Hello Trineas!

I saw that a new run of Aeshmah was validated on the Any% Kisuke board.

However, my timer stops after the final platforming section (after the last boss) and Aeshmah stops it before. (When the last boss dies)

So : when does this run end? Thank you for your answer!

Yours,

Hello everyone. As you probably know, Furi's Speedrun mode has a hit counter.

In doing so, completing the game without getting hit is a difficult challenge, which has already been completed by several runners.

But how fast?

Since ShatteredIce's World First no hit run 4 years ago, (https://www.speedrun.com/furi/run/7z0q0jom) Furi's speedrunners have become very, very talented. The proof of this is the number of runners who recently passed the 30-minute mark.

I therefore propose the creation of a new category: Speedrun Mode (No Hit).

The only additional restriction on the validation of a run done in Speedrun mode in this leaderboard will be, as you can imagine, to finish your run with 0 hits.

I think this new challenge could appeal to many speedrunners in our community. In addition, the creation of this new leaderboard will generate excitement and a different way to face certain bosses.

If this category comes to be created, we already have at least two runs that can integrate it. ShatteredIce's World First and my own run, below. I will try to reduce this time under 34 minutes.

Thanks for reading me. Good luck to all the runners.

Having to play in English to appear on the main leaderboard is a rule that has existed since Red's first Any% Glitchless record in 2008. This allows a total speed equality in all dialogues, in all games of all generations, from the first to the 8th.

Moreover, absolutely all guides, all documentation, as well as all discussions about Pokémon speedruns on its discord are done in English. Due to the constant use of proper nouns in these (pokémons, attacks, towns) using a different language to make a speedrun is, without a doubt, counterproductive.

Here's why only English has always been allowed in leaderboards. The only exception being the Japanese, since Red's any% Glitchless rules split, because of the Pokédoll Skip.

So, I advise you to get an English version of the game in order to speedrun it. Thus, you will be able to keep all the pokémons of your German cartridge! (:

Unfortunately, this is impossible, for a simple reason inherent in the game.

Indeed, to obtain certain ends in this game (to use the example of your category 100%), it is necessary to play with several characters.

Thus, if a new category is created such as 100%, we will not be able to make it a subcategory.

Keeping this organization is therefore much more logical. (and just as readable I think)

However, I am not a moderator. You can try to suggest this change to @Trineas. If he finds it relevant and useful, he will do it himself I think. ^^

I'm sorry but can you be more clear? Why do you think that leaderboard sucks and looks bad?

Île-de-France, FranceÆtienne4 years ago

@KilleDragon , Having to play in English to appear on the main leaderboard is a rule that has existed since Red's first Any% Glitchless record in 2008. Instead of being unfair, this allows a total speed equality in all dialogues, in all games of all generations, from the first to the 8th.

In addition, absolutely all guides, all documentation, as well as all discussions about Pokémon speedruns on its discord are done in English. Due to the constant use of proper nouns in these (pokémons, attacks, towns) using a different language to make a speedrun is, without a doubt, counterproductive.

Finally, unlike other generations where you had to buy a cartridge per language, Pokémon Sword & Shield allows you to select English from the introduction screen.

I hope I have answered the question raised by the title of your topic. But please don't pretend it's unfair. Because it's wrong.

Personally, Dynamax are perfect breaks for drinking, eating or stretching. ^^ There is also a 1m cutscene then a 1m20 cutscene just after the 4 hours of play. I often use them for walking a bit.

Hello ! I believe that all active runners use a full 31 IVs Tepig (that's my case). I don't know about the pokerus, I have never heard of it in Gen5 speedrunning.

GL on your runs !

Hello DemataPyro !

As it says in the rules : "Runs must be done on English version."

I'm afraid your runs will be refused if you do them in French. (╥﹏╥)

Goal achieved! A good sub 1h26. I sent my new NMG run. ^^

I'll be back to Omensight as soon as I'm done with Pokémon black and Ghost 1.0.

I will definitely do glitch hunting before retrying runs on this new patch. If there is a way to resurrect the Any%, we must find it! ^^.

Thank you for creating the Skipless! I am working on producing a run for this new category.

I tried to find a way to contact BigFoot, the other runner of the NMG category, without success. By using the Save & Quit, I think to succeed a sub 1:30 with luck.

I will submit a second run once this goal is reached.

Understood!

So, here's my point of view: I think the Save & Quit and the sound disabling are not glitches. These are features provided by the game so I think they are quite legitimate in a category "No Majors Glitches"

However, this skill giving 20% chance for an alarm to be disabled immediately makes the run very random. So I think a category "Skipless" is legitimate, with the following rulset:

  • No Major Glitches
  • Do the tutorial
  • Prohibition of taking the skill "Alarm off"
  • Prohibition of skipping Jacker's rescue

Thus, all the gameplay is put forward, the very interesting rescue phase is mandatory and most importantly, the random disabling immediate alarm no longer occurs.

That looks good, right? ^^

Hello ! I just started running on ghost and I have some questions about the No Major Glitches category:

  • Is it allowed to save and quit? (This gives you an extra chance to disable an alarm instantly with the skill tree)
  • Is it allowed to cut the sound to save time on dialogues?

Not knowing what was allowed or not, I submitted a first run with the sound and without Save & Quit.

I will probably improve it, so if you could tell me what is allowed or not, it would be great!

Thank you in advance !
