Due to Anthopants having new responsibilites in Streets of Rage 4, he will no longer be able to verify runs on a regular basis here. The power of command will be turned over to the next person who is in charge, who is A1Major, who is the current world record holder of the game.

I also am opening a new mod position for this game. The requirements are simple, submit a run that's reasonable (doesn't have to be WR) tthat A1Major or I approve and show knowledge of the game. We are in need, so as long as arguments aren't created and you're active, you will be approved.

We will formally be allowing Gamma 6 to be ran for 2.53 quests and below. When the release comes out Gamma 6 will be replaced by that. I will be creating variables for 2.53 very soon.

The 1st and 2nd Quests will have separate tracks for Gamma 6, as they have many bug fixes. The old versions will be considered a separate track.

New Run requirements:

1. The check your run after is STILL REQUIRED for anything other than a default module quest! It verifies if you have cheated or not during your run. .zcheat and .key files in your folder are NOT ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!!!!!!!!!! Please delete them from your running forlder. .zpwd files are allowed though.

2. All module quests (like the 1st and 2nd Quests) need to be RTA timed. Sorry, but there's no workaround for this at the moment. Changes will be posted as they come in.

3. Developers are allowed to run their quest ONCE to set a pacesetter time and once beat they are barred from playing again in their own quests. They ARE free to run quests they don't own including the official AGN quests. (I call this the GlitchCat7 rule, as his take on it made the most sense). Developers MUST verify that they didn't use .zcheat like everyone else.

4. Old runs that didn't cheat will still be allowed under the grandfather clause.

I am not usually a fan of these type of tactics (which is why 1CC% exists), but after reviewing it I feel as it should stay. If you do it in 1CC% you essentially have to one or two life the game, which is incredibly difficult. As for any%, well, anything goes.

This technique is officially legal. Just remember, in 1CC%, if you Game Over, you're done.

Zelda NES Remastered is now eligible to run, as I put in a practice time of 3:45:56. It would be an any% category if someone ran it, as a No Up and A is still over 4 hours.

Debating allowing the boss rush quests to be ran as well.

We are getting close to a 2.53 version release of some type. Those with the public beta can start practicing, as new 2nd Quest tracks are now up and tracked separately, while the other versions will have another variable added.

Due to a change in the Whistle Warp structure to more accurately reflect the NES, the 2nd Quest tracks will be split once 2.53 goes release candidate. The old versions will still be accepted for a bit of time before being closed..

By Zoria's decree, there is no way to time quests prior to 2.55, the devs are busy. So the 1st to 5th quest will have to be RTA timed. There will be upgrades in 2.55, and it's looking like whenever 2.55 is released it will be a mandatory upgrade.

After a heated conversation with the new developer, because there is no way to tell whether a developer did not cheat with a key file without backbreaking effort from verifiers, developers are not allowed to run their own quests for the time being. I will be removing some of my own runs because of this.

It sucks for everyone, but integrity has to be preserved. Using no cheats at the end is vital for keeping everything honest.

I'm sorry for this and if it kills this game here, so be it.

We have a nice run for Jake for 40F at 7:34. Congratulations!

If you happen to have older versions of Zelda Classic, you may now use them if the quest was made in that version. This is including, but not limited to: The 1st to 3rd Quests, and Demo EX. This will also help out with quests that aren't playable in newer versions that have been obsoleted. This includes DarkFlameWolf's, Peteo's, PrinceMSC's, and AlphaDawg who didn't update their quests to the new version if there's interest, as well as those interested in playing older versions of New Quest (especially the 2003 version) and the original version of James Quest.

I will post instructions on it soon, but unless you have a miracle good recording software for Win XP and below, we will be using DOSBox 0.74 for emulation of 1.00 to 1.90. I am working on configurations on it as we speak (I have found a specific issue that will hopefully be fixed soon and everybody can play) Make sure emulation is checked off when you submit it, or anything under 1.90 won't most likely be accepted as XP recording software as far as I know is difficult to find and work at speedrun quality. Correct me if I'm wrong.

1.92.183 and 2.10 must be played on the Windows or Linux (if available) versions. No exceptions there.
