Hey all, the Plants vs. Zombies community is seeking moderators for Plants vs. Zombies Heroes. If you are interested, please join the PvZ speedrunning discord (stickied in the forum), and then let us know in the PvZ Heroes channel who you are and why you want to be a moderator. Ideally, we are looking for someone with plenty of experience speedrunning the game, but minimum requirements include one or more previously verified times on the Plants vs. Zombies Heroes leaderboards that follow all rules. Thank you!

Sounds good! In the future, definitely join the PvZ discord to ask any and all questions you may have, as it's more likely we'll see it there.

Hey, could the leaderboard https://www.speedrun.com/pvzce be set to the game type of Category Extensions for Plants vs. Zombies, since the community has been asking for one?

Even the two versions of PC (GOTY and non-GOTY) have different numbers of achievements to collect - and, in addition, nobody has even completed a run of such a category. It'd essentially be the current 100% but with more grinding. We can re-evaluate if somebody finishes a run, though.

The redesign has me thinking, is there any chance for an SRC mobile (iPhone/iPad/Android) app anytime in the near future? It’d make SRC a lot more pleasant to use on mobile and perhaps make verifying runs on the go much more of a possibility. Plus, I think the redesign’s theme lends itself to mobile much more.

Currently on SRC, mods can choose the individual platforms on which a specific game can be played by ticking off boxes from a bunch of options.

Under the current system, after being selected by the moderators, platforms are sorted into a list automatically. In addition, a seemingly random one is chosen to be first, which also is the default platform when a user chooses to submit a run. In my experience, this platform is not always the most common one. Sometimes, users will submit runs with the incorrect/default platform because of this. In games where it can be challenging to determine which platform a run was played on at first glance, this leads to problems sometimes for not only the verification but also users simply finding runs to watch.

My proposed solution is to simply change the platform list to a manual order, just like sorting categories or ILs.

While this may be a very small issue, I think it’s worth mentioning as the small quality of life changes can often make an already fantastic site even better. There may also be workarounds that I’m not aware of, but a simple method would be much better.

As it stands, you must make a custom rule list for every single standard category within a game. While this is effective in communicating the rules of a speedgame, there are a few problems. Sometimes, all of the categories will share a couple of the same rules, like how videos are handled or what versions of the game are allowed. Under the current way the rules are set up, you can either redundantly paste these directions in every single rule box, or simply put it in the main category one and hope that everyone will see it there and realize it applies to all categories.

I propose that we can set a list of global rules for a speedgame that will show up above or below the specific subcategory rules, perhaps with a thin divider. It would also be nice if we could choose specific categories that would "opt out" of the global ruleset, in case it does not match all of them.

In the past, the approach taken for the speedrun.com platform names of classic games on modern Nintendo consoles was to add VC at the end, the abbreviation for Virtual Console. This resulted in "WiiVC," "WiiUVC," and "3DSVC," which I really liked.

However, now Nintendo has revealed their online service plans for the Switch. There has been no mention of the Virtual Consone brand at all. But, they have still advertised that classic NES games will be playable on the system, and therefore can be speedran, and will need a platform of their own on speedrun.com. However, I don't think simply adding "SwitchVC" to the platform list will cut it - Nintendo has specifically avoided the phrase for a reason, even if that reason may not be obvious to us. So, I was wondering what would be a good alternative. Just leaving the platform as Switch would work, although it would be bland, and I think "SwitchClassic" would be too long and clunky. I'd like to hear your thoughts and maybe ideas.

One thing that I would love to be able to do would be to custom sort runs on my profile. The chronological sort is fine, but obviously there are some runs I've done that I'm prouder of than others and would like to showcase at the top. That way, when people visit my profile, they could see the games I care about the most, first. This would especially help people who run large numbers of games avoid meme games drowning out runs they put lots of effort into getting. For those who don't care to arrange their runs in this way, the default could still remain as chronological order.

If it were all of the normal and hard survival minigames, the run would be nearly 3 hours long. Having a run that's about an hour long is a good change from the 4 hour long Any% category and 2 and a half hour long All Minigames categories. If you want to run a longer category, both of those are good options.

In addition, the iOS/Android versions of the game do not have the hard survival minigames, so we kept it at normal to allow the runs to be consistent.

With no response, and the fact that I'm trying to focus more on other games, I think I'm going to not do this game for a while. Sorry about the trouble.

Requesting moderator for game: Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo https://www.speedrun.com/wgpz One moderator's last run of any game was 2 years ago, the other's was 6 months ago. I've sent both a Twitch whisper but both haven't streamed in over a year.

I don't know if this is a problem for everyone, but whenever I try to access the site using the browser on my phone, the leaderboards always give me less information than when on desktop, even when the phone is in landscape orientation. For example, on desktop I can see everything you should be able to (runners, times, platforms, regions, variables, and more) on the leaderboards. On mobile, all I can see are a list of runners and times, with no more information. This makes it less than ideal to access the site on mobile.

Currently, the runs on our profile just show our most recent runs. I think it would be cool to add a special layer of customization called your "Featured Run." You would be able to set 1 run in 1 category as your favorite run and people who go to your profile would see that run featured above all of your others. This would be helpful not only as an added layer of customization, but also as a way for people checking out your profile to know what your main speedrun focus is and the run you're the proudest of.

One thing I've noticed, that's a small pet peeve of mine, is when you search for games they're ordered by something seemingly random. For example if you type in "Super Mar" the first result on the drop-down list is Super Mario Advance: Super Mario Bros. 2, even though that is clearly not the largest game starting with "Super Mar," of which is Super Mario 64. In fact Super Mario 64 is eighth on the list, behind fan games such as Super Mario 63.

I would propose to have the the search result list have the games with the highest number of runs closer to the top, so it's easy to access larger games. If possible maybe it could be customizable from your settings page.

I was interested in running this game, but I no longer have a reliable way to record it. Can you delete it?

Well-written response, thank you. That definitely makes sense. However, I would like to see it become non-misc if its popularity ever picks up.
