There's an in-game timer/auto splitter now in Livesplit made by Sphere. You just have to put in the maps like TSR1, TRN1, ARM1, KOS1, etc. Not TSR2 because we skip it in the run (it's just a cutscene I guess). Try it out and tell me how it goes!
To activate it just edit splits and activate Load Removal there.
Are you guys playing on sofplus btw?
Loving the competition between KL0P5 and chargerbandit, and since you guys both got 46:59 I watched both runs side by side and noticed that chargerbandits loads were far longer. In many cases 3x or 4x longer.
I don't know if this bothers you guys much, but a load remover for this game would be really helpful. Unfortunately it's kind of difficult to find someone who would take the time to make one for a game they don't run. I can try asking SphereMJ since he's made several for other Quake 2 engine games (Quake 2, Kingpin, Daikatana).
You have to mash the use key in a specific spot because what you're doing is trying to hit an invisible switch beyond the exit trigger.
Hi! Awesome that you want to start running the game.
The only reason why we don't do the break dancing and air climbing (break dancing in particular) is because they're so impossibly hard to control and they change the run so much that I figure it's worth having a separate category. The category was named No Physics Glitches before, which is a better name because the glitches you mentioned don't utterly destroy the game like those other ones. Also like you said, attack cancelling using the block key could be considered a glitch, who knows.
Honestly, I hate coming up with rules for categories in speed games. If you want to use certain glitches, go ahead and use them. This game has so few runners or people who care about it at all, just do what you want and have fun with it.
I'm pretty sure I skipped the cutscene by pressing Escape. Looking back at my videos it looks like I do it nonchalantly, so if you're unable to do that it might be some issue on your part.
I know the maps are called demo6a and demo7, but if I remember correctly if you just remove them then the game crashes, right?
Hi! I was wondering if a Powerslave EX category could be added. I realize the game is very different than the original, and that the source port is not very accurate, but I did a speedrun of it and am likely going to do more. Personally I see no harm in adding a category, even if it was a misc. category. But if you don't want to I'd respect that decision. I'm also planning on running the DOS version of Powerslave, so maybe that could be added as well? Thanks.
Hey! I'm planning on running this game some more and I'd like to become mod so I can make the leaderboard look better and add runs/categories easily.
Nobody runs that category or ever really ran it. Once OOB strats were found any% changed, and the no oob category was made for some reason. No one ever added to it, so it was basically a pointless legacy category.
The first minute of the speedrun is completely pointless to time since it's two cutscenes. I think the run should start either at the start of the first skidrow map or from a save after that first cutscene in the skidrow map (since that's also about 30 seconds). This would basically mean starting the timer once the player obtains control which is common among other speedruns.
If you're using livesplit there's the ability to activate Load Removal in the edit splits menu. It's also an autosplitter.
I added it, sorry for making a Misc. category and just throwing the runs in there.
I'd like to backup Beardy's request for becoming Super Mod for the Shadow Warrior series. With the new game coming out there's going to be some interest in a leaderboard for that and he's willing to make it. Since I'm not Super Mod for the Shadow Warrior series I can't add him.

More enemies is the biggest difference. Skill 1 has half damage taken, and Skill 5 has fast monsters.
So I tried doing this and it seems like after killing the programmer and leaving the base there's a force field that keeps you in and won't let you get to the Borderlands. You could go through the sewers again but I feel like that's probably slower. Not sure if this is supposed to happen.
Interesting. Funny how these things get found after doing it so much. It happens in other games too, people realize you don't have to flip a certain switch or hit a certain trigger.
Nice find, and thanks :D
I've always supported this idea. It makes the game more appealing to run and more appealing to watch. I think it's better in every way to have it as an option.
