When streaming and you disconnect, there is a popup that tells "reconnecting in 10 sec", accompanied with a short sound effect.

I don't want that popup to appear in my recording and I don't want the sound effect. Is there a way to make it run in the background and mute?

(that isn't to say I'm going to do any livestream in the future, but just for future reference .....)

in obs chat plugin, the chat badges don't show my custom icons anymore. Maybe the css code changed after twitch changed their layout. Help?

Anyone have a list of badge css classes?

you could probably add a leaderboard for the special edition game. I haven't played it yet and there is no run for it I think. But I'm just saying you could.

I think this is something that shouldn't be overlooked. So I'm going to make a topic about this...

Apparently Fuzzyness is using a code in his adventure mode speedrun to make the triforce appear in the same place every time, thus making the run more execution-based (by removing a luck-based element).

What is stopping anyone from going ahead and calling it cheating? And is the run, when finished, going on the leaderboards, just like that? It is unfair to those who don't have an AR (as well as those that have it but are unwilling to use it).

The point of an RNG heavy speedrun is that you have to endure through all the attempts until the luck complies. (See Kirby's Dream Land.) But when using a cheat, you just bypass that and the point of that speedrun category is defeated.

Edit: I can see why the code is used. I'm just saying it, in some way, defeats the purpose of the speedrun category.

Trivia: Back in 2008ish when I was competing in 1P mode, people that ran event matches would strictly frown upon anyone who dared to use AR to make Peach always pull same item/pokeballs/etc. Not sure what it's like nowadays, but I'm under the impression it's still not allowed and I think keys didn't do it in his event 50.

In story mode, if "show minigame explanations" is enabled, does it show a screen for Frightmare at the end?

Cause I will leave it enabled in my TAS otherwise, since I'm going to never play a minigame. I just fear that it will have a disadvantage later.

Germanymugg19918 years ago

I never see anyone use it why

I have also been wondering if you can abuse this more by making Mario slide back a lot on some ledge/slope. Maybe it's possible in TAS

I'm under the impression that using a debug menu is not allowed by the typical any% definition.

So I request that you rename the categories in light of that.

Any% --> Any% Debug Any% No Debug --> Any%

I was curious...

In the english version your crew sings some rhyming song for 2 minutes, but I know that was cut out in the german version. Apparently in the french game too?

You can't skip the song in english, right?

so there's that rather new trick where you can warp up in the air, if you know what I mean.

Is it frame precise or how does it work?

And does it not work with hover nozzle?

What's with ? is not confirmed yet.

I'm going to make a new script. I know some speedrunners will be interested to use it for planning/routing. What do you think the script should be capable of doing?

Looks like health bug does work on GB but it is different... and messes up the game severely...

Needs investigation

Germanymugg19919 years ago

As anyone reading this might know, the US/EU Super Gameboy Version is superior to other versions of the game because

  • it has the health glitch
  • the glitch route can be done on it
  • fewer enemies than on GB and Japanese SGB

Unfortunately it proves to be very difficult to get a cartridge of this version. This thread will be used as a knowledge base / to discuss how to best hunt for the SGB version.

Country codes: (DMG = Gameboy game YS = Game specific code Last letters = region specific code) What is really odd is that the SGB labeled cart turned out to be GB. There may be a chance that there are a gazillion versions, imagine 1.0 GB, 1.1 SGB, 1.2 SGB(different title screen now). However, if this was true, that 1.1 can't do health bug.

DMG-YS-UKV = Unknown

DMG-YS-UKV-2 = Unknown = Has been seen with Original GB label

DMG-YS-NOE-1 = seen with german text alongside on the cover "Herausragende Seite" + SGB label = Plain Gameboy

DMG-YS-USA = May be either or

DMG-YS-FAH = Seen with french text on the cover + Original Gameboy label = Plain Gameboy

DMG-YS-ITA = Unknown = Was seen with Original Gameboy label

Right now, I'm trying to contact various ebayers to ask them to check their title screen (since the SGB version has a different look on the title screen). I have not gotten much feedback from them yet, but will update the above country code list as I get more infos.

I think this could help you with level routing or other things

I have also put an experience chart and stat growth chart earlier in that thread.

VBA is way faster than normal. There are some areas that make the game lag for 30 frames. Also pausing takes similarly long.

In VBA each of those things only take 1~2 frames. I think throughout the game VBA might save about 2 minutes due to this wrong emulation.

I saw mgba core in bizhawk emulates the game correctly.

looks like this game is getting TASed (maybe) by my fellow man arandomgameTASer since he lost our little bet.

So if anyone here knows of some weird time-saving tricks or glitches, please tell them here.

Jettoast starts timing from title screen, I think So his time is actually 28:42 or 28:43.

EDIT:

I timed it as Frame 51709 (0:28:43.633) (1 Player select ~ Last hit).
