Hi everyone, Dreaming Sarah developer here.
I'm reaching out to warn everyone who runs this game that soon I'll be pushing a new update with tons of bug fixes and some art asset changes. Due to the release of the game on consoles we need to match the versions on Steam as well and unfortunately due to some issues related to the art assets I won't be able to leave the old version as an option on Steam.
This means that if you want to keep the current version, you have a few options:
-
Copy the game files from your Steam game folder (usually located at \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dreaming Sarah) so it doesn't auto-overwrite, put them anywhere on your PC and run nw.exe directly
-
In the game properties change the update option to "only update this game when I launch it", then always run the game directly through the .exe
-
Get the DRM-free version of the game on Itch.io or Humble Store while it's still there (I will also be updating it there very soon)
If for any reason you're unable to do any of these but would still like a DRM-free copy, please reach me out on Twitter (@andreyin) so I can get you one.
That being said, thanks for all your support, I love seeing the runs!
Hi Andre, first of all welcome to the community, thanks for informing about the update.
Glad to know that the game is still being updated
I don't think the community will have any problems with an update, but if there are any problems we are completely open to suggestions on how to improve the leaderboard.
I forgot to mention, there's no full changelog but here are some differences:
- Sarah can now jump from anywhere in water (playtesters thought it was a bug that she wasn't able to jump anywhere so I changed it - its actually a bit faster than swimming)
- Bugs related to dialogue have been fixed (mashing isn't possible anymore - this fixes the annoying bug where the game could softlock after a dialogue)
- Removed statistics from the main menu (I could never quite get this to work 100% so we thought it would be better to just remove it - sorry if anyone used these. Keep in mind that the time it displayed there was never 100% accurate!)
