IL Gauntlets are a series of five quests designed to showcase IL speedrunning in an RTA-style. All five quests share a common theme to create unique challenges to showcase a runner's ability to script, plan, and adjust to the quests. You can change equipment, buddies, and settings between quests to prepare appropriately for the quest just as you would in a Single IL run. The difference here is you can't reset for RNG.

The intent of Gauntlets is to create IL showcases for Marathon showcases. At this time, we are gauging community interest in this type of speedrun category and would like to begin with a playtest! Please refer to the following draft rules for the playtest: • Complete the listed quests in succession for the Gauntlet being performed. • You can complete the quests in any order. • Gauntlets can be performed with Freestyle or TAwiki rulesets. • You must provide an uninterrupted video recording with audio of all quests being completed. This includes Hub movement between quests. • You may restock items, change armor, weapons, decorations, silkbind/switch skill moves, buddies, or any other equipment/settings BETWEEN quests. These changes are not permitted during a quest. • You are required to verify equipment and skills at the end of a quest in the same method as IL submissions. • You cannot abandon a quest or return from a quest during the Gauntlet. • You may reattempt a quest during the Gauntlet if you fail it, but the IGT of the failed quest will be included in the final time. • Final timing is recorded in IGT and should equal the final time of all quests added together. You can use this tool via Google Sheets to calculate your cumulative IGT. RTA is a secondary timing method used for marathon estimates if the Gauntlet is performed in a marathon fashion. • For RTA timing, time begins when you depart on the first quest. Time ends when the final monster is slain/captured. Include your preparations for the first hunt before time begins. • When submitting, please provide timestamps at the beginning of each quest. These can be provided in the SRC submission description or in a YouTube description as Chapters. • At this time, mods are PROHIBITED with the exception of cosmetics. The intent of Gauntlets is to be an RTA-style IL showcase which should demonstrate a hunters ability to adjust to RNG and prepare for all possibilities. However, if community interest is shown for a modded category of Gauntlets, this will be considered using the current rules for Permitted Mods. Additionally, Hub Mods (such as Auto Restock, Auto Eating, 100% Dango Skills) are allowed for IGT timing, and are banned for RTA timing. When it comes to submitting/sharing, please indicate you use these mods.

The following Gauntlets will be used for the playtest. Remember, you must use these quests in the Gauntlet.

Seeing Red: Red Monsters MR1★ Uninvited Guest - Daimyo Hermitaur MR4★ King of the Crumbling Castle - Rathalos MR4★ A Mighty Need - Pyre Rakna-Kadaki MR4★ Hot Mud in Your Eye - Magma Almudron MR5★ Emperor of Flame - Teostra

** Wet n Wild**: Water Monsters MR4★ A Mizutsune's Appeal - Mizutsune MR1★ Tetranadon Blockade - Tetranadon MR1★ You Had Me at Poofy - Royal Ludroth MR2★ Messed Up Situation - Jyuratodus MR2★ Somnacanth Sleep Aid - Somnacanth

Exotic Pets: Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Bird? MR4★ Sacrilegious Thunder Wolf - Zinogre MR3★ Purging Hatred - Magnamalo MR1★ It Could be Worse… - Aknosome MR3★ Shadow in the Jungle - Nargacuga MR1★ The Good, the Bad, and Lagombi - Lagombi

Back with a Vengeance: Returning in Sunbreak MR4★ A Slumbering Jungle Espinas - Espinas MR4★ In Search of the Doctor - Astalos MR4★ Dark Wings, Dark World - Gore Magala MR4★ A Thousand Scales of Dread - Seregios MR3★ My Ceanataur Gently Weeps - Shogun Ceanataur

Gauntlets are comprised of five specific quests sharing a common theme, such as the type of monster, the element of the monster, or some other common trend between them. Though not a hard and set rule, themes allow for a more unique challenge and experience when deciding which quests to include. Feel free to recommend your own Gauntlets as well!

Because we require the same equipment/skill verification after each hunt as IL submissions, individual quests can be submitted for new IL records/PBs as long as it follows the other category rules.

Please feel free to ask any questions/rules clarification in this thread or in the MHSR community discord under #rise. Good Luck & Happy Hunting!

Changelog: - Spelling/Grammar - Corrections to Seeing Red Quest List - Updated to mod rules: Hub Mods (i.e. Auto Restock, Auto Eating, 100% Dango Skills) are allowed for IGT but not RTA. If used, RTA time will not be recorded. - Clarified equipment changes and restocking rules. These actions cannot be performed during a quest, including during the end quest timer, to preserve IL verification methods. - Included a link to the IGT calculator Google Sheets doc.

Sunbreak IL Leaderboards are now open! Please refer to the message above for instructions and help on the new layout! Good Luck & Happy Hunting!

New Layout for Sunbreak Quests! Watch the breakdown.

These changes will be (slowly) made to the LR/HR Rise ILs as well.

Chicago, IL, USAJalBagel3 years ago

With a new Leaderboard comes a new layout! We took the time to redesign & reorganize how ILs will be displayed! Please take a moment to watch this breakdown on the new Leaderboard design!

Chicago, IL, USAJalBagel3 years ago

Hello Hunters!

It's the Dawn of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak! That means the leaderboard will be expanded to include all the new quests and RTA categories!

The submission embargo will be lifted on July 16! After July 16, the leaderboard will be finalized and you can begin submitting runs!

Why the embargo? Well, we need time to setup the leaderboard, gain access to a list of all quests, identify any new cheats/exploits to consider for ruling, and (frankly) play Sunbreak ourselves!

Additionally, I want to take a moment and apologize for the delay in the Sunbreak Demo Leaderboard. The Sunbreak Demo will still be available following the release, so we will continue to accept runs! However, timing for us couldn't have been worse and many of us were not available to facilitate the update. It is coming soon though! So please continue to run the Sunbreak Demo or save some runs to submit!

Happy hunting, and I'll see you all in Elgado! ~ Jal

The Sunbreak quests will be added soon! If you want to start recording runs now, you can use the following ruleset:

Full Video submission submissions only and must show Player List (HUD element) and Quest Time from Quest Info (Menu > Quest > Quest Info). No Screenshot Submissions on either PC or Switch.

Multiplayer submissions: All players must record and submit their PoV (Point of View) in the description of the original submission. Please only make ONE submission for multiplayer runs.

Damage values must remain active and visible. Low resolution recordings may be rejected if damage values cannot be read.

Use of MODS or HACKED games is PROHIBITED. "Item Duplication" Glitch is PROHIBITED.

Please submit with In-Game Time (IGT).

DEMO CATEGORIES Because of the mechanics and gameplay options added to the Sunbreak Demo, the quests, both returning from the Rise Demo and new quests, in the Sunbreak Demo will be tracked separately as SB Demo. • SB Demo: Great Izuchi • SB Demo: Great Izuchi - All Monsters (Great Izuchi, Arzuros) • SB Demo: Tetranadon • SB Demo: Tetranadon - All Monsters (Tetranadon, Aknosom, Great Izuchi) • SB Demo: Astalos • SB Demo: Astalos - All Monsters (Astalos, Rathian, Aknosom) • SB Demo: Malzeno • SB Demo: Malzeno - All Monsters (Malzeno, Rathian, Tetranadon)

Any questions? Message JalBagel or Lumini!

Additional Change! No Tools and No Tools No Add-ons are now on the fullgame leaderboards! No Tools allows Add-ons. No Tool No Add-ons does not. This allows Defender Weapons, Black Belt Armor, Guild Cross Armor, and the item packs available from Senri the Mail Courier to be used during No Tools speedruns.

Hello Hunters!

Some updates have arrived to the Rise Fullgame Leaderboards! • Add-ons Category is now live and is applied to the Fullgame Categories Magnamalo, Apex Arzuros, and Narwa! • "Any%" has been renamed "Any% No Add-ons" • "Any% w/ Add-ons" has been renamed "Any%"

Submissions for Rise Any% are now open! Remember: • "Any%" includes Add-ons • "Any% No Add-ons" does not The category name changes are enacted to follow naming trends on other fullgame leaderboards (i.e. naming conventions like "Any%" and "Any% No Major Glitches").

For Monster Hunter Rise, Add-ons are defined as "any item redeemed from Senri the Mail Courier." This includes Defender Weapons, Black Belt Armor, Guild Cross Armor, all redeemable item packs, and redeemable pets. Additionally, the use of Defender Weapons, even if you obtained them through crafting, is PROHIBITED in Any% No Add-ons.

Any questions? Leave a post!

Haven't had a chance to update here, but from my own experience and a few others running, the Add-ons category seems to be popular enough and unique enough to make its own category.

Here are the runs I've published: First Magna% Attempt Magna% Add-ons PB

Feel free to share your own runs and experiences/thoughts, but the draft rules seem to be the ones that will be used. Additionally, No Tools will still work with Add-ons: same rules but you have access to Senri's redeemable items. We'll be trying to finalize rules this week.

Hello Hunters!

Version 3.9 will be arriving soon! Included in the update is Defender Weapons and the Black Belt Armor! Previously, we have banned the use of Redeemable Items from Senri. This has included Special Item Packs, Guild Cross Armor, and other cosmetic items. With Ver. 3.9, Defender Weapons and the Black Belt Armor will be redeemable too!

Defender Weapons/Gear are not a new concept for us, so we'll handle it the same way in Rise as we did in World. When Ver. 3.9 releases, please help us in testing the Draft Add-ons Category! Please use the following ruleset for preliminary testing:

• Switch & PC platforms accepted for testing. • Singleplayer & Multiplayer categories accepted for testing. • Any% and No Tools categories accepted for testing. • Magnamalo%, Apex Arzuros%, and Narwa% accepted for testing. • Timing starts on confirming START NEW FILE or OVERWRITE CHARACTER (preferred). Timing ends when the camera changes on the last hit or capture in the target quest. • All Add-ons Content (items/item-packs, armor, weapons) received from "Senri the Mail Courier" are ALLOWED. You may use the "Accept All" feature when redeeming content. • Equipping Layered Armor is Prohibited. • "Item Duplication" Glitch is Prohibited (though I'm certain this has been addressed by now). • Damage Values must remain visible during the run.

Please post your runs here and in the Community Discord. This experiment is intended to help develop the new Fullgame category! Depending on the final ruleset, runs used for testing may or may not be eligible for submission.

Thank you for your participation! All feedback is welcome! Remember to record and post your testing! And, as always, Happy Hunting! ~ Jal

PC platform is on the Rise submission form now! If you go to the leaderboard you can submit a run.

Chicago, IL, USAJalBagel3 years ago

The following change has been made to the Hub RTA categories (i.e. Apex Arzuros and Thunder Serpent Narwa categories:

The use of Village Special License quests is allowed in 1 Player Submissions. The use of Village Special License quests is PROHIBITED in Multiplayer Submissions due to the nature of the category.

Since Multiplayer submissions require players to complete quests together, the use of Village Special Licenses to progress in Hub quests isn't possible.

If you have any other questions or recommendations to the rules please feel free to discuss! - JalBagel

Now that we've had a few runs submitted for Oltura% we can start moving forward with more categories! I'm happy to introduce Hatch% and Flight%!

Hatch% ends when Ratha hatches in Rutoh Village. Time ends when the loading icon appears before the cutscene that plays when you return to Rutoh Village (the cutscene when Ratha hatches).

Flight% ends when Ratha gains the ability to fly in Lamure. Time ends when the loading icon appears before the cutscene following the Black Diablos fight (the cutscene when Ratha flies).

Additionally, the ending criteria for Oltura% has been adjusted (slightly) to match these categories. For Oltura%, time ends when the loading icon appears before the cutscene following defeating Oltura's last phase (the last cutscene ).

As always, all submissions will be retimed to meet this criteria. Additionally, you may submit the same speedrun to multiple categories, meaning an Oltura% run can submit to Hatch% and Flight%, and a Flight% can submit to Hatch%. At this time, Demo% can only be performed on the Trial Version of the game. As such, Oltura%, Flight%, and Hatch% runs cannot be submitted to Demo%.

When I can, I'll follow up soon with a demonstration of the timing criteria. Thank you all, and I look forward to seeing new submissions! - JalBagel

For Real Time Attack (RTA) speedrunning it is generally not allowed to pause the timer even if you aren't actively playing the game. This means duing pauses or breaks the timer is till running (hence the name "Real" time). Some game categories allow this for exceptionally long speedruns (i.e. BotW 100%).

For MHST2 Oltura% pausing the timer at any time during a submission is not allowed. However, this does not invalidate the submission. We can retime the submission based on the recording playback time, though this may result in an inaccurate (increased) time.

I've discussed this in the Discord and tested it myself: the in-game time begins when you select "New Game" from the main menu. This includes DLC redemption menus and charactee creation in timing. Unfortunately the in-game timer has already been ruled out as a timing method.

I also want to point out, I compared this recording to my recording. My loads are eveb faster than these. The only tool to "level the playing field" would be a load remover for PC platform. However, before such a tool is created, we will need to gauge the interest in the speedrun.

Lets get some runs on the leaderboard and see how comparable the platforms are before we start reinventing it.

We plan on adding more! Its looking like Hatching and Flight will be those points, but that'll be finalized after theres a full run. But its leaning towards those. There's also Demo%, which ends at Anja but must use the Trial Version.

Welcome Stories runners, old and new! Before posting any submissions, please take a moment to check the game and category rules posted on the leaderboard. Any questions can be posted in this thread or the community discord (link in sidebar)! Of course, you can always message a game moderator too!

Good luck out there Riders!

Unfortunately not. We require a recording of all player perspectives for consistency and verification.

Please note: A submission using CSM is required to use the ASL with the Load Remover and Cutscene Pauser active. Submissions without the ASL or CSM active will receive a reduction of 1:03:36.600 from the Real Time for the In-Game Time submission. Loads will not be removed from submissions not using the ASL.

CUTSCENE SKIP MOD IS HERE! We can skip cutscenes during RTA runs now via Cutscene Skip Mod (CSM)! Additionally, we've included an Autosplitter (ASL) to Remove Load Times and Pause during Cutscenes!!! This can be enabled in Livesplit by setting your game to "Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (PC)" and activating the autosplit feature. We're working on a tutorial to show off the effect of CSM and the ASL on the run! The ASL has options to start the timer on character creation and end on Xeno death too! Head over to the game resources in MHW IB PC to download and start now. Please note: we are accepting submissions, but the runs will not be verified until the top 3 overall runs are retimed to remove loading. At this time, the IGT listed for existing runs only includes the removal of Cutscene time (1:03:36.600). We will discuss this more in the tutorial video. Thank you again and Happy Hunting!
