I also don't see many people running Expert, but it has been requested in the past so why not. I like the idea of "Any Difficulty" and "Expert Difficulty". Don't really mind the extra words in there.

I noticed that there's a Google Docs leaderboard and the leaderboard here on speedrun.com. I also noticed that the Google Docs one also has the Glitchless category, that doesn't exist here. So what's the main leaderboard of this game, the Google Docs one or this one? And if it's this one, why there's no Glitchless category here?

If I were to pause my emulator in the middle of the run, would that invalidate the run? Sometimes I have issues with my controller and I can't properly pause the game. If I'm doing 105% for instance, it's pretty likely that something will happen to my controller, since the category is longer.

Am I allowed to pause the emulator and resume when i get my controller issue fixed?

I updated the splitter to v1.3 a couple days ago and forgot to post here. These were the changes:

-Added support for version 2.0.9.1. -Made some changes related to when the script was active (hoping that it fixes the autostart/splitting on finales problem). -Removed a couple useless variables that existed in the code.

Apparently 1 defib is guaranteed on Highway. Using director_debug_scavenge_items 1 I was able to track down spots where the defib would spawn. However, I found 2 spots that weren't marked when I used the command mentioned, so there might be some other hidden defib spots. Here are the spots that i found: http://imgur.com/a/dDlQM .

Hey, Demon!. I'm not the most knowledgeable on L4D campaigns, but i guess that for Sacrifice 1, if you have autoshotguns, killing the tank is faster, since it just melts. Skipping the Tank is possible, i'm pretty sure, but shotgunning him to death probably is faster. And about the shotgun spawns, they might be a little out of the way, not sure though.

The one thing i'm sure about is that we do have a Discord channel. It's mostly for L4D2 speedrunning at the moment but it the games are pretty similar. Here's the link for it: https://discord.gg/HHJcT5C

I bet that Master and deagle can answer to those comments a bit better than me.

Version 1.2.3:

-Fixed the "Autostart on cutsceneless campaigns" (Now it should work properly). -Fixed the splitter pausing the timer when the "exit" command was used in the console until the game was relaunched.

After doing some research today, I found out that a chainsaw and a grenade launcher are guaranteed on Fairgrounds. There are 12 spots for them to spawn, all listed in the following imgur post: http://imgur.com/a/fLyGE .

All the testing was done on Newest.

I think the discussion is pretty much over but I want to vocalize my opinion anyway.

Having the Misc category for the map runs is great. That way you dont have 50 subcategories for a category Then you can either do solo and coop subcategories for each category or do solo and coop categories with only the maps as subcategories. The first option would be better, in my opinion.

Having the version column would be interesting. Introduces the same distinction we have in L4D2.

In case I missed some other change, I'm okay with said change. As i was reading the thread I agreed with the ideas that you came up with, Master. Just may not remember all of them as of right now.

And about porting the splitter, I just need a copy of the game. The sale will be over soon.

Version 1.2.2:

-Fixed "Autostart on cutsceneless campaigns" autostart based on having the flashlight on and made it check for having control over your character (as it was supposed to be but oh well)

I guess you could keep the ILs where they are and keep the single campaign runs where they are too. Just splitting solo from coop is enough (even though nothing stops you from getting solo times and submitting them in the current format, it's just not as rewarding)

If the timing method changes to be equal to L4D2, i could try to port the autosplitter i made to this game. The games are very similar so shouldnt be hard

Updated the autosplitter to version 1.2:

-Changed the autostart logic so it autostarts on custom campaigns. -Added the "Autostart on cutsceneless campaigns" setting to make the autostart feature compatible with Drop Dead Gorges. Having this setting on won't affect autostarting on other campaigns (at least, it didn't to me). This also causes the timer to start on every level (because it behaves just like the start of a cutsceneless campaign).

Turning this new setting off if you are not doing Drop Dead Gorges is advised, since it can get quite annoying if you don't want the timer to start (or just disable the autostart during practice).

There are 3 movement tech that i can think of right now:

Neutral Slide Jumps (NSJ), done by sliding, releasing every directional and jumping before the slide ends. This one can be a bit hard to learn, but my advice is to remember that you have the whole slide to hit the Jump button, so you don't need to rush your inputs. Don't hold the X button though, as you lose speed mid-air (only do it if you need the extra distance to clear a gap or something).

Glitch High Jumps, done by spinning right after you jump. You basicly roll your thumb from your X button to Square. Usually done after a crouch/slide jump, since it gives the most height, but you can glitch high jump on regular and double jumps.

Zigzagging, done by swapping between forward-left to forward-right inputs. This is also hard to learn and should probably only be implemented in runs once you are very confortable with the game movement and got a decent time. It works if you are sliding or mid-air and only works on Crash walking levels (so, doesn't work on Coco/Vehicle/Underwater levels). Also, a well zigzagged slide spin is almost as fast as an NSJ, so that's why you may see some runners slide spinning a lot.

Another advice is to use R1 instead of Circle, because then your thumb isn't so overwhelmed with inputs (glitch high jumping going Circle-X-Square is fairly harder than R1-X-Square, for example).

Aren't you required to host the server since it's a custom campaign? I thought you had to. But still, I think that going through the menu should be required at least on coop: everyone should be there when the campaign starts. Even if every player in the team can load during the campaign load, people with bad computers or connections might not be able to do it. Then we would have competition again because of hardware quality. Going through the menu seems like the most fair way to tackle the situation. For solo you could just use disconnect and map. I don't think that that would create any trouble for low-end computers.

i think that the first option is better. having people to reconnect when someone is waiting on the server just so you restart the campaign after people connect sounds more clumsy than the first option i think
