a while back someone had reported the same thing and the only thing that i thought of that could have been causing the discrepancy was whether the game was downloaded onto external or internal storage, although i dont really have a way of testing whether this would make any difference or not. i have the game downloaded internally for reference
i really like this, could definitely work as a good miscellaneous category
only issue with that is some items cause a lot of lag making any time save basically nonexistent, so you would have to hope you dont get any of those. any hit to the outfield thats recovered quickly (which can be hit fairly consistently with enough practice) would not be much slower, if at all, than a bunt, item or not
i had realized this myself some time ago, but unless some form of rng manipulation is discovered with blue yoshis questions, going to peach will likely remain the better route. admittedly, i may not have tested it as much as i shouldve and i may go back to testing this at some point as honestly, there is some potential
you more than likely had mercy turned off, as going to 11 is perfectly fine
i run a deluxe so that likely isnt why theres a difference
it might have something to do with downloading the game to a usb storage device rather than the system memory, but i have absolutely no idea if this is the case
Poshact's run still exists on twitch ( is the link to the run), I guess the video can just be replaced at some point if possible
nope, you cant get the same type of hit twice in a row. most you can get it is three times
Before I begin my explanation, I self title this the StratManJan (a very different title than the RatManJan Strat)
For the Bowser games in All Characters, it is ideal to get hit by the ball to get on base easily. However, you can only get hit by the ball when Bowser pitches extremely inside. With the StratManJan, however, you can change Bowser's pitching position, causing him to pitch more inside or outside. A video of the strat:
As you can see in the video, pausing the game after Bowser has taken position but before he winds up his pitch causes him to go to another position. This almost guarantees getting hit by the ball, as it causes a shift in his position. Additionally, this removes all randomness that may come with hitting the ball with any of the Kritters or Petey. You of course can pause multiple times to shift his position more if you need to. Be careful though, as when he begins winding up his pitch, you cannot pause, making his position final
So I figured out how I did it. Basically, I was swinging my Wiimote aimlessly, and I guess the game registered my swing before my + button press to skip the animation. I replicated it earlier today, and I compared it to a decently fast pause skip (faster than both pause skips performed in the WR (maybe)):
As shown in the video, it seemingly does save time, but it's almost negligible. Additionally, you cannot perform this before going up to bat (as far as I know), making the time save extremely limited, as this is only done twice. Whatever, a time save is a time save.
TL;DR swing your Wiimote aimlessly to save maybe half a second
Interesting. Do you know how you did this or was it an accident each time?
Hey, since I'm fairly unfamiliar with the community I don't really know if this has been discovered yet, but when I was doing an Any% run (this was probably gonna be a 15:2x or smth but Bowser did not agree), I went up to pitch and this happened:
Usually, what happens here is that you pause to skip the animation Mario does before he pitches, but what happened in the video is that the pause menu seemingly didn't show up, yet the animation was skipped. I have no idea how I even did this, and more importantly, I have no idea if this saves time. I think it might be able to if fully optimized, but it purely comes down to if it can be replicated. If anyone has any possible explanation for what happened, could they possibly say not only what happened, but how it happened as well? Thanks.
also sorry about not muting the video now you all can hear me complain haha!
