So the game is coming out on the switch, will the touch screen controls of the switch in portable mode affect the runs in any ways? Just curious.
Okay, but 64 is still the same as JPN Wii/Wii U VC and they're on the 64 leaderboards as you can see in 70 star on VC runs. Also you already allow emus, just be like the SM64 leaderboards and have EMU, VC and Console on separate categories, and why not make one for switch as well if its really that much of a problem. Making the rereleases its own separate src page is a dumb choice in my opinion, no need for that when SM64 shows you can do it just fine with no issues with EMU, VC and actual N64. So I personally believe that switch should be separate as well as emu to get more people into running the game, I'm sure that if they get dedicated enough to the game, they'll eventually switch to actual hardware, like how an old friend of mine switched from VC to actual N64 in SM64. So having them in separate categories could bring in more people, because I'm pretty sure the average Joe would look up Mario Sunshine and not think to look up 3D allstars assuming they want to learn it on allstars, and if they don't take the time to do research the could be put off from learning the game.
Why not have separate categories on the SMS leaderboards for switch or just allow switch, Wii, and GCN to co-exist on one category? I don't really see the problem. If its because 3D all stars is a limited time release so is every game if you really think about it. Like I can't get a new copy of SMS fresh from the factory in 2020 unless its 3D all-stars, the choice to separate the leaderboards is really stupid in my opinion and should be highly reconsidered. Not just for sunshine, but for 64 and galaxy as well, at the end of the day its the same game. So why not just allow it on the main SMS leaderboards?
PS Now has the same glitches as The PSN/Collection releases so if I were you, I'd watch a run done on PSN and learn from that. (Because some PS2 glitches were fixed.) Also I'm unsure if World 4 skip works on PSN (I believe it does)
Heres a vid comparing loads against MelonDS. Even tho it runs flawless the loads are faster so idk about it being allowed for runs... its kinda iffy atm
i made a vid comparing loads against DeSmuME
But do vita and PS3 have the same glitches? I only ask because the vita version came out after the PS3 version, so they could have patched some stuff.
To my knowledge so far it only speeds up loading if you have custom settings enabled. I can't be 100% sure (because I don't have a capture card), but I'm pretty sure that's how it works for gen 7 games. Because gen 7 runs/loads faster on the New 3DS due to it being optimized to use the New 3DS' L2 cache and 804 MHz (which allows NTR CFW to run, and allows games like S/M/US/UM/SSB4 to run/load better on the New 3DS) vs the Old 3DS' 268MHz (which a stock New 3DS will use the 268MHz in games which load fine on Old 3DS). So you're pretty much overclocking those games that are not optimized for the New 3DS to make them load better. Seeing as USUM are optimized for the New 3DS (I can confirm because I played through them once on an Old 3DS and once on a New 3DS with stock firmware and with a New 3DS using NTR CFW on stock settings and once again with custom settings on NTR), I can pretty much confirm that USUM ran like shit on the Old 3DS, and better on the New 3DS without CFW, which ran the same on the New 3DS with NTR CFW & Stock settings, and it seemed to run 10-14fps faster on the New 3DS with NTR CFW & Custom settings. So I think we could allow people to use NTR CFW if we can find a way to show that they're using stock settings. (Sorry if this doesn't make sense, wrote it when I was tired).
