Hey all! I just wanted to share some ideas regarding the rules for full game speedruns:
- Should we be able to change the settings for cruise mode before we do Max% run?
It didn't really occur to me until a few days after I completed my latest Max% run, but I do change my settings like my sound (and potentially the language in future), as well as my license plate. The sound and license plate doesn't change the run, however since changing the cruise settings actively changes how the cruise part of the speedrun plays, I think it should be left to its default settings that a new save gives you.
- Should we pre get rid of the cutscenes for Paris and DC Undercover (both the black screen and the dialogue boxes) for All Missions/All Required Missions/Max%?
It doesn't save much time off the speedruns to prepare a file for these runs, however I thought it was worth mentioning after I thought of the first question. If not allowed, the first cutscene/dialogue skip of whatever city you choose to do first would be the only one skipped as the current runs imply with starting each run from the "press start" screen.
- Is having DLC on a non DLC run allowed even though you yourself are not using the DLC?
This was a question brought up by Blurdecai since he runs the game with DLC installed. In checkpoint races your opponents pick a class of car based off the car you choose to do the race in, and with DLC installed they get to choose DLC cars in the same class. Since you don't get to choose what they choose, I think having DLC installed for non DLC runs should be allowed as it doesn't effect how you play all too much. This would only effect All Checkpoint Races and Max%, and in my opinion in a negative way since you have to scroll through more cars, at least for Max%.

I think being allowed to change cruise settings is a good thing, you are trying to beat the game ASAP by all means possible, it is a game mechanic, so, let it be IMO.

I agree, although that would mean extra work for admin, but maybe add another category, with loading times and without loading times, I think other games handle speedruns somewhat like that, but if we go without loading times, things should be fairer between xbox and emulator, since EMU loads faster, although runs are already split in that regard.

Hehe, yeah, that's me, I haven't done checkpoints or blitz yet due to this, since I have DLC installed. I think having DLC installed is fine as long as you don't use DLC cars yourself, since you can go for Formula Midtown and Stocker (those cars are on CC level), I would always go for Viper in this case. Opponents would still use DLC cars but you only make game more difficult this way, so I think it should be allowed since you don't gain any benefit.
I made a video to show what cutscenes I was talking about for point 2 just for clarification sake. My bad if you misunderstood what I was trying to say.
Oh I get what you meant now, mb, in this case, I think admin has to choose, don't know what else to say, just need clarification and we good.
heyo,

I agree with Blurdecai here. Change the settings of cruise is a normal game function, so I see no reason to ban this. Or do you mean change the cruise settings before the time starts? In that case, I say that has to be done within speedrun time. But changing any other setting before the run should be fine (like audio and stuff)

watching the cutscenes before time starts if you do a both city run. I'd say it is allowed, since it only affects the time a little, but I think you have to show on recording that you pre watch the cutscenes.

I'd say, not a big deal. You can use any car on any level. Since anyone can add the DLC on both emu and real console with a bit of tinkering. And from what I read it only negatively affects you, so I'd say it's allowed.
Thoughts lemme know!
So, I can use DLC cars in a normal run? I ask this, because you can use equivalents of CC (Formula Midtown and Stocker) in a new profile, I would have an advantage over someone not using DLC, since I can use cars as fast as the CC right from the start, that was the only issue.
So we were proposing to only be able to use vanilla cars even if I have DLC installed, that way I will go for Viper instead.
And yeah as you said, installing DLC is kinda easy tbh, at least was easy on EMU, don't know if on console it's the same, I guess you can transfer the DLC files via FTP or something.
Yeah I meant for changing the cruise settings before a run starts Aardappel, I think changing those settings should be done in the run itself. I'm not sure if I'd want to show both cutscenes before a run starts, since it would be a bit time consuming to reset, so I'd say don't allow skipping the city cutscene for the one you don't do first. For context, I have a save state on emulator that's a new profile for All Missions/Required Missions/Max% (with my settings like sound/license plate premade) so I can reset quickly. To add on, I was wondering what your stance was from restarting the run when your on the first level when you fail it, instead of making a new profile (or resetting the save state in my case). It's saved me quite a bit of time and should especially for original hardware runners. And with that said it would make sense to not allow skipping the other city's cutscene if you want to reset quickly.
I'd say only use vanilla cars even if you have DLC installed for non DLC runs Blurdecai, for DLC Checkpoint/Blitz/Max% runs you'd be allowed to use the DLC cars. Btw for Original Checkpoint/Blitz Races, you can use the CC, unless you want to start off using the Viper to start off learning those runs.
Hey everyone,
I've just added all the Undercover jobs as individual levels.
Also, from now on, it's allowed to use the D.C. speed increase Easter egg. For ILs it has been decided to have a category split as using the speed increase makes any IL faster by default (if you have the skill to handle i
