Yes and using a cheat engine to find out information on a potential skip is a method we’ve used in the past, which is how we know the rocket chair is available in fesenkov from the start. The invisible wall above the gate only goes so high and leaping over it would allow us to skip that section. But we’ve all tried to find a setup with the staircase to get a launch to no avail. With some more manpower who knows what will happen anywhere in the game.

Hello friends,

This thread is a place to add any new discoveries, shortcuts, tricks, and ideas to work on. Here we can add so far the resolution descale code and any hotkeys we find useful. I will also include this google drive.

Dilly mostly put it together. Every save point in the game to practice any point. Some may be obsolete given routing but here they are. All the best!

I’m all in favor for this. Anything to make it more fair and accessible to everyone.

It’s so clean..

I see a second of timesave from a fast-ladder right at the start after hopping boxes up to the elevator. Your line is incredibly tight the whole way through. The first 3 minutes are like watching a machine, it’s beautiful honestly. But yeah that fast-ladder combined with maybe an even tighter line or finding out how to do a launch over the 2-valve gate is the way to go I think. And yes we tested with cheats, if you find a way over that invisible wall above the gate, the rocket is open and ready. Would be a massive timesave. Haven’t found a setup for a launch though.

Ok I’ve just set up some stuff with individual levels. Let me know if it worked.

I never took them away, had no idea why they popped up either. I’ll bring them in, would have been fun uploading my 9:26 fesenkov to it but alas it’s all gone.

Beautiful run. I applaud the effort you put in to make this happen. Congratulations my friend, DU BIST WELTMEISTER

Some certainly are more obvious than others, however most of these are exploited elements of ‘intentional game design’. For example mailboxing is simply having the ASE do its perfectly normal respawn but positioning your character so that the respawn is behind a door or wall. That could be up to debate. Sleepy skip is similar although it seems more an oversight from the developers than anything else. The Tombaugh launch is absolutely a glitch in my view. Massively exploiting momentum mechanics and launching out of bounds, and really all out of bounds tricks.

We’ll just have to see I suppose.

Sorry it took so long to verify, I never got an email that a run was submitted! Good time, it’s nice to see new faces here. Keep it up, hopefully it won’t take so long for the next lol.

We always love seeing new people joining us in the speedrunning community! Currently there isn’t much activity but it all comes in waves. If you want to run glitchless then submit a run and I’ll make the category. I’d maybe do some reorganizing too.

Hello,

Recently after much discussion between the current Top 3 runners, we’ve decided to change when we end the run’s timer.

Previously, one would stop the timer once the characters hand touches the floor in the final cutscene. This takes place 1 minute and 35 seconds (almost exactly) into an unskippable cutscene with no gameplay afterwards, making it pretty arbitrary. Now we will be ending the timer upon interacting with the cryopod (pressing F). It was a fun and sentimental time to have for a while but as this game grows and the time gets lowered, we’d like to have a more accurate display of how long it takes to beat this game through playing it.

Since there’s only like 10 runs on the leaderboard, I will go through and deduct 1:35 from all times to accommodate this new change. The next time we’d have an adjustment to the timing that I can foresee is if/when and auto splitter is made but that wouldn’t be as important or impactful to the leaderboard.

Thank you for understanding, feel free to message me or reply with any comments, questions, or concerns.

I've been testing about getting further but so far to no avail. no holes, no one way collision, no respawning with saves. Not yet anyway. i'll keep going. Huge.

Update

HUGE

don't want to be presumptuous but i think we found the beginnings of our fart skip

United Stateseewalktub1 year ago

after getting back (didn't take long it's pretty consistent after playing with it enough) i managed to find a similar route that took me right past that door you need to boing through with the cart. Massive time save

After the setup for Tombaugh Boing skip that DillyDogz19 shared with me, I managed to clear over the invisible platforms above Tombaugh's roof and walk towards the transmitter and then right at the drop off and managed to get myself onto the ceiling of the control room in the hostile ASE section, using an open corner to drop into the room, this kept the low moon gravity for the rest of tombaugh and I was able to do what I would like to call "battery skip skip" where I didn't have to get the batter to jump up the stairs and let the monorail fall before the reactor section. More experimenting coming soon.

That’s crazy. I’m super interested in that boing that sends you flying. I’ll try messing with that myself to see if I can get something, because that would certainly be a sub hour run if we could get to the end of Tombaugh like that. Thank you Dilly!
