It would 100% be a category extension, so you are in the right place. If you complete a run, show it in the Discord and I can make a category. We don't make categories without runs.
Hello! Yes, this is a well-known glitch and is referred to as text storage. It occurs when you start a new run before seeing the "Story Mode Complete" screen in the same session. Just some weird shenanigans with it buffering it at a later point (it can happen as early as Boston iirc). Obviously banned.
As a general note, with the exception of THPS1 (with no PC port) and THPS2 (with a not-easy-to-run PC port), it is 100% recommended you run a Tony Hawk game on the PC version.
- This isn't required, but it may delay your run's approval due to having to account for loading times.
- THPS3, THPS4, THUG1, THUG2, and THAW have community-approved mods that allow for PS2 controls and also have general QoL fixes for speedrunners.
- Also, generally, if you can run an emulator, you can run the PC version.
GENERAL RULES:
- Runners must disclose their emulator + version number in all submissions (all runs before June 12, 2023 are grandfathered).
- Emulated runs must show their FPS using an on-screen counter provided by the emulator (i.e. epsxe) OR with an information bar also provided by the emulator (i.e. Project64 1.6/1.7).
EMULATOR-SPECIFIC RULES:
- ALL emulator features (save state, fast forward, etc.) are banned DURING an attempt.
- Emulator features that allow speedhacking are not allowed.
- Patches for emulated runs are not allowed.
- With the exception of Counter Factor being set to 1 on Project64, runners are not allowed to modify emulator settings or utilize third-party software to mimic the loading times of consoles or alter how fast or slow a game is ran in real time or upon loading.
The following emulators are the only ones allowed:
- N64: Project64 1.6/1.7 & Project64 3.X (2.X is banned)
- PS1: epsxe 1.9.X/2.X
- GCN: Dolphin 5.0 (stable)
- PS2: PCSX2 1.6.0+ (stable)
- Xbox: NONE
- PS3: Latest RPCS3 build
- DS: Latest DeSmuME build
- GBA: mGBA 0.10.0
- PSP: Latest PPSSPP build
If you have any questions about these requirements or wish to request a different emulator, please bring them over to the #rulings channel in the THPS Speedrun Discord. If you are having issues setting up the emulator OR PC port, please put them in #tech-help .
Hey! We went ahead and made a new category on the category extensions board we have: https://www.speedrun.com/thpsce/level/THPS12#THPS12
Don't mind how scuffed it looks on there.
Edit: moved it to https://speedrun.com/thps12ce
Hello! We went ahead and made the change to make it a category for the category extension board we also have. For now I have a section for specific levels, but I can add a full-game category in a little bit: https://www.speedrun.com/thpsce/level/THPS12#THPS12
If we do add the full-game category, I would also add a rule that allows you to submit a segmented/level spliced speedrun (otherwise I feel like it would be hell to get a full run completed).
As soon as a run is completed, hit one of us up on Discord and we can get it settled!
We don't tend to make new categories unless someone has at least one run in it. We would keep it on this board, but once someone runs it we would add categories for other consoles.
It would be cool, but Speedrun.com doesn't offer good high score leaderboards. The ones around are kind jank, at best. Sorry!

We will be placing a one week speedrun embargo upon release. This means that you will NOT be able to submit speedruns until Friday, September 11, 2020 @ 12:01 AM ET. We are doing this to give ourselves time to determine the categories and rules, and it also discourages players from trying to speedrun immediately instead of just enjoying the first good Tony Hawk game in over a decade. You are still allowed to speedrun, of course, but you will NOT be able to submit until that date.
-
Categories and rulings are still up in the air for now. The best we can think of is that Any% and All Goals & Golds will be there, but other categories and sub-categories are unknown. With the one week period, this will give us time to figure this out for sure.
-
Another reason for the embargo is to give the community (mostly Fog or Hekigan) time to develop an autosplitter/loadless timer for the PC version. If you would like to work on the console autosplitter/loadless timer (using, probably, ROMaster's tool ( https://github.com/ROMaster2/LiveSplit.VideoAutoSplit ) ), please let me know!

Moderators, as of now, are still being decided among us. For the first few weeks, we will only be allowing current moderators to moderate 1+2; this will most likely change depending on activity, how many players we actively have, and other variables. We will approach you if we want you as a moderator!
I hope this post does enough to detail our plans. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or ask in our community Discord!
Welcome! :D
We haven't had a full chance to really delve into determining rules, but you are free to join the Discord on the right. We will be discussing the rules up until next Friday (when our embargo lifts). :)
Hello! Yes, the expansion pack does slow down the game by a couple of seconds. I don't have the exact total on me, but it is enough to warrant top runners to be strictly using the jumper pack!

With the advent of 1+2 on the horizon, I want to take this opportunity to discuss some things:

We won't create any new categories without at least a video.
Apologies. 99 times out of a 100, it comes down to time. I'm, more or less, the only active moderator of most of the Tony Hawk games, including THAW. In the near future, hopefully we will have some people step in to help fill the void left by the old guard (especially since I'm very busy lately). Your run is approved, along with the other ones waiting.
(Again, shoutouts to SR.com's terrible notification system)
Project 8 works in that all you have to accomplish to get into Project 8 is Am goals. After you get into Project 8, Pro and Sick ratings matter even more. When we get Pro or Sick during a run, it is just a coincidence and it has no effect on the run itself.

Both current moderators have been active for over four months to a year or longer. Tknology doesn't seem to have a Twitter anymore, and Haolecake has been inactive for a half year now.
