I agree with this. It took me a while to find top runners from my country because speedrunning in my country is an incredibly niche community. I had to manually scout through the leaderboard before finding players like kiryukoe and juhorse
Unfortunately, I’m not completely sure if you can change that in src, it might be just how the website itself is built. It’s a good suggestion though.
Yes, a maximum of gamma=5.0 is allowed, for the time being.
@Pooply not sure if the mods are aware, but there’s a glitch with snow where if you go into F5 mode, you can sometimes position your camera such that you can see under the world (to look for underground lava and such in tundras). I’ve done it on accident in runs a couple of times, but I think the mods should add that things like these count as glitches and aren’t allowed (because it’s basically xray).

It’s death% not %death

It already exists

It’s stupid and shouldn’t exist
-
Stop talking about it, everyone’s heard enough about this category

!fuckoff
Pretty sure this guy is just talking about whether he can change to third person and backwards view. Yes, it’s allowed - in fact, it’s encouraged, because it gives you a higher FOV for looking around.
We don’t need to do anything about it, Dream has zero relevance to anyone in the speedrun community except people who just can’t let it go. People cheat in speedruns across all sorts of games all the time - dream is just one of them. We’re not treating him any differently.
He’s not one in a hundred million. Without the upper bound, what happened to him was a fucking 10 sigma event.
Mods please lock this I can’t take this level of mental diarrhoea.
Deserts have more lava pools. Oceans are a possibility for a magma ravine portal.
Or you can watch k4’s vid and learn lava dowsing.
It’s allowed, but you’re never getting a WR with that. If you just want a nostalgia blast then sure, nobody’s stopping you. But if you want a good time for pre-1.9, then 1.7.2 is the obvious choice.
If you’re talking about co-op speedruns, they’re a separate category to solo runs (for obvious reasons), with their own rules.
It’s not an official version, it’s a snapshot. And snapshots are illegal.
Sorry, but this category will never be added.
I second this. FPS boosting resource packs decrease the load on your GPU and not your CPU - whereas when playing at max render distance, your CPU is the one throttling. So changing to, say, an 8-bit resource pack isn’t going to help much.
Anyway, you’ll soon find that having max render distance, while helpful, isn’t strictly necessary. I have a bad computer and I play on a render distance of 10 just fine.
Tip: if you run peaceful because of the mobs in the nether annoying you, try setting your render distance to two when you’re in the nether. It greatly decreases the odds of you getting bothered by magma cubes in the basalt delta area and also makes skeletons less likely to kill your run at the soul sand valley.
Are you talking about the bit travelling through the basalt deltas where there’s sometimes lava source blocks at the flat area and sometimes there aren’t?
If that’s what you mean, it shouldn’t affect the run that much.
Everybody gangsta until somebody does a full season of a let’splay Philza-style in one sitting, without the elytra
Just search YouTube for “Minecraft tower strats”.
The block height you’re looking for is at least 128 blocks up. So you need two stacks of leaves at minimum, and ideally more.
The question isn’t what is the best, it’s what is allowed. And what is allowed is Optifine for versions 1.0 thru 1.15. Optifine is banned for 1.16+, with Sodium, Lithium, and Phosphor the FPS boosters allowed for 1.16+.
That’s all you can use; the only other option is to play vanilla.
Well then you could just sit down and do a full let’splay. Pretty sure that counts as a “speedrun” - just a very safe one where you get incredibly stacked first and set up multiple bases across the world.
And it’s not as if let’splays have no downtime. You could always sit high up in the sky using your auto mob farm as an excuse to afk during the run.
You’re not allowed to do that at all. The timer starts when the world loads in. Anything else is wrong, including those runners you’ve been watching.
If you don’t want to start the run straightaway, bring up the pause menu before you start the timer. As soon as you’re in the world and not paused, the timer should be running. The only situation in which looking around is permitted is in co-op runs, where the server owner typically heads in to check the seed before doing /time set 0 just as the other players join in.
