Since the run was obsolete anyway that means it never appeared on the leaderboard, personally i would just hit verify without even checking an obsolete run and it seems that's what happened with your run.
Runs that appear on the leaderboard are taken more seriously, regardless of rank #
It wasn't 'stealth-deleted' i fixed some rules for multiple categories, moved dolphin doorskip from category extensions to the main GCN Emu leaderboard and archived duckstation(i can post the audit log recipients if you want to see this) during all of that (within 20 minutes of me archiving duckstation and still being busy with other changes) a post was made on the forums beating me to it, it was late so i said fuck it and went to bed.
3 people submitted runs to duckstation and it's been 3 months since creation with the most recent run being 27 days ago, it was dead on arrival, as i expected it to be because our "unrestricted" Ps emu category was the same (and also far from an even playing field)
In contrast if we look at PC Cutscene skip and dolphin doorskip or even just vanilla dolphin those are infinitely more popular because you spend less time on runs and thus completing more runs in a shorter space of time. Vanilla dolphin is quicker in real time than even the Vanilla PC version due to cutscene skipping. (It's also optional to skip the cutscenes because the cutscene time gets added onto the IGT eitherway)
If Ps Emulation had some kinda rich history to it, like it does on RE1 then we wouldn't even consider deleting it but the fact is, it doesn't. Even RE1 Ps Emulation isn't popular anymore and it was once THE category to run until PC version destroyed it.
Ps Emulation is dead for classic RE because theres so many better alternatives with the same barrier to entry.
If you install classic rebirth and the speedrun edition add-on, yes.
1:03 is only possible because of some crazy settings, he saved maybe 10 minutes from settings alone, but if you tweak the settings just slightly, you can give yourself an edge over other runners, and our "proof" of settings is null and void because you can change settings once you reach the title screen and it'd appear like you didn't cheat and followed the rules.
Theres no real way of knowing which settings were used unless it's blatantly obvious like 2K's 1:03 example above.
Playstation Emulation sucks, Dolphin Emulator is much better for gamecube and it's actually an even playing field, there's 2 categories to choose from, Dolphin vanilla and Dolphin doorskip and it also has an autosplitter.
You can show the correct settings, change them at the title screen and it will still display the settings you're supposed to have, even if you've changed them, if that makes sense.
A new patch has released for the mod and we believe this to be the final patch unless anything major pops up and needs tweaking
Heres what's new on the latest version
Ben skips' timing improved. Leon faces the manhole opener.
Leon faces the club key.
When Leon wakes up, he's slightly turned towards the door.
Annette won't speak in the lab if you keep the run button pressed, which makes you pick up the G-Virus faster.
After Ada's death A, Leon faces the door.
Fixed a glitch in Claires scenarios when she arrives to the marshalling yard.
Fixed a glitch for the bonus mode which made it load Biorand files if present in your RE2 folder.```
Another new patch which includes bug fixes for Leon B and changes to extra mode "SOURCE NECKS"
G Embryo has been fixed and it's now possible to skip Katherine's scream (the small cutscene at the crashed helicopter)
Download the new version below
Hello everyone, it's finally here!
Cutscene skip and fast doors has officially released!!!!!
you can obtain it from here;
https://www.moddb.com/downloads/resident-evil-2-door-cutscene-skip-sourcenext
To get splits working please download the updated Autosplitters from Resources and rename the Supreme doorskip exe to this "bio2 1.10 - Supreme Skip" without ""
Edit Alternatively the Autosplitters built into Livesplit will be fully functional very soon thanks to Deserteagle417 updating them**
https://www.speedrun.com/re2/resources/0kno7
if anyone encounters any bugs or crashes please post your findings in this thread so they're easy to find and pass on to the creator!
The category for this has already been created for the Main scenarios and we cannot wait to see how far this version can be pushed! you can find the category on the main PC leader board https://www.speedrun.com/re2
A few things to note
You can skip almost every single tiny cutscene, for example falling through the floor in the library and the switch to move the bookcases so spam that action button to skip!
Claire A has received a quality of life update, now when Sherry sits down you can proceed to the next room without going back for her!
This mod is incredible and all credits go to Resevilnemesis30, he has exceeded our expectations so please if you see him around on Twitch or anywhere PLEASE show him the love he deserves!
Happy Running!
It's not gemini making it now, he's busy with more important things.
Resevilnemesis30 has decided to make it and he said it will be ready in a week, maybe more depending on his free time. He started working on it yesterday 😀
As much as I'd like to add a category for it now, i think it would be best to wait until Gemini finishes his cutscene skip mod for Rebirth so then we have fast doors and cutscene skip in one category
GoG with rebirth patch(speedrun edition) would be fine as it forces the correct FPS, in theory it'd be identical to sourcenext timing wise, i don't have the GoG version so can't test it with rebirth myself.
Unpatched GoG definitely has no place on the PC board.
Doorskips on PC are just part of the game by default and not part of gemini's patch. The mod for dolphin is something that could be explored potentially, depending how it affects the game
It has been tested with turbo on a controller by mashing the options button and without the debug menu it wasn't possible
I believe it was made for an old version of dolphin, maybe 5.0?
Using turbo on the options menu button during marvin would be a good place to start to see if it's possible to sneak in the input before the door animation
The issue is that this wouldn't be possible without a glitch in a debug menu that was programmed by Gemini and not Capcom.
What needs to be found now is a way to do it without the debug menu which probably won't happen but if it did, this would be fair game.
As cool as this is you're still using a 3rd party program to perform the glitches.
I think we need a community effort with this to try and find a way to perform these skips without debug because they would definitely breath some new life into this game.
PAL isn't banned on Dreamcast because it runs at 60hz so it can directly compete with NTSC-U.
50hz PAL (GCN, PS, N64) is 17% slower than NTSC but it seems the Devs never changed the IGT to account for the lower FPS, so yes on the surface PAL is "faster" on IGT compared with NTSC but only because it's broken. You aren't going to see a surge in runners importing PAL consoles to get a lower IGT when it comes at the cost of a 17% slower game and so much more real time lost for 1 attempt. 50hz PAL has and always will be dead.
Theres old threads about it from my years ago. Very good Japanese version WR's were beaten by very bad PAL runs on Gamecube and PlayStation (console and Emu btw)
For example Poppos Leon A PS2 run was beaten by 1 minute on a PAL run that picked up the shotgun and had very poor routing. Basically a new runner posting practically their first ever run beat a WR that stood for 7 years, a run regarded as the best console record to ever be submitted until it was very recently beaten for real.
Also on gamecube the WR was beaten by 3 minutes, cant remember the exact time but it was sub 59 (IGT) Leon A on PAL.
There were other runs but those are the 2 that stood out the most, it was discussed at length right here on the forums and in discord at the time it was a problem, ultimately it was decided that since there were only 5 runs throughout the entire leaderboard on PAL all of which were old runs it was best to remove them rather than separate by regions to cater for a dead platform, something that i personally still stand by today.
