Death abuse is useful

When you die, you go back to the start of the level, or the last checkpoint you touched.
Another side effect of this is a reset in the cycles of arrows/blades/spikes, it takes some seconds before the cycles start.

You can make good use of it by suicide (pressing 'r') right after touching certain checkpoints, to reset and delay the cycles and make the next section easier.

Also (irrelevant to the speedrun itself), suicide does not count as a death, for the tracking of in-game achievements.

Faster level transitions

Besides remembering the levels positions on the world map,
there are some ways to speed up the transition between levels and load the next one faster:
* Press "space" right after picking any puzzle piece, to skip the menu and get to the world map faster.
* Keep the mouse on the position of the current level, and after the current level ends move the mouse to the next level (short distance move)
* Alternatively, right after entering a level, move the mouse quickly to the position of the next level, and it will be ready right when the current level ends. The drawback of this method is that you have slightly less time to position your hands on the keyboard before the level begins, potentially losing time there.

The games hides the mouse icon while inside a level, so it won't be a visual bother.

Fresh Hardcore Glitch

To start a save file in hardcore mode:

1. Beat a file and unlock hardcore legit.
2. Select hardcore in that file
3. Go back to the menu and select a new file (or even any file without hardcore unlocked). 

You should now be in hardcore from the start. You can tell because when you enter the first level you get an achievement for entering a level in hardcore.

This works for reverse too but level 1 is unbeatable in reverse without any powerups so it's pointless

General movement tips

The game is heavily based on movement techs, so you should be familiar and master the main abilities - running, wall-jump, and double jump.

__Running__
The first important skill you will get, making you faster obviously.
However, while holding the run button, the game might feel like "walking on ice" - You have higher momentum, stopping in precise position is harder, precise platforming sections become way worse, and you might hug walls by mistake (when you have the wall-jump ability, it will slow you down).

It is important to know when to run and when not to - when you stop running, it kills your momentum completely, and some sections in the game are just easier without it (level 10 climb without double jump, for example).

__Wall jumps__
The second important skill, letting you reach higher places. You can do a wall-jump on the same wall, running is required. It is however always faster to climb by chaining wall-jumps on parallel walls.

__Double jump__
Where the real action begins. It has some good uses other than just jump a little higher:

Change momentum while in the air - the second jump stops your momentum completely, so you can use that to stop in a certain position in the air, or move to the other direction immediately if you are running.
It can save you in certain places if you make a mistake.

Faster single wall jump - while chaining parallel wall jumps is the fastest way to climb, it may be easier to climb on a single wall while running, and jumping again while in the air towards the same wall.
