Also I'm curious about why you restarted the game? To avoid crashes?
With this change I don't mind if you make my current level runs obsolete.
:D That's the last major milestone I think. I still want 2:12 Jungle. Crete 2:32 and Medieval 3:30 are maybe possible but I'm not sure. Can't see a second improvement on any of the others (we don't talk about Giza).
I tested Glaciers and it's harder on 90. On 60fps you can kind of just let the game take you where it takes you and it's quite relaxing. Not so much on 90. In particular the first section and the ally part is harder.
It's hard to explain but it affects vehicle handling. It's as though you have slightly more grip and accuracy of movement on 90 compared with 60. This is huge for Jungle and probably the level that it matters most on. There are certain strats like the route Jack took on his old Jungle record at the race start which are perhaps impossible on 60fps, compared to just very difficult on 90. But it makes a difference on some levels more than others; Desert was barely different at all. I haven't tested the other levels much so I'm not sure if it's always an advantage. One thing is that the negative effects of supersuspension are more severe on 90fps.
Do the CPUs not use weapons on easy though? Isn't there a reasonable chance one could use a roman candle on you on GW?
Actually, after trying out a few different levels with it, perhaps I overstated the handling penalty, but it does feel like there is a greater tendency to spin out.
Hmm. As much as that would be cool, I don’t know that there could be any, and if there are, I can’t imagine they could possibly make up for the time loss. On maps like Great Wall following the optimised route might be impossible. On Glaciers you slide around all over the place.
The reason I had it set at 1 was to avoid traffic at the start line and more importantly because it stops NPCs using weapons. But now thinking handling is the most importantly element.
I was playing around with the difficulty cause I’m planning on doing a full tournament run at some point and wondered how fast the NPCs were on difficulty 4 instead of 1.
I didn’t realise that difficulty significantly affects car handling (way less traction) and now I’m understanding why my dad and I used to avoid the chariot.
Just wondered if you guys had noticed this and whether it might be cool to try level runs on higher difficulties.
