This is somehow my first speedrun for any category in QFG4. But I'm gearing up for a Collection 100% Wizard run, so I've been working through the games in order.

There are two main improvements from the previous WR. First, entering and exiting the swamp seems to increase the hero's movement speed for the rest of the game, which adds up over a half hour run. Second, we discovered that pressing H when sleeping in your inn room lets you repeat that action without having to wait for nightfall, making it much faster to sleep until day 5.

My big routing difference is that I jailbreak Davy, which unlocks the rover camp immediately. If you free Igor, you have to visit town during the day so the Burgomeister announces that he's released Davy, and I want to avoid cycling between day and night as much as possible. I think it's faster this way, but I can't say for sure whether it actually is.
