Forcing specific map usage in runs feels very arbitrary and shouldn't be in the rules

Exactly as the title says, really. It feels like there's no point in saying you have to do this run entirely on AM or SC, or start on AM and then move to SC - the latter of which feels especially out of place for a few reasons.

First reason, the anniversary edition hasn't forced the player to move to SC for the pups quest for at least a year or so now. The playerbase now is most familiar with staying on the same map the entire game, because that's the most convenient way to play. Making the rules force users to simulate an old, outdated way the game played out is detrimental to getting traction on the leaderboards. Second reason is that you aren't allowed to pause time for the loading screens during this process, meaning users must eat up a time loss - which is very obnoxious. This also puts an inherent disadvantage on those with lower end PCs, which will usually be poorer people, because their computers can't load into the next map as quickly as those with higher end PCs, which are typically richer people.

The entire "make new wolf, start on AM, then exit and take new wolf to SC, and no pausing while the game is on loading screens you can't do anything about" set up for any% is... in lack of better terms? Ridiculously, needlessly complicated and annoying. (and since any% is supposed to be any%, and this forces the player to do more than just completing the game without major glitches /exploits, makes it not feel like a true any%, if that makes sense?)

I will say I understand this kind of rule being in place for doing something like the No Vacancy challenge in multiplayer on Slough Creek, but enforcing a rule about what map you have to be in for that is also pointless because Slough Creek is the only map with that territory config anyway, so players have no choice. The rule would still be redundant.

Sorry if this comes off as harsh or anything like that. I'm not intending for it to. I am annoyed by the map rules, yes, but I am legitimately trying to help improve the leaderboards with bringing this up, not chew anyone out.

I'm hoping we can gather as many active community members and vote on some rules and stuff, this rule being the biggest. Chedder, it seems, had to set up all this stuff pretty much alone. The active runner community is not so active. If Chedder is willing, maybe we can schedule a date to have a vote, and give a little time to try to contact runners who are not often active as well as those who may want start running.

I don't think a vote has any chance of happening, not because of me being willing or not willing to host one, but because this game is simply inactive. I've been alone moderating this game since it was added and I'm fine with that role.

The any% is Amethyst Mountain and Slough Creek only because of how inactive the game is. I've expressed several times if the game begins to be popular enough for running again, I'm completely willing to adjust rules and add categories, but quite simply and as said several times, this game is inactive.

I understand the frustration and I appreciate being informed of it but this is at least the third time I have explain it's just because the game is inactive.

I'm exhausted. This game was inactive for well over a year and still is.

The rules weren't updated to the latest versions because they came very quickly and I simply haven't had time to make rules that work for every map. Its for the sake of moderation. Until the game has a point to be updated more, it's like this to keep it fair.

I'll adjust the Any% to allow to be runned solely on Amethyst Mountain and you can resubmit your run to be verified.

There's no required graphics for any run. In the kindest way possible, if someone is running it on the lowest graphics and the game still can barely run, I'd recommend running 2.7 instead. That isn't about money.

The current rules have been sitting in a document for about a year and a half, almost two years now. I couldn't keep letting them sit around so they were updated to be more professional.

If there are issues, please directly message me instead of making forum posts. It's much easier to discuss there.

Again, please contact me directly next time this happens, it is significantly easier to handle there, at least for me.

Until the game has more active runners and I have time to do it, I will not be hosting a vote for rules. Again, I'll update the rules to allow Any% to be run on exclusively Amethyst Mountain now and your run can be resubmitted and verified.

Any% is beating the game start to finish. It wouldn't be beating the game from the start if you already had several parts of the game done. You don't start a Hollow Knight speedrun in the middle of the game. You don't start a Rain World speedrun after sheltering. You start at the very beginning, that's what it means.

Load times are simply not a WolfQuest-specific issue. It's a common rule for load times to be included in the time. Plus, its a singular load screen that doesn't take nearly as long as the one starting the game, which does not count for load times as the run starts after.

Thank you for informing me of the issues.

Quick rule fix

Fixed a few rules mistakenly telling players to stop time at the "You've Grown Your Pups!" popup instead of the "Congratulations!" one.
