I'm not sure if [user deleted] actually ended up asking about this before being deleted, so I'm just going to ask again if a board or category for the Game Gear version of the game can be created (Scenario Mode and Puzzle Mode)
Am I allowed to submit runs using the Steam version of Sonic 1 or 2 using a Sonic Classic Heroes mod from the Steam community?
I see that PC is listed and I assume that's ok, but I wanted to check to be sure.
Hello! I am a speedrunner who owns Mean Bean (Game Gear) on both the Xbox collection and the 3DS Virtual Console. I personally prefer the Game Gear variant of the game, and wanted to see it get a category or board, so I did a few runs and got my pb so far uploaded to youtube. (It's slightly low quality, because external recording of a 3DS), but here it is
If a leaderboard or category gets made for the game I may do more runs to get the time lower, and I may do a Puzzle Mode run.
Someone asked a similar question on the talkhaus a couple years ago. When you have the game running, if you type BIND anywhere in the game it'll take you to the keybinds menu. If that doesn't work then it's probably an issue with the keyboard. Hope this helps.
I would also be interested in a Discord server if one is made. Having a Discord server is a good way to attract newcomers in my experience, because seeing that Discord is an option makes people more comfortable saying hi and asking questions, so I don't think numbers would be an issue.
Edit: I didn't see the Discord link before writing this, my bad
I have another reason to split them:
Hard Boiled Hard GBA has 8 levels Hard Boiled Hard on other consoles has 10 levels
As of right now, the game is pretty inactive, and it probably will be most of the time, but I'm bringing up the mod issue for this game.
There's only 1 moderator for this game and when I look at their account it says they were last online 9 months ago. I tried contacting them through all of their connected social medias, but none of them exist except Steam, which I couldn't make contact through because it wouldn't let me message them without being friends on Steam, and my friend request was either rejected, blocked, or there was a Steam glitch.
There are 2 reasons I'm bringing all this up, the first being that I submitted a run a month ago and it wasn't verified. I'm not sure what you're supposed to do when a game's mods are inactive and you can't contact them, but that's one of the things I'm asking about in this forum post. Might have to contact site mods to help if no one can contact the current mod.
The other thing I have to ask is, while I myself would like to volunteer to become a mod for this game, and am wondering if anyone else would also be interested in being a mod here. Games are usually better when there's at least two mods so no runner has to verify their own runs (because while I doubt anyone would cheat at this game, it's just better in my opinion if runners aren't verifying their own runs, keeps things more ethical).
So yeah, game probably needs contact with speedrun.com's site mods to revive activity for the game (if no one can contact the current mod), and if that happens, I don't want to be the sole mod of the game (if I even need to be), so if anyone here is responsible enough and knows the game's rules, you know what I'm asking here.
One other question, do the Level Leaderboard runs go based on the time displayed at the end of the level?
The Maw does have 3 DLC levels, and I was wondering if we could get those on the Level Leaderboard. The levels are named Brute Force, River Redirect, and Speeder Lane. I was also thinking we could have a category for Any% With DLC (because if I remember correctly, playing the game with DLC implements the DLC levels directly into the story). I we had that we could also have a 100% With DLC category.
So for clarity, a run would end on the part where Maw has just destroyed the tower, on the frame where we see Maw's Eye and frank is about to land beside it? (Just checking because if you already have the achievement, timing based on that wouldn't work) (Also including rules in the rules section would probably be a good idea at some point)
