I suppose the only way would be to have custom firmware on your console, if you can't play emu.
Glad I'm not the only one that remembers. Being a member of this website for 6+ years made me see a lot of changes. Some good, some bad, as all things go. The removal of those leaderboards was one of the bad changes, but maybe, with enough interest, they can have a return.
Anyway, I hope this feature can make it back to the website in some way, shape or form. It was an interesting statistic to keep track of imo.
I remember back in the day, before the design overhaul of the website, if you went to the "users" page, you could see the number of games and categories a user ran, thanks to a dedicated "leaderboard" which kept track of users with most games and most categories ran. I don't know if this feature is still there, I am unable to find it at the moment so I assume it was just removed.
Are there plans to bring back that, maybe in each user's page? Currently it's full of other useful statistics in the "about (user)" section, and I think it could be improved with this little addition.
Tiny. Watch an Any% run to get an idea. Not Any% No Item Glitch, just Any%.
Before speedrun.com was a thing, times were posted on a text document. I don't know the specifics, but I think video proof was not a thing back in the day. Or if it was, the video was deleted from Twitch/Youtube/wherever it was, and only the time was exported to srcom without the video because there used to be video proof, but it's been deleted and it can't be found anymore.
Suggestions (since I assume there are many newcomers that don't exactly know those tools to crop videos): -If the video is on Youtube, use the Enhancements tab. From there, select the "Trim" icon, it allows you to cut part of your video easily and quickly without the need to reupload. It also gives you the option to either "Save as new video" with a completely different link or just save the video with the same link, only removing the unnecessary part.
This is how the page looks. You can see "Trim" at the bottom. From there, the website will allow you to split the video and then remove the part you need to delete from the video by pressing the "X" that appears when you hover in the timeline in one of the two parts of the video (don't click on the trash bin icon close to "split", that will restore your full video if you do). Click on "Done" once you've completed your cropping, then click either "Save as new video" or "Save".
-If you streamed your run on Twitch, just create an highlight.

Click on "Other" in the video you want to crop, then from there click the "Highlight" option. (It's usually the second one, below "Download"). Now select starting point and ending point through timestamps and then click on Create. And there you go, you have a new video that doesn't include the useless failed attempts.
If you still need to upload your file, you can crop it before the upload through a free software called Avidemux. Really easy to use, and it renders the new files in a matter of seconds (if you crop your videos in keyframes, more information searching on Google I guess.)
So...what is technically considered "last race"? The one that triggers the "You are the US champion" I suppose?
Well...PSVita is hard to record from. However, you can record from PSTV, the question is: does PSTV has differences in loading compared to Vita?
Yes that happens. If you throw something like a nitro or a TNT in the exact spot where there's a wumpa, it will immediately explode. I used to do this mistake a lot in Slide Coliseum as a child playing casually. That's why you use as less items as possible during a speedrun imo.
Disabling sfx makes you skip all cutscenes instantly in every category. Also, you can start the timer whenever you want, but mods will anyway add the time you spent inside Bye Bye Blimps when approving your run in the leaderboard, because the rules state that the timer starts as soon as you gain control of Coco in that level.
You can choose either keeping them enabled or not. Disabling them of course makes you save time, but it's not a must. The only difference is that the timer starts whenever you gain control of Coco's plane (fade-in of the level, as soon as it fades in you gain control). Everything else follows the normal NIG rules. You can either disable sfx by pausing, then go to the warp room after disabling them, or disable them as you would do in a NIG run after entering a level in warp 1. Your choice.
To put it simply, the item glitch is when you build a "bounces combo" that reaches 199 or more bounces on enemies (or on a bouncy box, the one with an arrow, which is used to raise the bounces counter faster). Starting from that point, you start getting crystals if you keep bouncing on enemies, thus allowing you to skip all levels and head straight to defeating bosses, which makes you save an insane amount of time over a "normal" run in which you collect crystals the way it was intended to be by the developer. Watch an any% run to get an idea of what I'm talking about. As you've probably seen, with this glitch you can basically complete adventure mode in over 20 minutes less than a No Item Glitch run.
Allow death warps and use IGT. I substantially quote what Subjekt said.
I've seen that the original 2002 game has that kind of leaderboard, so wouldn't it be great if there was a similar level leaderboard for both races for this game aswell?
