select your 8-4 framerule (~515 or so, just click 'faster' or 'slower' depending on the time)
next, you want to find a matching bowser fire, this is more important than in standard SMB1. the hammer patterns will more often than not, vary slightly from the "actual" screenshot of the pattern so it is very much recommended you take note of the bowser fire.
lastly, you want to find the hammer pattern. fortunately, the bowser fire aids in narrowing the patterns down a lot easier, so the only thing you will need to do is get a framecount of your run as a rough estimate. typically the majority of hammers are in place as normal, but 1 or 2 are positioned differently due to no hammer bro being stomped in last room. something to note is that the final time ends up being 6 frames faster due to lag frames, so for example instead of 3:40.986 the site will say 3:41.086 on the pattern of the run.
i've tested this on like 23057013713058 framerules and they've all worked so i'm p sure it's consistent:
do RoyLGoodBars as normal, but bonk wall going into corridor, this makes all the bars completely good and you don't even have to do the duck jump at the end
beginning of post is labeled (Useless) bc RoyLGoodBars on its own is already a really good strat and doing anything extra is unnecessary so e
not sure if anyone has ever seen or done this so i figured i'd upload it, sorry if this has been done before.
(sorry for bad quality btw)
Hi all, I've decided as a Christmas present to all of the Baldi runners, Soda Spray% will now become an official category on the Category Extensions leaderboard.
Good luck, and thanks to everyone for making this game go as far as it has so far.
- Eddie
This thread may only be used to request a category for the extensions, and not the full game.
To have a category allowed on this leaderboard the category must have 2 or more runners, and there must be enough people interested in having it as a category.
Your submission should look somewhat like the following:
Category name: Number of runners: (please fill out usernames) Link to user's own run: Why you think it should be a category.
Have fun!
Ok, call me crazy that I just found out about this page, but I'd like to become a moderator for this game. I'm always on src so I'd always have time to check the queue, and I do not have a current job so I could start verifying as soon as I wake up.
Hope you can accept my application Cosmic! And thanks for looking at it.
I would like to apply for mod. Since summer break is starting, and I'm frequently on PC, I will always have time to check and verify runs if you decide to add me.
If you do add me, I can get to verifying runs right away (except the ones that require suspicion, of course) but it's not a must to add me. I figured I'd ask since I've been playing this game off and on since around 2014.
When I timed this run I thought he got lag frame on BBG, since I had been told lag frame occured when the screen shook. Having this in mind, I found the pattern on the spreadsheet (4:57.543) and added 1 extra frame for lag.
But it turns out he didn't get lag frame, which would make the time 1 frame faster and a tie for 5th place. Can a moderator please change this time to a 4:57.543?
I made this thread because I haven't saw anyone else do it yet.
Skybutt (1st pixel on the flagpole) - good judges: Skybutt (1st pixel on the flagpole) - bad judges: 2nd pixel on the flagpole - good judges: 2nd pixel on the flagpole - bad judges: 3rd pixel on the flagpole - good judges: 3rd pixel on the flagpole - bad judges:
Edit: (9/23/2019): idk if i messed up making this but afaik this is accurate
Youtube: Coleton Scandin Fairly new runner, here are all of his PBs if a mod wants to add these times to the leaderboard:
5:06
5:03
4:59.840 (i retimed it)
4:59.174 (also retimed by me)
So I saw my 8-4 IL got verified, and all of my other submissions were rejected due to them being obsolete. I do not understand this, I would still like obsolete runs to be on my page, so can you verify them please? Thank you, hope this isn't too much trouble.
Are give-ups allowed in the run? Just curious because I got a 17:51 with 2 give-ups, and I don't know if I want to submit it yet.
Does anybody have a good tutorial of how to do the ladder trick in the cave of 1-1? (to skip using the bombs to break open the intended path) I've only been able to do it once, and I have not replicated it. (I'm using Toad)
During September I plan to speedrun any% Mario for real (on video and whatnot), but due to import issues, I cannot get a FDS, only an NES reproduction cart. Why is it not allowed?
Hello, I created this thread regarding the "Times under 5:00.00 need to be streamed" rule. I'm not trying to start a fight, but wouldn't it be better if it were "Times under 4:59.00 need to be streamed"? Because a couple runners including tavenwebb have had 4:59s done offline, therefore it doesn't count on the leaderboard. But honestly, it's clearly 100% real because you can clearly see the NES Classic menu, so therefore it's clearly not fake. Now, take your time to think on this. Thanks for reading, feedback of any kind is appreciated.
Hello, I've made this thread because I've been having lots of trouble with 8-2, any tips?
