So I was looking into getting into soulstice as a speedrun but the length of the run seems kind of daunting. Would the community be open to making IL leaderboards so that runs could be done in bite sized chunks? Using the end of chapter score card would make timing easy as well.
So I was looking into running this game because I like the core Magicka series but all the runs seem to be about pulling off the water mines combo. I was wondering if there is a category that bans that specific tech so the level have to be played mostly vanilla (barring teleport oob shenanigans). If not a watermineless category might be a fun addition but feel free to shoot me down.
Upon frame by frame analysis, using the timing of the replace sword text turning grey, I found that both of the top runs were slightly off. The run by Kass was timed as a 36:36.89 when it was actually a 36:36.51. The run by Synamaur was timed as a 36:36.33 when it was actually a 36:36.36. This makes the new WR Synamaurs' by .15 seconds. I will be taking feed back if anyone can show me errors in my timing methodology but for now, I would like to congratulate both runners on amazing runs and on practically tying each other.
Might have uses else where, the glitch that made me find it was hilarious.
Are we no longer enforcing frame caps? the last 4 runs to get approved have had higher than 60 fps based on the last night cut scene being all around 1:03 instead of the usual 1:11 and if I'm allowed to run the game at higher fps for free time saves I would love to know
So, apparently to prevent a softlock, Super Giant made it so the fetch fight after grant and asher just doesnt happen if you dont have an attack equipped. All that said, if you swap to just jaunt at the end of bracket towers, you can skip the fight after the swarm cutscene. Yay doing the second man fight in low% without load as well!
So I am interested in getting into FF XII PC but I had a question about seitengrat. With an application like shown here: you can track the rng values to time entering the airship on the right frame and then opening the chest on the right frame. Would a tool like this be allowed for the speedrun or is tracking the rng like this disallowed?
For those interested, there is now a World of Light Bingo Card available on bingosync.com which you can find in the dropdown under Smash Ultimate: World of Light. Right now the card is primarily meant for fresh profile World of light runs and has goals intended to be completed before defeating Galeem though I am interested in expanding it if anyone has suggestions. I also have a guide I compiled to help run the light side fights to help ease routing a card without having to scour the internet for resources available at https://bit.ly/37k7TKd
If you have any feedback or suggestions for maintaining/upgrading/updating/expanding it, feel free to pm me and GL on your runs.
So I was teaching a new runner the game and he accidentally discovered a new fight skip in highrise. The fetch and weed fight at the top of the elevator auto scroller can be skipped by disjointing a save into their arena and from there you can proceed to do the elevator glitch as usual to prevent the soft lock at spine. I will get video up in the next day or so.
A quick question to the Transistor Speedrunning community: should the invisible button, which allows a player to gain an extra skill at specific levelups, be allowed in Low% since it doesn't award xp or levels or should it be banned? This button off screen in Port 37 allows the player to gain a skill they chose not to take if their last levelup was a choice of multiple skills. It doesn't technically award a level or any xp but it raises a interesting question for Low% regardless. Here is a video of the glitch in action below:
So I found a new set of skips available in Bay 1. The gist of it is to finish the 3rd fight outside of the area you get locked into before the Transistor forces you to focus on Platt. Spamming Turn as the fight ends allows you to walk through walls in Turn. Using some clever out of bounds you can collect Jaunt and then leave Bay 1 skipping the first Lady fight and the two Jerk fights. Video explanation link:
So, in an effort to expand our community a bit, I have started working with www.bingosync.com to create a plugin on their site for Transistor. The boards goal list is built off of the assumption that the runner(or runners if you want some friendly competition) knows the common any% speedrun and expects them to do additional fights or go out of their way to get extra cut scenes, lore objectives, or to do weird skill based challenges for the goals.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and I can provide the goal listing if you guys want to see all the goals that are in the available pool. Also feel free to ask me any questions if a goal is unclear because I know I can be a bit cryptic. Hope y'all have fun with it! >.<
I decided to learn the Low% as I would like to submit it and Any% to SGDQ next year but I am having trouble on the route, specifically the Young Lady skip right before Sybil. Can anyone who knows the route explain the OOB movement for me? I can't seem to get a feel for where Red is while she is off screen.
