Oengus (pron. Angus) is a website designed to help with the process of organizing a marathon.

Currently, we need multiple tools (GForms, Horaro...) or custom private solutions to handle the whole process of taking submissions, selecting runs and making the schedule. The idea behind Oengus is to regroup everything in a single place to ease the process, as well as having a single place to check for runners to find new marathons to submit to.

The site is currently in pre-alpha but I decided to open it to public since it's, in my opinion, exploitable. You can currently create new marathons and post submissions to then once the submissions are set to open. Alpha release will feature the whole process (submissions, selection, schedule) and from there I will add more features to make it richer and more flexible.

You can access Oengus here : https://oengus.io, and join the Discord server here : https://discord.gg/ZZFS8YT. There's also a Twitter account : https://twitter.com/OengusIO

There is a demo marathon in which you can submit to show you the submission possibilities.

I cannot give an ETA for anything since I work on this on my free time, but I have big hopes for this. Hope you'll like it.

Regards, Gyoo.

Good morning/afternoon/evening/night,

I'm just writing a small thread to inform all of you that I'm leaving the site's staff after more than 3 years (maybe even more, I don't even remember) of being a Global Mod.

For the last few months, it has become a burden to handle all of this, and I also want to move on and focus on other personal projects, some of them still related to speedrunning. For instance, now I will be able to focus more on promoting the hobby in the french community, with my association LeFrenchRestream. We're most known for taking care of GDQ restreams in french (it's in the name) but we're starting to organize events on our own as well.

I'd like to thank Pac and Kirkq for their trust in me, despite all the things I fucked up (lol). I've had good times, it's been a pleasure to handle what I could over those years, but now it's time to turn the page. I will still be around the site, probably more discreetly than before, but I still hope speedrun.com will last long.

Best regards, Gyoo.

Due to recent events and after being contacted by some runners, the following changes have been made to the moderation of Fallout 1 and 2 :

  • PLANET and FallenRanger are removed (Not sure if PLANET was mod on F2 but at least he was on F1)
  • Tomatoanus has been added, after talking with fexen

I will not go into further details for the sake of privacy.

In my opinion the "Individual chapters" category should be done as Level Leaderboards instead. I'll let you set that up.

Greetings, Due to the current inactivity of Kykinson, I added myself as a moderator for the game to make necessary changes to the board (at last). I will especially add new categories for the Current version of the game, and I'll let the v0.6.2 categories for those who still want to run this version. If you want to discuss anything leaderboard wise, please let me know. Gyoo.

ADMIN UPDATE 4/14/2021: With the release of the Support Hub, all marathon requests should now be submitted here - https://www.speedrun.com/knowledgebase/supporthub/request-marathon

PREVIOUS MESSAGE: Considering the increase in number of marathons happening, we decided to center all marathon requests in a single thread rather than having everyone creating their own thread to ask for a marathon page. Also, this is a good opportunity to add some rules to the marathons requests :

• Your account must be more than three weeks old. • You must have at least one run on your account, in a game that requires verification, and not self-verified • You must provide as much information about the marathon as possible : onsite or online, purpose of the marathon, eventual supported charity, estimation of dates and duration, stream channel, list of mods... (these are examples). • Marathons are to be requested at least two weeks prior, this is to allow enough time for us to add marathons and allow marathon hosters more time to setup. • A marathon is required to be at least a full day in length, we will look into a marathons schedule near their starting period to verify if this is being met. The objective with this are to slow marathons down that cannot maintain a schedule, we also wish to note that playing extremely long games to fulfill the requirement is likely to be rejected. • If the marathon is a self-hosting one (as in, you are doing all of the runs) this will be rejected. • It is strongly preferred to have a charitable cause (as briefly mentioned above) there may be exceptions to this.

(Updated by Dangerless - 6/9/2019)

From now on, marathon requests must go through this thread. Gyoo.

Greetings,

Yesterday I have been reported by runner Psarthex that there might be some actual issues going on with the current moderation team.

I will try to sum up the huge wall of text he sent me because it would be much too long to translate everything. Long story short, the current moderators wouldn't listen to the community's suggestions about categories, as well as other rules, such as the music thing in runs, audio cuts that sometimes happen because of Twitch, and so on. Now, I don't know anything about the Resident Evil series, so I'd be glad if I could be explained such strict criterias for accepting or rejecting runs since, to me, it doesn't really affect the game like cheats would do. Also, he mentions the neverending rejection of his own runs for dubious reasons. However, I will not talk further about this because he takes responsibility for his behaviour so maybe we can bring this back later.

From what I've heard, my opinion so far is that everybody has a part of guilt : Psarthex didn't really react in a decent manner, but as for the moderators (As far as I could see, especially Carcinogen and SuccintAndPunchy), they don't seem to be especially encline to listen to the community's opinion (not only talking for Psarthex here). The deletion of threads alerting about the situation with a moderator are, to me, censorship, therefore not something we wish to see here. The condescending tone that SuccintAndPunchy takes everytime he posts something isn't either a good representation of a moderator. Not mentioning, having only at most 2 active moderators out of 8 doesn't help.

Please keep the discussions in this thread calm and courteous. As I said, I've had Psarthex' version of what happens, and I'm solely here to gather more facts from all sides, also from people who are external to the actual story. I am willing to find a solution that would please the most. This can inlude (not exhaustive) : Changing moderators, finding consensus on the rules and categories, maybe other things I can't think about right now.

Greetings,

I've been alerted about the situation of the GTAV leaderboards, and I could see that the current moderators were either inactive, not willing to continue moderation, or not willing to keep the leaderboard accurate. Therefore, the previous mods have been replaced by Ryedawg and ToriksLV who showed me their motivation to fix the boards and moderate them in a better way.

Hi, Last year I created @SpeedrunWRs, a Twitter bot that announces when a World Record is beaten, based on the speedrun.com database. I just created a Mastodon account so the bot now posts the same content on Twitter and this new growing platform. You can find it on the mastodon.xyz instance or find it with this alias : @WRBot@mastodon.xyz

ADMIN UPDATE 4/14/2021: With the release of the Support Hub, all bot reports should now be submitted here - https://www.speedrun.com/knowledgebase/supporthub/report-user

PREVIOUS MESSAGE: Hi,

For some time already, we are regularly "attacked" by chinese spambots that post lots of crap in different sections of the forums. We usually clean them as fast as we can, but as we can't have eyes everywhere, we might miss some.

Please use this thread if you see any spambot that we did not ban/delete, by linking directly their profile. We will delete all the spam threads and ban the account.

By the way, some measures will be taken soon to hopefully prevent spambots from posting before they act.

Thanks, Gyoo.

Sup,

I just thought about that, I don't think having different any% categories for versions make sense. The route is now exactly the same, and we came to a point where the only difference is the Door glitch on 1.07, which doesn't even cover the extra loading times you get on this version (1.11 is more optimized).

I suggest we can remove Old Version from the leaderboards or at least hide it in misc categories. "Any% clockless (New version)" would be renamed "Any% clockless"
