This game is also available on iOS and Android platforms via the DisneyNOW app, so they should probably be added as platforms here as well.
I just found out today that a game called Tiny Wings+ released as an Apple Arcade exclusive less than a month ago. So in case anyone asks, the game is the exact same as the original from a base-level, and runs from that version will be allowed on this leaderboard. Although the details haven't been disclosed by the developer at all, there aren't any gameplay differences that I've noticed when playing, and it just seems to be the same game but on Apple Arcade instead. Seems like a bit of a pointless release, but at least we got some dope new artwork out of it.
IMPORTANT Twilight Menu is no longer banned and has been relegated to the new Emulator subcategories. This thread will now be locked.
It has come to the community’s attention that running this game on Twilight Menu, a mod used to run DS ROMs on a 3DS, is faster than running it off of an original cartridge due to the lack of lag. This means that from here on out, using this application will be banned from all speedruns. Subsequently, all current runs done on Twilight Menu have been rejected, and the world record for Any% has gone down from a 1:04:48 to a 1:07:36 as of writing this.
Unfortunately, we do not know why or how Twilight Menu is able to eliminate lag from the game, and we may never know. But the important thing is that using it is banned so that the game is being played as intended, and everyone is given a fair advantage.
Hey y’all, just wanted to let you guys know that the application to apply for verifier is now open, and will probably be open for about a week or so. If any of you have the slightest interest in becoming a verifier and think you'd be up for it, filling it out would be helpful so that we have as many options as possible.
We usually never release an application like this to the public (nor have we ever had a verifier in a fancy pants game before), but we’ve been getting a lot of runs lately so we just can’t keep up 😅
Here's the form if you're interested: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGpKC6ew6HUXeSTstNW3vgO3v4i_MJraPZ730ffjxaEIMu6w/viewform?usp=sf_link
Alright so there seems to be this random glitch that happens in the PC version (probably web too) where some levels get skipped, and it seems to be rng based. In most people's runs, Level 8 and Level 10 get skipped, which is actually pretty normal for this game, but sometimes you also do get one of those levels. It seems to have a roughly 5% chance of happening in your run.
There also seems to be an even lower chance of when a level gets skipped entirely without even pressing the Q key. You can see it happen here:
So yeah if a level gets skipped in a run it should be banned imo. You could easily replicate this by just pressing Q in between levels, so it can't really be verified whether it was actually pressed or not.
You may have noticed that there are now loadless times on the leaderboard, and we decided to include them with the development of this game's autosplitter, which will time runs without loads. Having loadless times will make the timing of these runs a lot more fair and accurate, as the load times for different people vary greatly.
Here's a spreadsheet I made that includes every sfpa run with loads and loadless times: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12NvYoIgexW3nuoffZnse_1AzGQjeYqrFH2uPiZxoypY/edit?usp=sharing I used this to time all of the runs with no autosplitter, which is why there might still be some notes on there for me. I highly recommend that you start using this autosplitter once it's more developed, as it will help me out immensely not having to time future runs. You can find the latest version of it in the Fancy Pants Speedrunning Discord server.
Just wanted to put it out there that Flash Player 11 isn't slower or faster than Flash Player 32, as you can see from this comparison PastaOmelette was having an issue where their game was being slowed down, so I made this comparison to make sure that the different Flash Players weren't the reason why.
If you're playing this game on a browser, you probably noticed that part 1 doesn't boot up on Brad's website. I'd recommend playing that part on this website, although the load times are a little slow: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/750785
For the other 2 parts, it's best to play them on Brad's website since the load times are basically as fast as sfpa.
