Not getting all of the badges isn't exactly "All Badges." It'd be an extremely arbitrary category that I'm really not sure we need. You're welcome to run it on your own though
Also we allow time traveling in any category, but regardless
Thanks for adding the additional customization back.
One issue I noticed though is that series page themes don't have the new options (Background, etc.). Additionally, it seems like game themes are now separate from series themes, and newer games in a series won't retroactively update to have the series theme elements. Is this intentional?
Personally, I think the biggest problems are...
-
Series pages take forever to load now, even for ones with only a few games. The entire page basically just "freezes" when that happens as well.
-
Using green as the default theme color. I see that changing your profile color changes it for the entire site, but I still think the default green is just a weird choice. And if anything, using the "Same as panel color" option by default would look so much better.
-
Banners are weird. Being forced at a height of 144 pixels is really awkward, especially if you want a smaller one. Plus the forced gradient really clashes with a lot of designs. Also half of the time when you load a page, it's already scrolled down past the banner (I guess as a result of it not loading fast enough?), so you might not even see it unless you scroll back up.
-
Backgrounds. I know there's the whole situation with some games having really ugly or inappropriate backgrounds, but I don't see that as cause to remove them for every game. Ultimately, with there only being so much you can do with banners, I really think custom backgrounds need to return to give each game more of an identity. I don't think we need like, a separate foreground layer, scrolling, etc., but just being able to add any kind of background again would be a big improvement.
anyone interested in running
I think a few people have used it? I forget if we ever came to a consensus on whether or not there were faster memory card saving/loading times though.
There are various devices available that can transfer save data off of a game card. I'm sure there are homebrew apps capable as well, but other than that, there's no official way to do it
It seems like you guys have the Puzzle League series page not showing unofficial games by default (Which minigames get treated as), so AC:PL won't appear there unless people manually change the filters on the sidebar, which not many people know about.
Alright, I've made it a separate game ( https://www.speedrun.com/acpl ), and requested it to be marked as a Minigame/Game Mode. I don't know if multiple series for one game are still a thing, but I've asked them to change that as well if possible.
Also @CardsOfTheHeart, feel free to add whatever moderators/categories/whatever you want of course. I've linked the Puzzle League Discord in the game settings as well.
Could we get Animal Crossing: Puzzle League ( https://www.speedrun.com/acpl ) marked as a Minigame/Gamemode for Animal Crossing: New Leaf ( https://www.speedrun.com/acnl )? And could it be added to the Puzzle League series ( https://www.speedrun.com/puzzle_league ) as well, in addition to keeping it in the AC series (But using AC as the main series so it keeps the theme)?
Also, could we have the Mobile tag removed from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp ( https://www.speedrun.com/acpc )? I didn't realize that it counts the game as unofficial when it has that.
It's not a level
Since it's more of a game inside of a game type of thing, it was just more appropriate for us to include it in the level leaderboards. Regarding the other modes, it seems like all of them are just endless modes with different variations (Really haven't played AC:PL that much, so I might be wrong). Not sure how that'd really work for a speedrun, unless it's like "Get to line 50" or whatever.
it's not a part of AC:NL proper
It is though. You have to launch it through New Leaf using an item found in-game. The 3DS splash screen thing is just a gag, because the item is a New 3DS. The Wii U item for Desert Island Escape does the same thing with a Wii U splash screen, but it's obviously not running a Wii U game.
Technically the game is part of the Puzzle League series.
Maybe if it actually was a separate game, but it's not. I think speedrun.com has support for games being a part of multiple series (It used to at least, not sure if it was removed or not), so if it was really that big of a deal, we could make it a separate game and have it in both series, with mods from both. But seeing as only a single person has done a single run of it, I really don't think there's that much of a need for it.
Maybe @CardsOfTheHeart can chime in here as well.
I personally wouldn't mind if highscores were just added to speedrun.com. Maybe have two "modes" for the site though for people who do care. Users could set in their preferences whether they want to only see highscores, speedruns, or both. And then maybe have a highscores.com domain that redirects to the site with the highscores mode enabled. Games could have separate highscore moderators, default to highscore listings, etc.
Or maybe have more of a hard separation, and have a separate site that requires all games to be set up/moderators added from scratch, which would probably be better in the long run, and lead to better verification of highscores, but still have a unified account system with speedrun.com and link everything together so the highscores and speedrun community are more intertwined.
I really don't think option 2 is a good idea though. Ideally, if it were a separate site, it'd have the same layout/themeing that speedrun.com has to keep everything nice and unified.
You can sleep, eat, go take a shit, whatever, but you have to leave the timer running for the entire duration of the run, no matter what you yourself are doing. It says it in the rules, which you should read very carefully if you plan on running 100%.
