Hi, I currently moderate a Galaxian series, and there is a few games in question I feel should be added to this

http://www.speedrun.com/galaga http://www.speedrun.com/Galaga_NES http://www.speedrun.com/nmgen6 http://www.speedrun.com/nmbc http://www.speedrun.com/Namco_Museum_Remix

I feel these should be added, due to their affiliation with the Galaxian Series

Hello, I am requesting mod for the Pac-Man Series, as well as removing the current mods.

Recently, an issue has been brought up causing problems in the community. The current mods have been treating us (the community) disrespectfully. Because of this, some people have cut off communications with the mods.

Here’s an example: (timestamp: 9 seconds)

It would be in the best interest of the community if we removed the current series mods from all the Pac-Man series games, as they hardly do any modding on any of the games except Pac-Man World 2, and even then the decisions they make for that game are poor and only benefit themselves, rather than the whole community. (If proof is needed, I can supply.)

any% would really be defined as get form start to end and just list the timing process. For 100% list the timing method, then the collectibles required

New York, USAlozplyr897 years ago

Well maybe on SRC we can have it just be Any% and Hundo? Then have toadless (specified collectible) no vibe. Etc. On a different board so that the leaderboard doesnt get clutter with less significant categories, and keep Any% and Hundo on here for more universal access to updated strats that really matter perhaps?

I did an Individual Level Speedrun with the timing mentioned above, if you'd prefer a different timing method, by all means, go for it. But this was more of a "demonstration" than an optimized run.

New York, USAlozplyr897 years ago

Can Individual Levels be added to the leaderboards? It can be used to optimize specific levels with demonstrations of these more optimized routes, maybe have them timed from pressing the level to hitting the goal. And have sub categories being with/without additional abilities

Im highly considering running this game, as it was a game that stook out to me in a good way when I was younger, Now I have a few questions if you don't mind?

  1. Is emulator allowed? I cant really capture my DS very well, but I've been thinking about which I prefer.

  2. What is the learning curve? This might be a dumb question to ask, but if any insight that'd be great as it gives me a better Idea how I want to start. If so any specific tricks or things that i need to know? I havent watched your run yet, but I will very soon.

  3. Easier communication Would it be okay if someone made a Discor server or something? Atleast so info, and help, and communication can just get around quicker and easier, as some people dont check srcom a crazy ton.

EDIT: 4. Is there anything exclusive to other regions or any clarification on differences at all?

Thanks in Advance! -loz

Me and Lazer have been thinking about submitting a Galaxian series for awhile, and I could be jumping a gun here, but it has been submitted.

The arrangement versions are under their own games on the certain games they were released on, like Namco Museum for example. And we kinda decided against '91 and '88 before due to the different enemies and patterns, and for them to be separate games on the website. Same goes for arrangement being too different to classify under the same game. Expanding "Galaga" itself would be better off on a "Galaxian series" instead of throwing all significantly different versions onto one leaderboard

Hello Pac runners, I would like the address the leaderboard sub categories for those of you that either don't know and want an explanation, or want to know why we did it.

Now to start with we have to understand the original Pac-Man is a simple game to play. But not a simple game to port apparently because there's an abundance amount of various ports of the game, and many of them are different. Most importantly the difference remains in the Ghost AI.

Now, optimally, we would want to manipulate the Ghost movement in according to our movement so that we can get a fast amount of points quickly, and ghosts are the fastest way to get points in this game.

So, since there are so many different versions of this one game, there would obviously be some issues. And because the Ghost AI manipulation is such an important piece of the run, Rallis, and myself, have decided because this changes routes dramatically, we would split it.

Now the main current sub-categories are NES Arcade and Pac-Man World 3. This is because each of these have notable different ghost AI. Now, they arent the only ones, and we should still have to pay attention to versions like the Atari 2600 version, or the Coleco Tabletop version etc. Due to the grand obscurity of these versions, we won't be adding sub-categories till a later date, when someone asks for it, and provides a run for the specified category.

Now, I compiled a youtube playlist of some notable versions of Pac-Man and came to the conclusion that most are similar. Versions like the GB, GBC versions are rather faithful to the Arcade in terms of ghosts. And for versions like Pac-Man World 3, and, the NES version, they were very different.

Now, all the versions in this playlist belong to Arcade, minus NES and Pac-Man World 3.

You can find the playlist of demonstrations here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc2TMukCACwBSpKh5DDx004cUN06iA1wW

Now as for the route I took to compile this together, it was the first part of the old NES route with a small difference, but all the movement was practically identical.

With that being said, thank you for reading, and good luck runners!

Now that this has come to our attention Main category: Challenge stage 8 has been added to the leaderboards.

In addition, Challenge stages 1-7 are being added as misc categories as well

  1. Yes, for all the completed levels and failed attempts you take the IGT and sum it up

  2. Yes, All Areas You must defeat the boss, and 228 Stars is Finishing every level with the maximum amount of stars, including the 6th Area Boss

3.You may interchangeably change difficulties, it is labled "Normal/Hard" just to divide it so it doesn't get confused with Categories such as All Areas, as All levels Normal/Hard doesn't need a star benchmark

Thank you! If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Quick Question: Why only the NES version? Instead of other versions too, like Arcade versions/Plug and Plays etc.

New York, USAlozplyr897 years ago

Did you totally disregard the boss changes?

Fast load times doesn't = Faster Version, you have to take ¤everything¤ into account

New York, USAlozplyr897 years ago

Japanese PS2 is faster than Xbox, im sure, as the slower skips for xbox, and the level changes and the boss changes make JP PS2 the 2nd faster version, because it easily competes with the Gamecube Version, imo I feel Xbox should be third on this list and JP 2nd
