This is basically the reason its "No Major Glitches" and not "Glitchless", and as Fork said it's almost impossible to control, and it's inconsistent how long you're shot up/down for, so there's not really a gain for getting it, and it happens most runs if you can get enough speed
What Misha said, if you are running on Cool Math Games or the Wix Games site, you'll be running In Browser, if you're running one of the downloadable flash versions, you're doing a No Major Glitches run
The CrazyGame's version has screen manipulation, it's pretty obvious when you're on the "hub" screen, you can see out of bounds and clouds appearing where they shouldn't - in full screen (assuming you're on a 16:9 resolution) it's fine, however, for runs I'd suggest just using the Wix games site instead
I don't think its ever really been discussed, but the seeds arent an issue in an any% run anyway, as doing the training you'll get more than enough money for the 18 energy you'll need. The cheats menu isn't allowed in an ALU run though
Both sites are allowed now - if you have a run from Wix that's faster, feel free to submit it, or link me one we removed and I'll see if I can reinstate it
Like Rhino said, we normally beat the game doing an ALU run, then turn on extreme training and clear our data for an any% run
I've been verifying a lot of runs from new runners the past few days and I noticed that almost nobody is using extreme training. Once you complete an ALU run, you unlock the cheats menu, this allows you to turn on Extreme Training, which levels you up MUCH faster than a normal run would, and carried over between saves.
Hey CounterSole, so, just to clarify, that rule change wasn't done after your runs (as far as I am aware anyway), however, both Ennopp and I were not aware of the rule forbidding runs on Wix Games, as to me that site is owned by the developers and should've been allowed.
The emulators are allowed as they use flash files we scraped from hosted versions of the games, and software from Adobe themselves to run flash files,
In regards to your two points, 1. We're discussing what site should be allowed, I'm heavily advocating for Wix as, its the site from the devs, but we'll see where the rule ends up. In my opinion, the cool math version is actually bugged which is why the aspect ratio there is different, and that is only the version we allow because of that's where the flash version used to be.
- I had a quick check for any runs in that weren't on the Wix version and didn't spot any, but if you do notice any please flag them and I'll remove them.
The resources section has downloads for the game - https://www.speedrun.com/dl1/resources
So we had a quick discussion about this on Discord, or rather, me and Darilack did, this is what I said there, just posting it here for prosperity mostly.
I think with Dawnport, the timing of logging in vs using the ladder is such a minor thing that its fine as it is. However if the Rookgaard one changes so its when you say Yes to Inigo, the Dawnport one should change along with it, just so you're already in the game for both of them, for consistency
Ending when you get level 8, vs ending going to main will change the run quite a bit, as you'd have to route what caves and stuff you finish in to get to the oracle/boat, compared to at the moment you can just go for what gives the best exp/h - so we'd probably have to replace the category entirely, or have another one along side it
I understand that AMC is All Main Categories, however, I do have a question about how it works.
In DL3, we combine All Ducks and Any%, as you do Any% when completing All Ducks.
However, in DL1, NMG Any and NMG Max Skills are NOT combined, as well as NMG NoSS and NMG SA - which you could also complete all of in one run, are resets required between each of these categories, or should 3 be changed to also require a reset?
Similar with DL2, Doing a NMG Any% is still Technically an Any% albeit slower, and should clear both categories?
I posted here instead of discord so in case anybody else has the idea to run the worst category ever, they can.
There are also right click options for forward/play which are used to skip races I believe. If you download the .exe in resources you also get keyboard shortcuts for these.
Also, if you're not there already we have a DL speed running discord, https://discord.gg/HvswpY9
The GBI is the Game Boy Interface. Its a homebrew emulator for the Gamecube if I recall correctly though I'm not 100% on the differences between that and the Gamecube's own player.
Several categories that aren't even possible (or even related to the game), all with random videos completely unrelated to the game as well as a heinous style and totally incorrect statistics about the game.
This is probably best decided by the moderators of each individual game, rather than a site wide ruling, I would suggest contacting the mods of the game in question when editing your recording to remove the ads.
So, Chegg suggested (for all DL games, not just 3) that we start when exiting the menu screen after picking your chicken, instead of when selecting a duck. Chegg's new record does this and I'm also in favour of doing it for DL3 for consistency.
Just fancy writing this down so people who want to run and aren't on our discord know when we start timers in a run.
