Thanks jelluh! Will give it a shot. I figured out the problem was that the menu boot language had to be japanese. Worse comes to worse, I'll install a JPN wii home screen but I'll give gecko a crack first.

Heyo; I just bought the Japanese disc copy of Galaxy 1 and tried to boot it from the disc channel. It showed up fine and then it booted but continued to stay on a black screen, no audio. My PAL wii's softmodded and has priiloader installed with all those region free settings turned on so I'm perplexed as to why it's not working. I know I could easily boot the disc through a bunch of different loaders but I don't know how the community feels about that. So if you could lemme know what launcher's are ok or maybe a potentially a fix that'd be awesome.

Cool thanks, Mash. Will be awhile 'cause I'll actually have to play the game when it arrives but yeah definitely interested in running route A! Yeah, I'm aware of the differences between Gestalt and Replicant. Good to know there's no region differences, phew. I'll keep an eye out to see when Dukk updates the guide.

Heyo, for some reason I'm a total hipster now - I've ordered a copy of this over Automata just because it's lesser known (and I'm a big fan of Drakengard). Gotta love that rush of being niche as possible, yo. Anywho, I saw a tiny bit of DaleDukk's Ending D run (mainly just the part where they read out fan fiction) but the game looked incredibly fun as a speed-game. Thought I'd just ask, is there an any% guide for the game, Ending A?

PS - any version differences too? 360 vs PS3? PAL vs NTSC? I assume 360's got faster loads, right?

Hey, this game kinda looks interesting. I live in Australia so I get a little ticked off when I find meh PS2 games don't have a 60hz option. I was just curious if anyone knows if the PAL version does indeed have a 60hz option, or just if it straight up runs at 60hz? If not, I'll just give the NTSC a good old import. Thanks in advance, if anyone gets back to me.

Hey, the HD collection released a little while ago on current gen and PC. I was interested in running DMC2 cos why get good at a good DMC, am I right? Anywho, was interested in learning the run and was wondering if anyone had any tutorials for learning the game? If not, was just gonna watch Scrilo's run and see what I could learn from that. Well, happy demon hunting!

Hey I'm AJ, This game, Bayo 2 & Smash 4 have given me Wii U envy ever since it's launch. Anywho, it's on switch now and thought I'd say hi and express my interest in running. I'm mostly interested in running a Funky Kong, any% category (I know you haven't sorted that out yet cos it JUST came out). I just like the crazy movement options he provides. I know he's "EASY MODE" but c'mon...it's a monkey w/ glasses and a surfboard. Down the line, I'll probably have a look at other categories. Currently I'm playing the game as much as I can and watching MooMoo's tutorial. Looks like fun yo!

Thanks matthewreality! Will shoot you a message...shame there's no discord.

Ummmm hi, not sure if anyone's going to reply but the discord link has expired. Really wanna join as I've fallen in love with Time Crisis 2 (even over 3, for some reason) and was interested in running it. I had a few questions I wanted to ask, is all. IF anyone gets back to me, thanks in advance.

Here's my 2 cents: Personally, I don't think a NG+ category'd be the greatest but I can see the attraction of it. It means we'd be able to experiment with different weapons for different fights. However, I think challenge goes out the window when we start using accessories and I think challenge is what brings most of us to running the game, in general, especially on higher difficulties. Only reason we don't use accessories in NG is because we literally can't afford anything worth our time till the end of the game. Another cool potential would be maybe doing an Non-Stop Infinite Climax run w/ Rosa having maxed out magic. I mean the category'd be hell still, but hey maybe at least manageable? The only rule I'd impose on NG+ would be NO ACCESSORIES; otherwise, we'd having a boring cheese fest of a run. Other than that, I can't see the harm of NG+ and having maxed out lollies, life, magic and all weapons; it just might shape up to be an interesting run having more tools at our disposal. I, personally, won't run NG+ but I'd be interested in a category that could make a NSIC run for Rosa accessible (without cheesing w/ accessories). Just a thought...

PS - I agree with Arismaotle too on having NG+ restricted to NSIC. It just wouldn't seem worth it other wise.

Much appreciated, Goldrazer. 4GB is just not enough. I WANT TO INSTALL THE WORLD!!!

Heya, I'm probably gonna pick this game up again casually, because it's great, (and only ever played it on an emulator) & potentially as a speedrun game. Just curious though, is there a platform that is preferable/faster than the other? I would've presumed Xbox'd be faster just due to multi-platform games usually functioning marginally better than PS2/GCN counterparts but I noticed the leaderboard was dominated by PS2. SO which version should I pick up should I want to pick up for the best version, speed-wise?

AustraliaMetaVanAJ6 years ago

Hi. I've played the n64 version of the game (via an emulator) and liked it a lot. However picking up the equipment necessary for that is pretty expensive and all. I already have a 360 and this game goes for about $50 so playing this on 360 is the most cost effective. On youtube, gameplay of this looks pretty fine and dandy with the exception of a few problems here and there...nothing game breaking.

According to the compatibility wiki for Xbox games on 360 these are the problems with this game: " - There are no loading screens.

  • Some smoke, dirt, and dust effects are colored differently.
  • The pause menu during a multiplayer game operates slower.
  • Intro movies may skip and stutter.
  • Console may freeze and/or reset by itself.
  • Sound sometimes cuts in and out.
  • When saved the game in an Area, Loading the save file can freeze the console. However, This is only an issue for certain levels.
  • The level on the boards is impassable - opponents do not appear."

Most of it sounds bearable to me; the thing I'm worried about is the "Console may freeze and/or reset by itself" thing. So does this crash often enough to affect a run?

No rush on the reply; this is all a future purchase thing. I might eventually have to bite the bullet and get an original Xbox as I wanna play other stuff like Blinx and JSRF (but ya know, with out it running horribly). Thanks in advance...

Thanks for all the advice. Will be picking up an OG Xbox, later this year, and this game as well as a copy of Conker: Live and Reloaded. Maybe Blinx The Timesweeper too. Who knew the Xbox had some nifty looking platformers...

Hey, I don't run this game at all hence why I just thought I'd ask a few questions. This and Battle For Bikini Bottom look like great platformers (in a speedrunning and casual sense) so I thought I'd try one of them out. I know that 'Battle For Bikini Bottom' runs like shit on a 360 but according to the big Wiki list of compatible games this game's only problem is: "Sometimes, trailers echo." I was just wondering if this is true and if the game is runnable on 360 at all?

Another question is I live in a PAL territory so getting an NTSC copy of anything is more than annoying. Does the game, for a fact, run at 50hz on the PAL copy? If so I'll have to figure out how to softmod an Xbox for running imports.

Thanks for reading and happy running!

Hi again, The only reason I'm interested in running this game is because of Ayane ('cause she's best girl). Anyways, just in general (when not playing as Ryu) I struggle to fight against Alchemist outside of spamming UTs. I was watching Shin's Ayane Chapter Challenge run and notice he seems to UT straight into an Izuna drop on the Alchemists on Day 2. Is there a certain button combo on how to do that? I can't seem to figure it out.

PS - thanks from before, Shin for the speedy reply; really helped out.

Hey I was just wondering how to do the really fast slide? Not sure if it's called slide cancelling. Thus far I've been able to find tutorials on shuriken cancelling and bow cancelling but nothing on the slide that makes you look like an idiot...but a fast idiot. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I really wanna get into running this game as I pretty much bought a 360 for this alone (as well as being able to play Ninja Gaiden Black) and basically fell in love with this game. At the moment, I'm thinking of just doing some RTAs for individual levels and then moving onto a few runs of the NG++ category (Acolyte) just to get a feel for it. Ultimately, I wanna move onto NG just because I feel it's a good run balancing action, essence & item management and going fast. Is this a good course of action in terms of getting myself acquainted with the game in a speedrunning sense?

Another question, and the main reason for this post, is what are the combos used with the dual katanas that drain bosses health like crazy? I've seen it used on numerous bosses like Alexei, Volf and particularly the final boss fight with the Archfiend. The combo I'm talking about can be seen on MIST's run here (on the final boss fight): http://www.speedrun.com/run/9medle8y

Heya, I'm thinking of picking up this game in a little while to speedrun and having looked at prices for the game online, NTSC-J is the cheapest so naturally I was thinking of picking up this version. I was just wondering are their any real disadvantages to having any version over the other? Turns out this is also one of those magical PAL games that supports 60hz which is dandy. No rush on a reply; just curious...
