Hey guys, sorry to bother;
As I submitted my first run to the leaderboards, I was uncertain on how the timing worked, how it starts and where it stops, since it wasn't specified on the rules... (just to notice, the glitchless category rules state that glitches are allowed; I believe that's not intended)
So I compared my video the the current WR on the Any% (Glitchless) category,
From my understanding the timer starts on the same frame you press the "start game" button, and ends on the frame where Wario hits Captain Syrup with the Mecha Kuri.
If that is correct. I noticed how both my timing, the current WR and a few of the submission on the leaderboard are incorrect.
I am aware that it's difficult to correctly determine when the player presses the "Start" button using video editing, since there are no visual queues, but simply comparing the WR (by the runner Werster) with the current 3rd place¤ (by the runner Hubz0r), a noticeable difference exists.
¤(since the 2nd place video of that category has a broken link)
I have compared those two videos and placed a mutual timer just to prove my statement:
I understand this doesn't change the leaderboard too much, since how the leaderboard seem to be rounded by the second. but it's a shame to see that runs aren't re-timed by the moderators that verify the runs.
In my submission the re-timing I've made would be of 11min 19s 260ms, so it shouldn't really matter.
Apparently werster before started the game with a different timing, but then change that and now it starts as it should from the moment you press start in "new game". To solve it I will add it in the rules of each category to know where the timer starts and ends and also different rules for glitched and glitchless subcategories.
About the re-timing I feel that it would be more relevant to do it when they are WR runs or even Top 3 in any of the categories since the milliseconds do not matter so much for runs that are not optimized in the leaderboard.
Sorry for the late reply again.
Thank you for the reply be it late or not,
I understand your last statement regarding my run, since it's not even close to a good time, But regarding the current WR, the re-timing I did, where the timer starts on the "new game" button press and ends when Syrup gets hit, the WR would instead be 8:33.03, and not 8:32 as it's on the leaderboards (as shown on the previous video).
Also, It would be nice if the current runner that holds 2nd place would be contacted to fix the link, it's would be interesting to compare the runs and see if the timing is accurate there as well.
