I’m sure someone out there has already discovered this pause manipulation glitch considering how many people have played this game, but I’m still glad to have found this on my own at least to allow for this category to be possible. The best distance I’ve seen achieved legitimately is 740m, so it could still be possible to get to Island 11 without this glitch, but we probably won’t find out if it is for a long time.
For any future runners, basically how this glitch works is you start a game like normal, then pause immediately and quit back to the menu. I don’t exactly know know how the glitch works from here other than you’ll keep going for a bit until you get a game over, and starting the game for the next 2 minutes or so will let you continue your game as normal from where you left off. The sun seems to be completely unaffected from this though, so you can’t use this to skip some of the sun’s time as far as I can tell. If you left the game running for a bit over 3 minutes or so, this will cause the game to be in a glitched state where your gravity is similar to what you get in the game over screen, and you’ll be stuck with that on your screen for the rest of the run. In order to get to Island 11 and not have the sun set during your run, I’ve found that waiting for 7-8 minutes after starting the glitch is the sweet spot, but this will depend on what island layout you have during a day. If this all sounds too complicated then I just recommend trying out the glitch yourself and coming to your own conclusion, but otherwise I hope this helps someone.
