Good ideas! Zero has said on discord that if you want a new category on the leaderboards upload a good run of it and he'll make the category on here. I'd imagine if it's too obscure it might not get a category but maybe we could have a miscellaneous section if we have a few random ones like all landmarks or all sca.b's.
It would count for that patch but not current. Any run on current patch should take 1st place on here imo. Would be cool if there's a way to keep my run visible but unranked, archived I guess, to show what was done previous patches but keep the rankings for current patch only
Uh oh!
I've always had the idea of trying to master grass launches but just never got around to it. That really shows the power of them though so they could save so much time!
While that pond oob would skip the bone, scale and analyser in the lab outpost, it could definitely still be useful. Just need the fish in the right place but with doing pond lab first resetting that early might not be the worst (hopefully the rng isn't horrendous).

Nice yeah probably will for all chips run. There's a really easy grass jump up too actually that gets you closer to the coals than upper yard ascent, from the rock the wolf sleeps under
Haven't been able to jump past it yet but it still seems kinda possible. F*cking annoying. Not in the patch notes either of course.
Edit: Just checked from above and you can't fit through :(
They nerfed it by just changing it from an axe to generic damage right? Broody resists chopping so it should be better against her now tbf
Page looks good man!
I'm going for Mant then whoa widow I think but after that maybe Broodmother with pinch whacker, see if that's faster than pre 1.0 runs and get that submitted here, get some of these categories filled out a bit ey
You like that widow run Vquad? ;) You should run it anyway! And post it too, would be keen to see
I reckon Dome% could be done in under 10 minutes without picking up a single item! Can tell you my thoughts on it if you want.
I was using the milk molar map from the wiki for drawing out routes but it was cluttered and kinda low res so made my own map. Thought I'd share in case anyone here wants to do the same. Will probably update it when 1.0 drops.
Welcome! I only have very brief, not very helpful notes saved. There's a couple of things I've figured out since my last upload though:
I found a pond wall breach spot which brings you out right by the fin flops cave, so that saves about 40 seconds of swimming. Haven't put it in a run yet but here's some screenshots https://imgur.com/a/odso21e . It's been a while since I did it but I think you wanna stand right up to the wall looking at that spot in the last screenshot and look up as far as you can but so that you can still place the lean-to. That should get you through the terrain behind.
Second thing is how to respawn way closer to the oak after grabbing the black anthill chip. You know if you don't have your spawn set at any beds or lean-tos and you hit respawn after dying it will spawn you at the nearest field shelter you've discovered as a landmark. This can be abused to choose where you respawn anywhere on the map. At the start of the run when you go to analyse you can use the analyser in the first field shelter, just make sure you don't discover it as a landmark. Then after the mystery machine (I think this would be the best place in the run to do it), run to the field shelter that's just southwest of the oak lab and stare at it until you discover it as a landmark. Final step is to unset your spawn from the lean-to after you've respawned from getting the haze chip but before you drop down to get the black anthill chip. Then just respawn as normal after collecting it and you should spawn at the field shelter right by the oak. If you forget to unset your spawn before dropping down you won't lose much time, just unset it and give up again. Might cost you 10 seconds at most.
If you can get a good run including these strats you'll smash my best time easy!
Haha alright well the only glitches I can think of are block cancelling which isn't really a glitch and the lean-to wall breach.
To block cancel you just wanna hit block immediately after the damage from your attack is applied. So with weapons/tools that have a 3 attack combo, the first attack does 50% damage, 2nd does 100% damage and 3rd does 150%. So if you're fighting something or chopping grass/stems you only wanna block cancel after the 3rd attack of a combo, if you block cancel after every attack, even though your attack speed would be faster you'll basically be doing 50% damage. That's what you wanna be doing as a minimum I would say. Since they slowed down the hammer attacks I think it's actually faster to attack three times with a full combo than block cancel every attack, so for molars and mints that need four hits no matter what, just do the same and block cancel after the third attack of a combo, even though the total amount of damage is irrelevant in that situation. Slightly more advanced use of it would be cancelling things like eating, drinking and bandaging animations during combat so you can attack again faster. The effect of a bandage for example is applied as soon as you press the key to use it so the animation of your character applying it is actually dead time which you could be using to do damage or give yourself more time to react to parry an attack (I personally find my character's hands doing something distracting while I'm waiting to time a parry).
With the lean-to wall breach it can take some practice to get it down but it's not that bad. You may have noticed that when you land after jumping your character dips down a bit as they absorb the impact of landing and if you have a weapon in your hand you'll dip down even further. This can actually push your camera through certain geometry and allow you to interact with stuff that's out of bounds, like placing blueprints or moving things already built like the lean-to. So the steps to wall breach would be: Build a lean-to. Set it as your spawn. Press whatever key/button you have set to relocate it. Jump next to a wall. When you land, your head should go through, so spam whatever key/button to place the lean-to out of bounds. Use the Give Up option in the pause menu and respawn. You should now be out of bounds! Be careful which way you face the lean-to when you place it, you spawn in front of the open side of it so if you place it out of bounds with the open side facing the wall you might respawn back in bounds. It's easier or harder at different walls but how you move can make it easier. The breach into the sandbox Zer0 found that I used in my super chips run at about 15:45 is a really good example caused I rushed my first attempt and didn't move away from the wall at all. With that one you wanna take a step back from the wall, jump, and move forward while you're in the air to be able to see through the wall. Don't place it too far forward either though otherwise you'll spawn falling into the void.
I'm thinking I wanna try and figure out exactly how you can get launched by a big creature moving the grass around because being able to catapult ourselves across the yard would obviously be super helpful as well as just mad fun. So I'll let you know if I figure that out. This post is a good example: https://old.reddit.com/r/GroundedGame/comments/we7ztr/well_this_happened/?ref=share&ref_source=link Seems like you just wanna be standing in the position of where a pushed over piece of grass is about to return to.
Anything else you want help with just let me know!
By 100% do you mean peeping every creature or all gold cards? Cause all gold cards would be insane. I'd be up for having peep all creatures as a category though for sure. No discord that I'm aware of. Did you want help with something in particular? I'm happy to help if I can.
Nice run! Sad the game's a bit dead, hopefully 1.0 brings a lot more runners in.
The game was kinda dead anyway tbf. In the three months before the reset there were only three people other than Zer0 and me that submitted a run. I can't find a single other person that's uploaded a super chips speedrun to Youtube.
In Zer0's post saying all runs will be deleted with this update he said "any questions feel free to ask" and with 60+ views there wasn't a single response. Not saying he should've gone ahead with it straight away either, no response doesn't mean yes by default.
I was keen for the reset but in retrospect wiping the whole site probably was unnecessary, a new category for the updated questline would have probably been enough. Kinda sad seeing all the Rescue BURG.L runs gone. If rescuing BURG.L took longer on the new patch then I'd be more for it, but it's actually a bit shorter with the removal of the buttons and switch to open the door in the Oak lab.
Hopefully with 1.0 there'll be one last formatting of the site, we can ask what categories people want to see added and there'll likely be an influx of players which should mean more speedrunners too.
I think starting with the more obvious categories like story, bosses, wolf spider (I might be a bit biased towards that one) with glitched, glitchless and each difficulty is a good idea. Can you sticky threads in this forum? Because I think a permanent "Category Ideas" thread would obviously hopefully produce more run ideas and help get more people involved.
I've seen quite varied runs on Youtube like an all gold cards run, all raw science and a craft mint mallet run, so some longer runs like all landmarks, all molars, all SCA.Bs etc and then full game 100% could be added too. Something like a 25k raw science run could be interesting as it would probably rely on a bit more rng due to BURG.L quests, whereas the all super chips run is purely refining the route and execution, don't have to do much thinking on the fly.
Haven't been playing the game since my last runs because I'm also just waiting for 1.0, although I'll probably hop back on and practice about a week before release, shake the rust off!
I might be up for being a mod, will know closer to the time.
Yeah true, I'd be screwed if we weren't able to interrupt attacks by blocking. Sweet, wanna do some glitchless runs down the line so I'm glad that's allowed. Maybe we could have a list of allowed/disallowed glitches in the guides section or pinned at the top of the forum if possible?
I hear you, I was talking more to Zero then haha.
