There is a hack called "Mother 2 Deluxe" that was updated a few years ago, That was deemed too difficult to speed run.

Looks like it will be getting another update this year to address the difficult for speed runners. Would anyone be interested in trying to run this one ?

That claims it is impossible to speedrun. Is this true and are there other earthbound hacks like this ? Hope everyone is doing great this holiday weekend.

It feels odd to have someone trying to change my mind after I have already cast my vote... If only the top 5 record holder's opinion matters Then you are welcome to ignore my input. I have run the game bi-weekly offline for the past 7 months. Maybe if COV-19 was not a thing...I could have spent more time working on beating my personal best. But it really hurts to have the world record holder discredit everyone with a slower time than theirs. So if it is currently proven that there is not a difference between Real-hardware & emulation...there is your answer. In closing, I take speed running as a hobby. If running this game 10 hours each day is the only proof of someone being a "serious speed runner" Then I know where I stand in this community.

Just realize we live in the same state ! Well, with everyone's help, I was able to cut my 5+ hour runs down a bit. Still have been unable to beat my personal best from 7 months ago. Been playing offline each week, but have not made it under 2.30.00 Not really hip on how to stream and such. Also, what is the most popular category ?

Well, since this is a vote... I am 'YES' for separating runs by platform (emulator/hardware). With the top times about a minute off and all using different platforms I am okay with the separation.

Been a busy few months since release And have distanced myself from the hack during that time. However, it has been a treat checking out and replying to the feedback over the past few days. I plan to make the Beta-Playthrough videos public on YouTube this week. Might spread them out over the next few days. I still want to get the hack to the point where people feel comfortable speed running it. Once all of the videos are public, I want to create a guide for the game But, since I am a bit new to this site, might need a little help being pointed in the right direction. Also, is there a Discord that members from this group use ?

So I have noticed a new section here called "Sub-games" Now would that be Romhacks of this existing game (Final Fantasy Legend II) ? If so how would one submit a sub-game ? I would like to submit my hack "GBATemp Legend II" as a game to be speed-ran. Would like to add information to the "Resources" tab if possible.

Thanks for the heads up and it was a great attempt ! You will be able to find some clips from my BETA playthrough, starting tomorrow. I will showcase some of the changes And strategies used to tackle the bosses of the game. I think you will really like the new money routes in the HACK

Thanks, I have noticed many people have downloaded it And looking forward to people to start streaming it and speed running it soon. It was a bit tricky to learn how to Hex-Edit and figure out the offsets for a Gameboy game But I am happy with how it turned out !

I believe there are a few, but most are dialogue or localization edits. The "NEO" one is really ambitious, but my skill level it not that high yet ^_^" With that said, I encourage you to check it out I plan to start uploading short videos to help new people walkthrough the game.

Awesome, I would like someone to run through the game at bit to get some feedback. Hmm...I would not say harder But for the first half of the game, your party can be stronger than normal. Because of that, things were moved around and changed a bit. Bosses, on the other hand, might take an extra turn or two to defeat. It really comes down to what kind of party to chose to start with. Also, I have now finished final checks/testing today. So the hack should be public tomorrow or Monday. After that, I just need to know what I would need to do To setup this hack for speed running.

EDIT Hack has been submitted on romhacking.net It should be visible in about 24~48 hours. I will also try to get it hosted on other sites. Now that the hard part is done... How do I set up this hack so it can be speed ran ?

Hmm...figure I would make a reply after so many 'EDITS' Finished my playthrough of the hack ! There are some challenging random encounters and boss battles But it really depends on your team setup. Overall, I feel that I have simplified the game to a point Where even a new comer to the game could speed run it. Going to take this week to review a few things and make small edits. After that, I plan on releasing the game with a change log To help future speed runners have fun with this game.

Hard to say, at the moment. But open to share the change-log after it is finished. With that said, I can keep you up with the progress. I have just tested "First World" and everything seems to be working okay. Will test our "Ashura's World" this weekend And continue from there (making changes along the way)

EDIT After a lot of trial and error..."Ashura's World" is complete. Moving onto "Giants' World" which should not be too tricky. Since "Apollo's World" is after that...will take a break then do more testing.

EDIT #2 Small update, Giant's World and Apollo's World is complete. Guardian's World should be simple and then onto Venus' World. Almost at the half-way mark...I hope people will be able to speed run this hack

EDIT #3 Update again, Guardian's Base Ruins, Guardian's Town Ruins, and Monster's Lair are complete. Just starting on Venus' World...but plan to take my time while testing a few things. Also, I feel like "Race World" will need some special attention. At the half-way point now, and while I feel like my skill is limiting what I can do I am happy with the updates I have made so far !

EDIT #4 Another update, Completed "Venus' World" and "Race World" Might go back an change some things...but as of now it works as is. Starting on "Edo World" now Currently trying not to spike the difficulty too high >_<"

EDIT #5 Progress update, So "Edo World" is now complete It took a lot more effort to get the balance right. With a little practice, it should be speed runnable. However, depending on your party setup The RNG can make the boss battles challenging. Next...I am going to skip over "Nasty World" And focus on "Valhalla World" and then "Final World"

Awesome, knowing that someone wants to try it out will keep me inspired to finish it. It should take about two weeks to finalize my own rom hack. It looks like I will study up on Hex-Editing And then make the changes I want afterwards ! I will try to make it easy to speedrun
