Hello IHNMAIMS speedrun community members,
Kyon here. This speedrun has seen a flurry of activity recently, and some interesting and curious questions have come up from community members. After discussions with the community via our Discord server, I have rolled out some changes to the leaderboard and ruleset:
1. New run submissions MUST include ScummVM Version.
The official Steam release utilizes a version of ScummVM which has not been updated in some time. New runners have been experimenting with up-to-date versions and thus far no major time saves or advantages have been found other than QoL improvements in the VMware itself. That being said, VM versions will be tracked going forward in case of any unidentified time saves. If there are any issues with the versions available to pick from at the time of submission, please DM me.
2. New run submissions will be measured down to the millisecond.
Honestly this is something that has been a long time coming. As overall times improve, there will be more reason to be more specific in our timing method.
3. Hotkey rebinding, through first-party or third-party programs, is allowed. Macros are not allowed.
After a long discussion, the decision was made to allow external keybinding explicitly. As a moderator, I can't see your keyboard and honestly don't care if you press T to talk or rebind it to F13 - or to X on a gamepad. As long as the gameplay is valid and legal, you do you. That being said, the use of Macros (keybinds that perform more than one action per key press) are explicitly banned.
I always try to be open to what the active speedrunning community wants, as long as the end result represents a fair and level playing field that does not discourage new runners. If you have questions, comments, concerns, gripes, complaints, let's chat about them.
