Probably your finest work this decade

Additional Category?

Right now I'm going back and forth on deciding if I personally feel like there is an absolute strategic difference between First Loop and 4 Loops. Due to the Big 20#16, I'm comparing the feel of this game with Joust and Loopz.

Joust currently has goals of Wave 39 (end of loop), 50K points, and 100K points. Logically, a person striving for a good 100K points time, would also be getting their 50K points time in the same attempt.

Loopz Game A has 25/50/100 Loopz goals, again a completion achievement tied to time. Fortunately Loopz has additional game modes out of the box, for a more elaborate leaderboard overall.

Eunos has been doing a very in-depth deconstruction of Arkista's Ring and the preliminary results of that research indicate to me that the optimal routing for a First Loop time would not ultimately translate into the ideal Four Loops time, despite having a huge advantage on time. To get a good 2nd loop time, you really need Elf Arrow or better.

Would anyone be interested in a category of All Treasures? Fastest Time to get Elf Mirror, Wealth Amulet, and Arkista's Ring? Timing to stop at the collection of third treasure, whichever it is?

Would anyone be interested in a category of "100%" (for brevity) - All non-consumables and Ultimate Bow & Ultimate Arrow?

I like how the game is played, and the game routes you, you can't really open a set of splits for a category and target it, you direct your run based on your skill and ability to navigate the RNG outcomes. With additional category considerations, the game may have increased joy, and more finished attempts/submissions. The goals would be to increase clarity on what to expect when starting out on this game, and increased joy and replay-ability for really accomplishing extremely difficult times (when your RNG finally hits). This will also incentivize exploration in how to manipulate full runs in the distant future.

What are the potential definitions for your complete collection game categories? What is desirable, popular, fun, and most importantly, different from other categories? [Extreme, 100% in Zelda 1 normal board, and other rulesets].

RetroArch is a shell that can load many Emulator Cores - including the FCEUMM, which is lag accurate. Additional research should be done to reverse this mandate, or expand upon it. RetroArch is a good tool overall, but if it cannot produce accurate times in ANY of its configurations, it must continue to stay banned.

Not sure exactly where the ending is currently being timed to. My past submissions I busted out the abacus in Avidemux and counted up the frames based on what I felt was Start through last boss HP. I feel like we're closing in on each other, at least. Not interested in changing the timings, as it seems like all directions are imperfect still. The bosses can be alive with empty bars, and I time most of my splits to the name disappearing. The final input is where I time to on the final boss. It is important that J-RTA games are sometimes timed to the THE END screen, but that may not be a popular opinion in this game.

Ok. I'll change the platform and reverse the time then. For competitive times, please try and broadcast your boot sequence and Super NT video settings for easier, faster verification.

I've added the ability to select the regular Super Gameboy (SGB). Submitters and Approvers will probably use: http://nudua.com/convert to convert your run from SGB to a valid time.

I think the look and feel of the original Super Gameboy is kinda neat; and already obnoxiously difficult to play on; so there's no reason to exclude the platform entirely.

Tech Specs and Procedures: 61.17 fps SGB 59.72750056960583 fps GB / SGB2 / GB Player If you divide these numbers you get 1.02415. You can increase your run by that factor (2.415%) to get a converted time. The longest time in Game Boy Tetris is under an hour (or 3600 seconds, so I recommend following this procedure:

  1. Convert your SGB Time to FRAMES or SECONDS
  2. Multiply that number by 1.02415
  3. Convert that resultant into the time format on the leaderboard, whether it be to the second or millisecond [Future Proof]

Again, it's easier to plug your time into: http://nudua.com/convert - and this is what verifiers will be doing.

You are the hero we deserve. Thanks for the leaderboard polish. I was able to get as far as I did on a mobile device at a baseball game.

I clarified the rules for the 100 lines rules. It did not explicitly exclude ? level settings but it was vague. I have added the ability to specify your start level on your runs, but as a result had to default all existing runs to level 9 so the leaderboard was not neutered. Sorry for abrupt change! Modeling after Justinmans advice and the state of the NES tetris boards. We'll help resolve any conflicts going forward from this new attribute (Start Level)

As far as I know the 3DS vc is true emulation. The only arrangement that is explicitly banned is Super Gameboy for the SNES since the framerate is faster (1.02x)
