For downloading saves I recommend going to Properties -> General -> Steam Cloud and turning off "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for Risen", then typing %appdata% in Windows search bar, finding Risen saves folder and adding the downloaded save to the folder or swapping downloaded save with default one.
