so there is plenty of software to map controllers to keys on a keyboard, the rules in Ironman% state that you can only use on KEYBOARD, I am curious if it would be legal to use controller mapping and mashing, if so, would this be a possibility for people who don't have many controllers? I think the community should come to a conclusion to this.

Well I suppose that would be possible if someone actually figures out key mapping that applies to the game then sure I guess xd. Otherwise I suppose there really isn't anything cheat/macro about it.

Well controllers naturally have better response time helping speed a run by probably about a second or two

Heya, I posted a "JoyToKey" Application in the resources tab. I tested the controller settings and it seems to function just about the same as 3 or 4 keyboards combined. (You can make it spam 4 keys at once with a single press) I dunno if allowing it in Ironman% would be good or not. I'll go ahead and abstain from the vote and leave it to you guys. It feels a tad too strong but Idk. Perhaps further testing is needed. Now as for the Beat Elmo categories it turns the need for multiple keyboards down to 1 that spams way more than the regular keyboard.

For single keyboard reference, my single keyboard playing as Bert and fighting Cookie kills him at 11 seconds. Me using a controller playing as Bert made it 7 seconds.

The Elmo record cannot be further beaten you would have to beat them in less than a second each which is impossible

I have one more thing to add to conversation, I have uploaded my controller settings that I feel fit every character's letters into a nice control scheme. They are saved in the resources tab under saves so I guess feel free to experiment XD. Anyways I already tested this out a bit further and got myself boosted from 4th to a 3rd place Beat Elmo - Bert so this is definitely super helpful! (I had to use a controller along with a single keyboard using the Double press strategy so it does not seem controllers are extremely overpowered as I thought). Also I now believe controllers should be allowed in every category besides Glitchless%/Mobile%.

so lets take controller out of ironman%, would it still be legal, say controller mapping just uses macros, would that be legal, what if one button on a controller acted as a turbo for other buttons, or was a macro for a keyboard, since controller would be ok, would that be ok? or not? what is the limit of this?

Well, macros I believe are very much so ban-worthy but I do have to admit it's hard to actually see them. As for the turbo button thing my belief is its just basically adding another keyboard which for the most part is allowed. I mean people run up to 3 keyboards sometimes so just adding mapped buttons eliminates the need for a physical keyboard.

A turbo button for Ironman% might be a bit shady though. It'll be runners with one keyboard compared to a runner that uses a controller that has the same key binded 4 times. I mean if it was only binded once then sure, it would deal the same amount of damage as a keyboard.

thanks, i believe this deserves further discussion, I would also like to say that i regret what I said and may not go through with my return, I got the WR on my 3rd time playing the game, 1st session and i think it would be difficult to beat considering Kurisama's level of patience and optimization, I just wanted to say this before I ended up saying to my friends "sorry, can't play, I'm running Sesame Street Fighter". Congrats Kurisama, you deserve it.

i also wish i could rename the thread from legality in Ironman% to legality in general as it may end up depending on the category you play in the boundaries you could run into. I am also just now wondering if a controller% would be a good idea, I would like confirmation from other moderators and players before confirming that
