One thing I didn't see in the existing runs on this game is holding the B button while sailing—which speeds up the game immensely, it's really a huge timesave!
I checked the manual here -https://segaretro.org/images/0/05/Pirates_Gold_MD_US_Manual.pdf - just to be sure it was documented and it is, on page 13.
Hi,
The Analogue Nt Mini Noir uses the same Genesis/Megadrive core as the Mega SG, which is allowed on, e.g., the Sonic games. I just wanted to confirm this is OK before proceeding with attempts on it for Pirates! Gold.
Thanks!
Justin
Hi Richman--99% sure that controller design is fine. It seemingly doesn't allow you to do things like press L+R or U+D simultaneously? Mapping diagonals to their correct place on the D-Pad because of the physical design of any particular controller is not what the rule about mapping two actions to a button is in place to prevent. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm but in the meantime, I think you can feel confident you're following the rules properly.
Cool, maybe "Any%" / "Any% Single Segment" a la Final Fantasy NES?
Only seems logical. The leaderboard looks silly with that huge drop, and also I'm assuming both CaracarnVi and NESCardinality have non-manip runs that would rank in the top 2-3 if categorised separately.
The Any% is the glitchless, unless you know about a glitch on the U.S. version of the game that we don't.
Pause the game. On controller two, press up+A. You will be presented with the password screen. Proceed and you will respawn at the spawn point for whatever area you were in at the time.
