Cool. Let's update the rules for Saturn categories if possible, to avoid confusion in the future - main point of confusion is that full game run has no requirement around mode, while even runs have. Looks like topic is related to the parallel thread in the forum regarding time attack mode. Wondering if all tracks category should also be required to run in arcade mode?
On Saturn in "Saturn mode" various cars can be selected - with different top speeds and handling ( some can drive over grass, some don't slow down when touching walls etc). These differences have wider impact than AT vs Manual selection, that is why my thought was to not differentiate AT vs manual. Maybe instead, for Saturn "any" mode can be introduced - where any car , mirror, reverse, time attack etc is allowed..
Thinking about following categories for full game run on saturn:
-
Arcade mode Automatic - to be on par with Arcade automatic version
-
Arcade mode Manual - to be on par with Arcade manual version
-
Any - Saturn specific category where any car and any track can be selected
Plus additional dimensions: normal, Grand Prix, endurance.
Same can be repeated for level runs.
This approach will give Saturn "competitive" category that is comparable to Arcades, and also will allow mode to squeeze maximum from what platform allows in Saturn mode.
wdyt?
Good run. I was thinking that perhaps we should reduce number of categories, at least for Saturn - considering how little runs we have. I believe time attack has own drawbacks - lack of slipstreaming opportunities, and maybe we shouldn't make a difference and consolidate everything together - arcade mode, Saturn mode, time attack and mirror. Same with manual vs automatic categories for level runs - I think these categories are redundant.
