Not sure if this has ever been discovered before but I just played through the Standard Edition of the game completely today in order to route it and when I created a new account to start a run I discovered that I was playing against 8 players in Amarillo, it turns out I had kept the Yellow Star from the previous playthrough even though I was on a new account. I'm not sure if this applies to the other stars though I imagine it does. The only "fix" I could find is closing down the game entirely and relaunching it.
I've not seen this on Premium Edition, I imagine a bug like this should not be allowed in the speedrun as it's almost like a form of NG+ rather than Any%.
Here's a video of me showing the bug:
I assume so that the rules can be set up and all, just wanted to ask.
Since Any% is pretty optimized by now, I was wondering if there was any sort of interest in an alternative category. A while back I had one called "88%" where the objective of the run was to get 8 of the 9 possible achievements (since you can't get both Ultimate Saviour and Ultimate Bully in 1 playthrough) and beat the game. I ended up removing the run since it was hard to tell when an achievement was actually completed according to the game but if there's interest I'll re-add it.
I'm surprised that there isn't a Basic Training category, well I went ahead and did a run of it for fun. If you decide to add the category here's my current PB.
So for All Cases, I've noticed that the current runners wait during the credit scenes before continuing the run as normal, while this makes sense, would it be allowed so that after the final objection on Turnabout Goodbyes you could just exit out of the game and relaunch it to start Rise from the Ashes? It would save several minutes of waiting and make the run a bit shorter.
The current rules for 100% state that you just have to win every race in Competition Mode, while this is fine I'm not sure that's the correct way to be defining "100%" for this game.
I propose that 100% includes beating Competition Mode, obtaining all characters and unique boards. While this seems like a long category, it's probably more fitting.
Either way no one is running the game anyway but I'd be interested to hear any feedback.
I spoke with themataurian on his stream and we discussed the potential for a Discord server for runners of this game. So here it is: It's a work in progress server at the time of posting however it's a place to discuss the game, strats and showcase our PBs. Here's the invite for those that are interested: https://discord.gg/58XQNyD
Googling "Cool Boarders 2 records" shows a few level times submitted to another website, I think it would be a good idea to have these records added to the IL boards as well.
(NOTE: THIS NO LONGER WORKS)
In patches of the game from v1.0 onwards there are certain glitches that were fixed, most notably the wall clip glitch. If we were to have pre v1.0 runs compete against post v1.0 runs, the playing field would not be even (hence why they're currently separated), however you can go back to the pre v1.0 version by opting into it on Steam. Here's how:
-
While in your Steam Library, right-click on PC Building Simulator and select 'Properties'
-
Go to the Beta tab
-
On the dropdown menu select "career_v1 - Legacy (old) career mode"
-
Close the Properties menu and launch the game.
-
Wait for the game to update back to the old version and play!
If you're running using this version though please make sure you submit your run under "Pre-v1.0".
There's quite a few times that are tied to the second, but I imagine that they're not tied down to the millisecond. I think future runs should be timed in millisecond and perhaps retime the top two 100 Lines runs to see who really is first place.
As we saw a couple of days ago, trademarks were made for Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. Of course that doesn't confirm any sort of release yet but I imagine it's very likely to happen.
If Link Evolution gets released, what will that do to the leaderboard? Will it be updated or will there be a new leaderboard entirely?
I suppose it depends on whether or not it's an update or re-release. This question is probably too early to be asked but it's something that will need addressing.
Also as a side note: I've noticed that it's taking a while for runs to get verified, if you need another mod to help out with verifying runs I don't mind doing it.
If you unlock most of the game, you can play as the opposing side on all the maps, for example you can play as the Yellow Turbans and the route is a lot shorter, is this allowed?
Is it even worth having Vs 2 and Vs 4? Should I update to just have Vs 1, 3 and 5?
The answer is probably 'no' but I want to make sure. For endings like Whiteboard and Broom Closet, is it allowed to also do another ending alongside them? For example say I do the Broom Closet ending, do I have to reset or can I continue onwards and do the Freedom Ending?
Don't know if it's been brought up before but how come Tetris 1989 hasn't got any categories? Since it's similar to the Game Boy version of Tetris how about 100 Lines, 100 Lines Lvl 0 and 300K Points categories for it?
Hi, I'm interested in running this game but I don't own it at the moment. I was going to buy a copy online but I thought I'd ask first if it is compatible with Windows 10? Cheers.
Isn't the All Hands a bit unrealistic to have as a category considering the odds of getting a Royal and Straight Flush? You'd have to play literally thousands and thousands of hands before you finally got them. idk I think the idea is amusing but pulling it off would require extreme luck or multiple days of playthrough.
Hi, I was running this game and came up with a possibly improved strat to the one used in the WR run. I wasn't able to get it recorded all the way but I hope to do so in the future.
The idea is to start in Yong Ai first and produce a Hex Mark Saddle to get access to a horse immediately which can then be used to speed up the battles. I also liked getting the Light Orb but I think it'd be faster to not worry about it.
Rather than playing as Lu Bu I instead used a Maxed Out Edit Officer with the Rapier since it's Musou Attack is ridiculously overpowered against enemy officers. Perhaps this is the way to go in the future?
Also I understand why having more officers is good, but surely it'd be faster to just have 1 and simply Station them wherever you need them to be so you don't have to worry about the others? During my run I had 3 Officers and started with 0 Lietenants.
The PB I got was 1hr, 2mins and 36 seconds, mostly due to menuing mistakes and I also missed a couple of bases during one or two of the battles I was in.
I'm not saying this is best, I'm just putting it out there as a possible improvement.
Edit: Did another run with only 1 Officer and got a final time of 54:11. Looking back however I think having at least 2 officers is useful since if you end up missing a base you can order the other one to grab it for you (provided it's still neutral of course)
