What about Individual Acts? Using most of the same rules that are for the current NG Acts 1-5, this is what I got:
-Lvl 70 Character. -Any difficulty. -No use of stash/artisans/vendors. -Can set up skills/runes before the start of the run, during "character creation." -Start naked, no Paragon allowed. [a. Similar to the current NG Acts 1-5 where you show the "creation of the character"
- Start up a game, remove all equipment and reset all paragon points.
- When you start the act you're running, open paragon screen to show no paragon points in each category.(ties into the first movement input rule)] -Timer starts at first movement input, in-game. -Timer ends when you advance to next act. [when you say yes to the NPC, not after the next act loads] -Run invalid if someone joins your game. -No pausing

PotatoBacon D3 has speed run achieves in game "Complete Act X in under an Hour" the way people that aren't affileated with Speedrun.com do it is they have lvl 70 characters geared to what ever and then set it to normal dificulty. They are use all the paragon points they want because damage doesnt matter and move speed is capped. They then proceed to play as fast as possible and the only aspect of the game that is random is the generation of the maps. I think that a NG+ would be seriously fun to do especially routing this NG+ 4 players. I think that having NG+ as a possible run would be a ton of fun.
I have talked about this before and personally i'm not a supporter of the idea. I can set the category up though if more people have interest in the idea.
I really would like to try a NG+ I dont like ALL the randomness that NG has I would like to make a fairly marathon safe run
From what im playing ATM it seems really marathon safe i was able to blind run act 1 without any grinding only stopping to kill blue/golds right in my way
if diablo 2 can be marathon safe d3 certainly is
i played D2 a LONG time ago, but it definetly felt MUCH more difficult than 3 is, so i have to agree with you there
I Think each class should have a category just like D2 has, hardcore/softcore doesn't matter too much.
I would love to do as WD but no point if all the top runs are gonna be monk
I'll add the other class categories and move the runs to each respective category afterwards. This will take a while since i'm currently on a tight schedule.
Would you be opposed to adding Co-op (2 players, 3 players, or 4 players) runs because you cannot have followers in the solo runs?
Followers are allowed these days and the categories you're talking about have been there for a long time (check misc categories)
I have an idea for a category like diablo 2 where you go through every difficulty i would say that you need to go through normal to master with the normal NG rules
Lightrock thats so specific though. I do get what your saying it would be like an D2 100% run. But hey if a large portion of people like it I can add it
How about a category where you have to play the whole run on hard or expert mode? In normal mode you can basically just run through all the acts almost with any gear and basically use same skills the whole run. This would mauby allow for more tactical approach to the game and you couldn't pass the bosses with just standing next to it. In d2 normal difficulty is way more harder than in d3 so it works fine there, but in d3 normal difficulty is just too easy and it wont really challange players enough.
You can just start running on e.g. Master only and post your runs :) Even if there isn't an official category yet, nothing is stopping you from doing it - And it might even inspire others to join in! I think I could get interested in running a harder difficulty, I'm just afraid the runs will take a lot longer and currently I don't have a schedule that allows for it.
