Found a few new skips recently, figured I would gather them here and explain them along with the one I found on 4-2 a while back;
4-2 (Rocky Peaks 2);
Idea behind the skip is to touch the first cloud platform for a single frame then fall off, this gives rayman the properties of the cloud (rising if its rising, falling if its falling) and puts rayman in a weird state. Then you want to float to the ledge shown in the video (While the platform is rising, if you unload the platform while it's falling you'll sink instead) and you'll automatically rise up. Make sure not to jump off of flat ground as this loses the rising property, you have to float from the platform/ledges (jumping from a ledge is fine, only jumping off of flat ground loses the property).
There are a few setups to get this, my personal preference is to hang off of the first ledge and time a Right into immediate A button tap.
SkeletKasket has a jump from spawning in setup that also works (I'm not sure if its easier or harder, I know I suck at it though.)
4-3 (Rocky Peaks 3);
You want to grab the initial edge in all of the spikes in the video below (at the bottom of the area just below the first moving spiked rock), and then look left. Once you take damage again this should knock you down to holding a lower platform, simply look right and then drop down, you can fall the rest of the way without inputting anything safely and then pick up the heart right at the bottom.
6-1 (Fiery Depths 1);
When you get to the first bat hanging loop, ride it to the top, jump into the spikes and then position rayman into the small gap shown in the video below. You then want to die, and you'll respawn at the checkpoint on the other side of this wall. Ideally you want to enter this level with 2 health, one to take the initial hit then die on the second, if you have more though you can take damage on the first two flamethrowers and then the swinging ball in this level on the way to this point.
6-3 (Fiery Depths 3);
After the first swinging ball and the drop, simply helicopter into the gap in the wall shown in the video. This trick now means you need to enter this stage with at least 3 health, ideally 4+. This is the biggest of the new skips found, and thankfully the easiest.
Hey Peelster, I did answer this when you commented it on my any% video yesterday, but tl;dr the glitched version of AGS would be both a different category, and trivially indistinct from any% itself because of ACE (which is the reason that AGS is already glitchless on the leaderboards).
Take a screenshot or video of what you've got on OBS, it captured for me just fine so hopefully its a quick fix.
Can't speak for how to help with the windows default recorder but I'd recommend (in general, not just for this game) recording through OBS, its a more versatile recorder and will make things like this easy with screen/game captures. You might need to spend half an hour setting it up/learning the features but its well worth it in the long run.
For clarity given the above, you can't use savestates in a run (if you plan to submit it to these leaderboards), but you can use the in-game save function and reload that save if you want. If you want to take a break from the run however, the time will keep running, so you can't take a break mid run and remove that break time.
It's effectively an emulator I believe, so no. Currently the only accepted hardware is official nintendo hardware (GBA, SP, gameboy player for the GCN), GBI (as it still uses the GBP hardware anyway), and the emulator mgba.
Not gonna post anything more after this cause I'm clearly egging on the nutjob that keeps starting tons of threads, but there's no concrete proof I can give past the point that the runner @starcrytas is (or at this point it -could- be was, there wasn't much official back in 2014, just an editable wiki page) banned from the PSR leaderboards. You have to go back to whenever that message was added to the PSR wiki (2014 I think, see the link in my comment like 2 pages ago) for the timeframe that he was banned, and passed that all you have is my word/memory that it was 2 emerald runs and a crystal run that he faked. I honestly wouldn't expect many people even from PSR to remember this because it was A ) so long ago and B ) back when the community was tiny, so realistically unless you wanted to go on a hunt for the evidence/info and bug a lot of older PSR runners you probably won't ever get definite proof from that. I posted it because I thought it was worth mentioning specifically because not many people would remember this, and because this other guy was going mental trying to prove he is a cheater (bad choice in the end) To the guy spamming shit loads of videos/threads/whatever if you're actually trying to call out starycry for cheating you're doing a trash job of it, people will believe them now over you just because you're demonstrating how awful a person you are.
I know some idiot has been spamming threads on here for a while claiming this which somewhat dampens the point, but starcrytas is an (old) known cheat in PSR. I know of two cheated emerald speedruns he posted, and from memory I believe there was a crystal run that was removed as well at some point, but we're going back to late 2013 so my memory isn't amazing. Old wiki post with very minor detailing of their ban (and allegations to them doing something in the brawl community which I know nothing about) http://wiki.pokemonspeedruns.com/index.php?title=Pok%C3%A9mon_Emerald/Times&oldid=2829
FWIW the pokemon speedrun community has had starcrytas banned since around 2014 due to cheated Crystal and Emerald runs. Not that this thread appears to be relevant to that any more.
Had someone submit a run with no audio and choppy framerate/lag (I think a top 3 time when they submitted, but the video title started WORLD RECORD), run got rejected. They then re-submitted the run with a longer intro in the video (but the same run) and changed the time they submitted it as (rejected). They opened a new thread called "Omoeba [sic] that's just sad" where they complained I had rejected two perfectly legit runs https://www.speedrun.com/yh10s1/thread/umxyj (they've since deleted their own posts). Later in the thread a moderator of another run lets us know that this runner spliced a run in their game. Finally they open another thread called "Fake Runs Report" (not linking because we locked it and they deleted their own post) where they claimed to be "moderator verifiers" or something, creating faked/cheated runs to "test" src moderators, and well done to the mods for catching them out but "don't tell anyone else because then I can't test them".
Anyway they're banned from the site now, no idea why. https://www.speedrun.com/user/IrreversibleNinja
Timings have been updated as above. I've saved a pastebin https://pastebin.com/ai9R9wpD of the previous times if for some reason we need these, but if we decide milliseconds should be re-added for every run we'd have to re-time them all anyway. Of note I had to remove the following runs; PajamaWarriorJohn's 7th place 3:07 (as well as all their obsoleted runs) as the videos have been deleted. lost_ 's 9th place 3:09 for the same reason, however their previous PB 3:11 has an active video, so that remains. Zizanyman's 19th place 3:24 as no VOD (along with all obsoleted runs) TheLastCreeper's 28th place 3:38 as no VOD DaBombzebra's 38th place 3:58 as no VOD
I've also updated the rules to properly define the start/end timings.
Late as hell reply but yeah that X speed should be Archie not True Double.
Level leaderboard is sort of pointless when the full game run is ~3mins, and top level runs do the best strat for every level anyway. It would likely just be Hirassy & me at the top of them all.
So given the response above I'll implement milliseconds for sub 3 times, and remove them elsewhere. Will leave this thread open for anyone with a tied time to request the times be split if they want. Changes will be implemented probably Sunday, unless significant discussion happens sooner.
Pretty much aligns with my ideas, which is nice, not sure on the tied times though as that could look messy (and in the grand scheme of things would positioning on the leaderboard matter to someone if they tie a 3:10 or similar?) Happy to roll with it if it's what people want though.
So YH10S has (relatively) exploded since the (now 3 year old) decision to add milliseconds to the entire leaderboard. We're over 50 runners, and I personally think the leaderboard is looking a little messy because of it. We have some times without milliseconds, most with, but most submitted times just get the milliseconds submitted from the livesplit timer, they aren't correctly retimes from VODs that I'm aware of (because it's a lot of work for us verifiers, and personally I'm not too fussed if the milliseconds aren't accurate for a 50th place 4 minute run, where they aren't tying anyone to the second.
So I'd like to see if anyone objects to us changing the millisecond timing to either the top X runs (top 5 or top 10 seems nice), or any sub X time runs (sub 3 being the obvious choice). This would neaten up the presentation of the leaderboard, not require unnecessarily accurate timing lower down the leaderboards but still allow for unties towards the top, and remove a lot of potential work on us moderators having to frame count every VOD going forward.
If the community consensus is that milliseconds should be shown and correct for every run on the board I'm still willing to do that, and correct all the times, but would like to avoid that much work if it isn't necessary ;)
You should have a spare x speed at that point to throw in (buy 4 at Falabor, use 1 at Rival 3, TnL and True Double, leaving 1 spare) which counteracts the fall. Double RT speed drop is a killer though apparently (I'm paraphrasing what Shiru told me here because I also didn't know).
You should use the most up to date version at the time, currently 0.8.1 I believe.
