Note: This strategy and route are outdated, and have been superseded by bear goomba strats. You can still use this tech, but it's not WR viable.

What is it?

The Library Puzzle Skip is a way for us to skip the Nightsong puzzle in the library in the Gauntlet of Shar. At the time of writing, obtaining the Spear of Night is necessary in Any% All Acts runs, and this strategy is used to save a significant amount of time that would otherwise be spent collecting books and dealing with the Library encounter.

Setup

Before attempting the skip, you'll want to do the following:

1. Set your framerate cap to 60. It's technically possible to pull this off at a higher framerate, but it becomes increasingly difficult as your framerate increases. The running theory is that a cap allows us to input multiple actions on a single frame. Anecdotally, some runners can pull this off just as easy regardless of frame rate cap. Play around with it and see what suits you best.
2. Bind "Interact" to Shift + Scroll Wheel Up/Down. This can be a different key + scroll wheel depending on personal preference, and it doesn't matter whether it's scroll up or down as long as you're getting the input off quickly enough. The goal here is to make it significantly easier for us to spam inputs.
3. Optionally, set your Tactical View bind to `. This isn't necessary if you'd rather not rebind keys, but it makes panning your camera easier.
4. The character you're using should have Enhance Leap set on them. In Any% All Acts, this should already be applied to your character via the infinite status duration glitch.
5. You need a wooden barrel. This can be obtained on the way to recruiting Shadowheart in Act 1, or at the start of the Shadowcursed Lands in Act 2.

Performing the Skip

Use the video above as reference when learning.

1. Dragging the barrel from your inventory, place your cursor on the blue dot below. Then, drag your cursor directly downwards, and place the barrel on the first pixel that it becomes possible to do so.

2. Move to the area shown below (where the character is actively moving to).

3. Perform a spam jump over the barrel at the angle shown below. If you've set your binds as indicated in the Setup section of this guide, this can be done by holding shift, spamming Z, and scrolling your mouse wheel up/down (depending on which bind you chose).
