I was wondering why VBA was allowed for this board.
Generally it's banned for Game Boy speed runs because it runs at an inconsistent frame rate. (Unlike the SGB1 which runs consistently fast, so it's time can just be adjusted.)
I noticed SGB is also not listed as a platform (presumably since it runs too fast); but it's time can be converted to the correct frame rate, VBA however cannot be converted to accurate time
I was wondering if there was some reason SGB is banned but VBA is allowed. If it's just an oversight, perhaps we could change the rules? :)
Thanks!
Very few people run on GBC or GBA because of the difficulty in recording; so feel free to combine them if you want to, I doubt we'd ever see runs on them
I can give you a full list of platforms though!
GBC, GBA, 3DSVC, GBP, SGB2, GB, New3DSVC, GBI
GBP = Game Boy Player GBI = Game Boy Interface
And it's up to you guys if you accept converted SGB1 times or not. You should probably explicitly state somewhere that SGB times must be converted if you decide to accept them too :) (Simple converter we use http://nudua.com/convert )
Thanks again for hearing me out! :D

Happy to help!
Our weekly speedrun group voted it for next week, so it's time for me to learn it too! :D
Hey Anime_Shuckle,
I'll add legal emulators to the rules today after work!
Until I get a chance, bgb and Gambatte are known good, don't use VBA. And if you run on SGB1, your times should be converted with the frame converter: http://nudua.com/convert
Hope this helps for now!

Would it be possible to add them as selectable platforms? I know that this game only had a GB release, but GBI, SGB, SGB, etc are all valid ways to play the original cartridge.
Since not all the timing is the same across platforms (Namely SGB1 running fast), and it's just nice to know what each run was done on, I think there would be value in listing the platform each run was done on. :)
Thanks,
Legs
I'm wondering about the WR run for this game.
It seems it was recorded on an SGB1, but the time hasn't been converted to account for the different frame rate (http://nudua.com/convert). This means that the run is around 2% faster than it would run on a GB, GBC, GBA, SGB2, Game Boy Player, or any other real hardware.
Do you think it could be possible to adjust the current WR time, and add the other platforms as options? This would make the game more accessible as well as also making it more accurate. :) As is, the only way to really compete in this game would require runners use the wrongly timed SGB1 as the hardware.
Thanks!

I was just wondering if there is a reason submissions for Amazing Spiderman only allow for the GB as the platform?
Is there a reason that GBC, SGB2, GBP, GBI etc, runs are not accepted? I currently use the SGB2 for recording.
Thanks.

Hello Cryptonberry!
Thanks for your response, but I couldn't find the answers to any of my questions in any of the guides listed. :)
I'd like to submit some runs, but I'd prefer to do it as listed as the proper platform. Is there a reason that GB, SGB2, GBP etc, runs are not accepted?
I do still have boxart that could be used for the leaderboard, and I'm still pretty sure that the 'rules' listed for this game are either in error, or some kind of inside joke.
Thanks!

I was just wondering if there is a reason submissions for Fortified Zone only allow for the GB as the platform?
Is there a reason that GB, SGB2, GBP etc, runs are not accepted? As I currently use the SGB2 for recording.
I also have copies of the cover for this game too, to add as the image for the leaderboard.
Also, I'm not quite sure what the 'view rules' are referring to; but it would probably be more helpful to at least list the start and stop points for the time. :)
Thanks.

Do you think we could have SGB2 and GBP added as options for platforms?
Thanks. :)
Is there a requirement to be on High or Low for speed for these categories? I notice it's not specified in the rules.
Thanks! Legs
Ohhh; I get it now. Sorry! I didn't know about the wrong warp for the last level in the TAS.
So any% - self explanatory All Levels - All level bosses must be killed, glitches allowed.(WW used to get to the final boss) any% Glitchless - Any% but with no OOB or WW.
And if anyone ever is crazy enough for it, 100%
The issue is that I believe Yume is making a route that uses OOB, but not WW. Which even now would have no category. But we can wait on the route; and if it works we could change All Levels to allow OOB but ban WW.
Sorry for all the edits. I don't know why I had such a hard time wrapping my head around this lol

I think you made any% glitchless by mitsake; we were talking about an "All Levels", and "All Levels glitchess" "Any% glitchless" would just be all levels. :)
-Any% is anything goes
-"All Levels" should have wrong warped banned (because that makes it any%), but OOB allowed.
-"All Levels Glitchless" should disallow both Wrong Warp and OOB
I think that is the best way we could set them up right now. :)

Since this game got a GB release too; could we add GB, SGB2, and GBP as selectable platforms?
With the Tiny 10 coming up a number of us will be running the GB version.
Thanks, Legs
