Greetings. I'm pleased to announce this is now a category. You can now find it under "misc" where the other magus category is.

Hello!

I saw some people asking about 100% Glitchless (old threads) but I wanted to mention that I've created notes for this category back in 2020. They're based on Puwexil's/JP Strats. Since posting these notes the amount of runners have nearly doubled in just under 2 years.

100% Glitchless on PC has also become a thing. It has become competitive quickly! DS has been lumped with PC/Steam and have been given their own leaderboard.

I use to say that the PC version is 30mins faster; however, we're starting to see a 40-50min difference. The animations in battle are faster compare to SNES. Load times for zoning is quicker, a bit faster battlespeed (BS), and near instant text are a few of the reasons for this version being faster.

ATB works faster on PC/Steam (not sure on DS) In short use BS 4 for most of the run and use 6 when you see BS2/3 on SNES version notes. I will eventually post PC notes (again, not really different - but I have a hard time of settling for BS to give to new runners)

The NG+ content is not a part of the 100% Glitchless category. NG+ content being the bonus dungeons and the quest. I don't think NG+ category extensions should be a category at this time, but I did route out Dream Devourer as an marathon incentive. For me, it's more of a fun thing to do. All NG+ quest (quest added for DS/PC/Steam) never seemed interesting to me, and I also don't feel that it should be a leaderboard category at this time. I think if the amount of runners grow and after that point enough become interested in grinding said other categories it can be a thing. Not my call, but that is how I feel about it.

Additionally, I've been working on a central source for all CT information. This is by no means to replace the CT wiki http://chrono.wikidot.com/

I've added the CT Master Document under "guides"

Breath of Fire 2 runner and community member here. So far the switch version has looked good as far as using it for speedruns. I would say its a firm no on allowing rewinds or savestates of any sorts

I didn't want to make a new thread to promote the full run, but I have created some full commentary/tutorial videos for any%.

The first video was done in 7:50:xx - this was done with the first version of a glitch that I found "the herb glitch". This run also does some different routing and has some safer strats than the second run (minus the fact of no infinite AE heals that you gain from the moondrop glitch)

The second video has full commentary for a 6:58:xx run that I did with the improved herb glitch "herb 9.0" which is what I called it; when I first found it, but moondrop glitch is how I normally refer to it. Search for bof II and one of those terms and you will find my videos on explaining them on youtube. This run also has some routing optimizations and tech changes for several fights.

Once I get back into BoF2 Glitchless I hope to add more resources and information. I have a set of notes for it but they are outdated, but are available if anyone really wants to see them right away.

Hello all. I started to speedrun about a year ago. I have been watching speedruns for many years but I never really thought I would speedrun. I always wanted to see a BoF2 speedrun but there wasn't a lot of information readily available. That desire made me interested enough to try running the game for myself.

I started with Breath of Fire II Glitchless and then moved into the any% category. This category has came a long way! It was just a year ago that the run broke into sub 8:00:00 territory and a few months later Elmagus got his amazing 7:09:XX run.

Since then a few new glitches have been discovered, which has cut everyone's time by at least 40-50 mins. The WR is now at 6:35:00 with room to improve. The glitch also made the run really safe for you have infinite AE healing items that also revive fallen party members.

The run is also interesting because there are no sequence breaks; again, we have some amazing glitches. The game play also changes up. You spend the first third of the game mainly doing physical damage. The middle part relies a lot on magic, but melee is still used. The last third of the run has a really nice balance between using magic and physical attack. The run is not a spam of dragon powers.

If you are familiar with BoF2 mechanics you know that the dragon powers consume all of your AP. With this glitch we don't spam or use the dragon nearly as much.

So What about this Terapin%?

This category was created so that people could get use to the game or for people who can't dedicate the time to do a full run. Getting a 1:30:00 to sub 2 hours should be easy to achieve within a few runs. At a high level the run can get to 1:10:00 - 1:20:00.

By learning the first part of the run (Terapin%) you get to learn and do the switch glitch (swch glitch) which has many forms. learning how to do it for one implementation means that you can do all of the glitches. There are several videos on youtube on how to do this glitch. This is used to get infinite money, duplicate armor and weapons and get bugged weapons (moondrop, herbs, van extract)

In this category you will get a chance to see the awesome power of the Moondrop weapon.

I have made notes and created a video tutorial for this category.

Hello all. I made a video tutorial and notes for Terapin%. This is a category that we created to help new runners who may be interested in learning the BoF2 speedrun or don't have time to run a full game. We have the category on the leader boards. I hope for the category to become a "Boogey Tent%, Kefka at Narshe, ect. for BoF2 one day.

The run can quickly be grinded down to a sub 2 within a run or two. Sub 1:30 would not take much to grind and a 1:15 - 1:20 would put you at the top end.

The BoF2 any% run has come a long way and learning this fire part is a great start. The run gets much easier after this category ends (actually last 2 bosses are easy)

The Breath of Fire Discord would be the best place to get information on this speedrun, any% or glitchless. I just want to spread the word about the categories that we have.

I found a glitch in BoF2 and we had a relay race coming up on the RPGLB channel

  1. I developed it a bit upon finding it before sharing
  2. It would have been unfair to use the glitch over others not using it.
  3. even if I got a good time once I did a run and people saw it they would've used it no matter what.
  4. Sharing it (after teasing it a bit and improving it a bit) after teasing for a bit... it turned out great! Runners used and developed strats that I didn't think of.
  5. After our big event relay I found a new improved version and after teasing it again and improving it a bit more I shared the results and it lead to great overall innovation. Again, I could've held onto it for months and came out of no where but it would've been copied and other runners helped carry the benefits beyond what I had originally thought. I think by trying to build on it a bit of where you think it should go... there is nothing wrong with that.
