the mario 35 anniversary is coming out and im thinking about running any% when it comes out. will i be allowed to post it on the leaderboards?
Almost nothing is known about that version, so I imagine you will need to wait a few days to see if the experts of this game notice any major differences. If there aren't, I guess you'll be allowed. If there are major differences, though, you'll probably be able to submit to another leaderboard once it's created.
I am super excited for this possibility and I am sure many others are as well. I have been wanting to get back into speedrunning this game but I did not have a good setup for it. This will change things :)
My guess is that it'll probably need a different leaderboard, or maybe a different category just because of control differences.
thanks for all your replies, i hope it will be allowed because i don't have a good gamecube setup.
Even if it wasn't even given its' own category and was completely banned, it would still get a seperate leaderboard you could compete on.
Just because the version is faster doesn't mean it needs a separate leaderboard. A separate category or subcategory might be warranted but making a new leaderboard for the same game is unnecessary
I second conman, because they didn’t have a new category for all the version differences in paper Mario and ttyd.
I'm actually looking forward to this game, and I really wish it gets the attention and proper category that it deserves, I've been wanting to speedrun this game for so long, and I think many people are in this situation too but cant get a hold to a GameCube so it opens so many new opportunities and challenges to the community, so please make this happen.
Technically They based themselves on shindou edition for mario 64 switch, since the shindou edition has fixed glitches, and different voice clips it is normal to see some glitches being patched, but as for mario sunshine all the versions had the same or almost All the same glitches As far as i know it's a slightly faster port with better graphics, i doubt it will have patched glitches. and if that ever happen. in fact all three games are ports with better graphics, sm64 allstar as i said was a port of shindou editon with better graphic optimized for the switch controls to work with it. same for sunshine and galaxy.
All-Stars using the Shindou edition is just a rumor. They played a voice clip of "buh bye" over gameplay and that's all the evidence there is. Shindou is what Japanese Virtual Console uses, so it might not even be in the international versions of All-Stars.
I would assume that for the switch release the game would have fixed a lot of the glitches used for speedruns. Which would lead to vastly different times than for the GCN release. I think another tab like we have the "normal" and "hoverless" tabs but we add one (or as many as we need if there are more than only normal and hoverless) for the switch release.
Ah i thought the shindou rumor was confirmed, i'd have prefered a port tbh if they're going to fix glitches, a port with HD graphic would have been better ;p
I don't think the Switch version is going to be allowed on the main leaderboards purely because it's a limited edition until the 31st of March. If the digital version ends up being the fastest version, then it gives an unfair advantage to anyone who wants to speedrun the game after March 31st when they can no longer buy it. Sure they can buy a physical copy second hand, but it might be slower than the digital version and they're permanently going to be at a disadvantage. I can see it being added if they end up re releasing it at a later date that isn't a limited edition, but the most likely thing that is going to happen is it will go on the 3D Allstars own leaderboard.
I was just gonna buy 3D All Stars to see if the Shindou conspiracy is true and play Sunshine because I haven't played it yet.
you haven't played sunshine? you missed probably the best game out here, the movement in it are insane (its my fav game of all time o3o)
