We always love seeing new people joining us in the speedrunning community! Currently there isn’t much activity but it all comes in waves. If you want to run glitchless then submit a run and I’ll make the category. I’d maybe do some reorganizing too.
Hello,
Recently after much discussion between the current Top 3 runners, we’ve decided to change when we end the run’s timer.
Previously, one would stop the timer once the characters hand touches the floor in the final cutscene. This takes place 1 minute and 35 seconds (almost exactly) into an unskippable cutscene with no gameplay afterwards, making it pretty arbitrary. Now we will be ending the timer upon interacting with the cryopod (pressing F). It was a fun and sentimental time to have for a while but as this game grows and the time gets lowered, we’d like to have a more accurate display of how long it takes to beat this game through playing it.
Since there’s only like 10 runs on the leaderboard, I will go through and deduct 1:35 from all times to accommodate this new change. The next time we’d have an adjustment to the timing that I can foresee is if/when and auto splitter is made but that wouldn’t be as important or impactful to the leaderboard.
Thank you for understanding, feel free to message me or reply with any comments, questions, or concerns.
I've been testing about getting further but so far to no avail. no holes, no one way collision, no respawning with saves. Not yet anyway. i'll keep going. Huge.
Update
HUGE
don't want to be presumptuous but i think we found the beginnings of our fart skip
after getting back (didn't take long it's pretty consistent after playing with it enough) i managed to find a similar route that took me right past that door you need to boing through with the cart. Massive time save
After the setup for Tombaugh Boing skip that DillyDogz19 shared with me, I managed to clear over the invisible platforms above Tombaugh's roof and walk towards the transmitter and then right at the drop off and managed to get myself onto the ceiling of the control room in the hostile ASE section, using an open corner to drop into the room, this kept the low moon gravity for the rest of tombaugh and I was able to do what I would like to call "battery skip skip" where I didn't have to get the batter to jump up the stairs and let the monorail fall before the reactor section. More experimenting coming soon.
That’s crazy. I’m super interested in that boing that sends you flying. I’ll try messing with that myself to see if I can get something, because that would certainly be a sub hour run if we could get to the end of Tombaugh like that. Thank you Dilly!
Yeah especially since doing Tombaugh entry normally after missing the skip loses ~45 seconds, this is pretty good
Yeah doesn’t work. (Yet). “Movement” starts 1:15 after cutscene starts and I hear the timer but can’t press f to get o2
I’ll time the cutscenes when I get home and see if I can move at all, probably no camera usage so a blind setup would have to be keyboard only
Do you think if we time the cutscene of falling down we can get control of our character while the Sarah cutscene still plays?
I couldn’t even get it to trigger at all. What did you do?
You cannot use it after Rheinhold to start the cutscene early (yet)
BUT using it in Copernicus to activate the monorail, on a lesser pace, saved 17.5 seconds on it's own
this saves way more than 15 seconds
can this be used after rheinhold to activate the cutscene?
An interesting addition to the boing glitch. This video is from a month ago so it’s pretty new. This seems to be caused by the player being just below the fuel cell, like it’s on the slightly raises part of the floor which may cause it, as evidence by the fact that it didn’t happen when they were on the same part of the floor. Could be useful maybe not, we’ll see.
I couldn't believe how you beat my time by 17 seconds, without even getting the cutscene skip like in mine. I watched both runs side by side to see what happened and with the timer pause discrepancy taken into account we we're separated by a lot until end of reinhold/Tombaugh, when all you did was make fewer mistakes than I did, so many fewer that you came back from being almost a minute behind to 17 seconds ahead in the run. You've truly proven that you are the better player of the two of us. Congratulations my friend!
I hate this room so much. Found a way to skip through it.
Ok so reviewing my video, I don’t do the faststrat but I can explain it a bit here first. I run past the pillars and take the blast a few times because it isn’t fatal but you’ll see me waiting especially long after I reach the next one to avoid the next blast. I learned that I can keep running and, by taking a tight line, make it behind the next pillar before the blast, and by then you’d have fully healed up to repeat the cycle and get to the end.
