Hello friends, I was messing around with the game just earlier and it appears I might have found a debug code.

If you hit select+start+A+B in an overworld area, the top half of the screen will be filled with E and the bottom half will be filled with M, obviously this in itself is excellent.

The code actually does something else, and that's that it resets screens to their default configuration. Let's say you kill an enemy, hit the combo and bam they're back. It does not restore chest items like the arrow chests littered across the map.

The only "useful" thing this would be good for would be shops as you can purchase an item and have it immediately respawn for another purchase, most shop items are pretty useless too, the only item I can think of being worth it would be if we integrate potions into the route, then we could buy a bunch of them. Maybe this is a useful beginner technique?

Unfortunately this does not work in dungeons, where it would have an actual use on resetting boss positions (it's faster than pausing from what I can tell).

So what do you guys think?

A few frame drops at the start, sorry about that.

To get the glitch, play as either Diddy or Donkey, hold left on the side of the screen until you fall to the bottom and then (you might need to wiggle left right a little) hold down+right then jump and you will clip under the level. A lot of black spots will clip you in-bounds and stuck. The way I stay under the long stretches is that I jump to the highest I can before, then at halfway I hold down+right and jump to give myself the smallest positive velocity.

Some rough timings have had this on par with my gold for the split; no TAS timing yet, though because TAS uses some tricks to gain speed by clipping, it may be technically slower (but on par in practice) this appears to be much easier than the current method of using Donkey and clipping into (not through) the ceiling to avoid the fish patterns.

Hey guys, so I decided to properly TAS the three main methods of getting the airwalk. I demonstrate that the method in the current TAS is slower than the two variants I introduced. I have tried my best to optimize the play as much as I can to give a fair comparison. For the first pot (top left), some strats were not RTA viable, so I made a second version with RTA viable strats which is still faster than the other methods.

I know the game has no runners, but I think having a separate category or a variable related to autofire might be good; right now there's nothing in the ruleset about it and personally I think it should be banned from main category runs as it's an outrageous advantage.

Hi mods, just looking at BattleTanx, when I cam across that one runner has the GBC version in with all the other versions, seeing as they are completely different games, I would think that this should be broken apart. Let me know what you think. Cheers, Jesse.

Surely NTSCJ 60Hz would be a significant jump from PAL 50Hz.

For those of you who think these are for only clones, I can tell you right now that they play on standard Famicoms with no modification.

Hey friends,

I was trying to route this out using the TAS' method of Machine Gun/Flame but I could never really get the knack and I found that most of the time using the Laser was the most efficient method. Do we know any of the actual damage values? Is it worth a human player to try the machine gun strat?

Hey,

I was wondering if there was a setup for the clip in The Desert and if you could go through what you have to do to get it.

Hey guys,

just wanted to chime in and say this game has two different versions with different mappers, and apparently the newer version has content removed.

Rayquaza911's run is with the updated mapper and palette , called "Super Aladdin" and the image on the game's display is of the first version, simply "Aladdin". I doubt there's any real difference in the run, as in my casual playthrough it seemed pretty similar to Ray's run, but the wiki states

"At least two versions of this game exist, with the first - Aladdin - being most faithfully accurate to the original game, and the other - Super Aladdin - being released on a more simple mapper with an updated palette, parts of the game removed and several pictures taken from Mega Drive version of Prince of Persia." http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/Aladdin_(Super_Game)

So I wasn't sure if you wanted to add a variable to the boards. I know right now it's just Rayquaza911, but I'm thinking of future-proofing here.

Trying to learn the run, but not sure how to stop the screen rolling back.

Maybe I'm just cheese brained but I thought I remember there being some kind of RC car clip to speed up the RC stage or am I misremembering and it's SNES or something?

Provocative title, I know.

Essentially, as a bit of a laugh, I thought it'd be great to do a any% washing machine run, but I require some help.

To unlock the washing machine requires BK to get to Treasure Trove Cove, unlock the sandcastle and take its requisite jiggy. Once this is done, completing Bottles' jigsaw mini-games will unlock the washing machine code wishywashybanjo which can then be entered at TTC.

Other than that, there appear to be no dependencies.

Ideally, what I'd like to do is get the absolute minimum amount of items as Bear and Bird. The thing limiting me right now is the note door after Mumbo's Mountain, as you can clip into TTC.

Hello friends,

long time lover of Silent Hill runs, and had thought about doing a run but the leaderboards have me quite confused.

So, emulators are hidden, that in itself is not that big a deal; but it is the hiding of only certain emulators that has me confused.

Why is it that both PSTV and PS3 are not hidden? Excluding the original model PS3 released in NTSC-U/JP all editions of PS3 use software emulation. Similarly, PSTV, PSP, PS3 that use the PSN version are all emulators. Whether or not they are "official releases" they are emulators. Edit: Forgot Vita

If it is that emulators are hidden because they are unfair, then these should be transferred to a different category, including the consoles I have listed.

Anyway, it appears that most of this is moot, as the in-game timer is supposedly very good. This would mean that the emulators, if they are faster versions, then the runners would be at a penalty, not a gain as they would have less time to respond to things.

Lastly, if emulators are to be permitted, a solid clarification of what settings are valid should be made. If it is that they are jank, detail the jank settings and forbid them. (Edit: I should note that there is some clarification for ePSXe, but not for others)

Thanks, crazyjesse

Hello friends,

so I was wondering some things about the iQue with regards to the latest route. It is my understanding that in the current 100% route uses Wii VC as it does not crash when adult Link draws a deku stick and instead replaces it with a giant's knife. It was this coupled with some other VC only aspects that made it faster overall.

I was wondering, as the games are essentially both v1.2 roms, albeit with different text, whether the iQue player would be capable of doing this route also.

Furthermore, is the current any% route Wii VC? If so, would its route be compatible with iQue?

Thanks in advance, Jesse

Hello friends,

I was wondering if it would make sense to be more detailed in our definition of "any% no credits warp".

I've been thinking about running this and something which isn't featured in the run is the elevator glitch used in the any% credits warp. Clearly the use of the glitch to beat the game is banned but the glitch used in the elevator works on all elevator screen transitions, not just the one after the first warp hole/hall.

I have not tested them all out but for instance the elevator that takes you to the first warp hall room, if the glitch is done on that transition, it takes you to the area just before the star crystal, so clearly it is not a glitch that always beats the game.

I was thinking about looking at a bunch of these and maybe routing them in. As I don't want to be disingenuous, I thought it might make sense to clarify the category that Dragondarch has submitted his run into. If however, there are no complaints then I'll just submit my possible future run in there. In the end, it may turn out that the glitch isn't that useful.

Hello, I have a few of the Taiwanese editions of Super Mario 64, (before anyone chimes in, it is an official version of the game) and I was wondering what people's thoughts on them were.

There are two Taiwanese versions I know of, the first is in Japanese and the second is in English. I could only find images of the first variant http://i.imgur.com/pbZbj.jpg but I have the second one at home and will take a picture if requested.

As these are released for the Taiwanese market, they both use the Japanese shell variant, which is pretty interesting, an English game in JP shell for a Taiwanese market.

Similarly, there is a Korean version: http://www.koreanversion.com/hyundai/comboy64/super-mario-64 but I don't know much about that version.

Just wondering what everyone's perspectives were on this game, as far as I can remember, they are simply label variants for the JP v1.0 version. If I do runs with this version, would I submit them under JP, ROC, USA, or otherwise?

I was wondering if the Wii game was distinct enough to warrant its own category. I suppose that Android would also warrant its own in such a case.

Hello friends, I went to update my description with a link to a higher quality video but because the only way I could do it was by editing my run, it got deverified and now I need to wait for someone to verify it again. Clearly a description shouldn't change whether or not a run is verified at least in my opinion.
