I feel like variables should only be used to point out small advantages or differences between runs to the point where all the runs on the same leaderboard would still be comparable, and shouldn't change the whole ruleset. So to speak, the top time on a leaderboard should be considered the sole world record regardless of the variables selected. In this case putting the different categories as subcategories might be more appropriate.

my opinion is that alt any% ww should be the main glitched category on the leaderboard, and that it should either replace or merge with any% ww.

i don't really care if ppl want alt any% or any% ww to remain separate so long as they're in misc. basically i would prefer the main categories to be just any%, dark ending, 106, and any% glitched (allowing anything including alt, wrongwarp, and whatever else ppl come up with later, i'm sure the game is still more broken than we know), and ppl can do w/e they want with anything in misc lmao.

Welp - turns out that the same name can't appear twice on a single leaderboard, even with different variables. For example, I tested by putting hamb's any% ww and alt any% ww in the same category, and it just marked his any% ww as obsolete because it's slower. So the merger option's out until src gets its shit together -

Putting alt any% ww on main is a tough call. On one hand, it does make sense to show the fastest times currently possible, but alt any% ww manages to be even less competitive than any% ww. If we're thinking in terms of accessibility, any% ww on main still makes the most sense.

We COULD throw misc any% times on a google sheet so that runners can have multiple times on the same leaderboard. In this scenario, the src leaderboard would have a redirect link to the spreadsheet under "Rules." Just throwing that idea out there.

I'm pretty sure you can have multiple times on the same leaderboard if you just uncheck the box "Values obsolete eachother" in the variable settings.

I don't know why are we combining misc any%, they are all different categories so they should be separate. Effectively we are talking about removing any% WW and any% alt no WW.

I think we should keep them.

It should be possible to use the same system as the IL right? but instead of a filter by character have a filter by category, so for instance if you look at 3-5x I have a ogmo, hominid and naija time but if I was interested in the naija times I could just click on the character filter and get that. The images shown should give an idea what I mean, see how when I am unfiltered my "inferior" times don't take places but when filtered to ogmo my time shows as first.

The most popular categories should be in the main page imo. If alt any% ww is put to the main page instead of any% ww then why isn't alt 106 there over 106. It all comes down to what people want to run and any% ww just happens to be more popular than alt any% ww.

Right - with the subcategory system, we'd be able to keep any% ww on main page WITH the addition of alt any% ww and alt any% as additional subcategories under the header "any% major glitches" (see imgur link). This category umbrella would also permit for any additional major glitches in the future to have a pre-built space for run submissions. We could do a similar subcategory thing with character runs.

i don't understand how people would want any% ww to remain on the main category list over alt any% ww just because it's "more popular". it's.... not popular. it's just not. i have never seen anyone even hint at wanting to play the category for more than 2 hours. it's just that a bunch of people did 1 run the week the wrongwarp was found, because of the novelty of it.

if i had used alt when I discovered the wrongwarp, everyone else would have used alt and we wouldn't be having this discussion because nobody would want it otherwise.

i promise you, i won't be upset that i no longer have 3rd place in this extremely prestigious category if it gets merged or replaced. in fact, if it gets merged, i'll spend a couple hours doing runs and then just like no-alt !! the only reason either of these categories should be main at all, honestly, is the belief that the fastest way to complete a game should always be on the main page just out of principle. that would be alt any% ww (or any% major glitches or w/e it gets renamed to).

alternatively, the new subcategory display that went live literally right after i posted is acceptable imo, even if i would still totally delete the other misc any%s if i had mod =p
