Why do speedrunners have a different weapon wheel? FE: Clair de lune #2 (i didnt check #1) Has a weapon wheel way different than mine and i like the look of it more than the current boring one, i dont see a option to change it in the settings, i might just be blind

The weapon wheel seen in 1-4 wr was from an older version of the game when it would slow down the timer as well as the gameplay. If you want to use that weapon wheel now then your only option is to down patch.

Why is that allowed then, console players aren't able to downpatch (i think, also im not one of those) So this is just straight up unfair and shouldn't be counted? Idk but it should be a different cattegory of a run if its downpatching

Ultrakill is not available on any consoles other than I guess a steam deck, which I'm not sure if they could down patch but I wouldn't be surprised. In terms of differing category for patch locked runs that has been discussed to death and generally the answer is no at least not until the game is out of early access since it'd take a lot of time and effort to add something like that now only for a potential future patch to come out and have something else break speedrunning anyway. As well as the whole board being wiped when we get to full release anyway. For now the best we got is tagging runs with the patch they were on, so if you really don't care for downpatching and want to know what the fastest run of 1-4 without old patch weapon wheel is then go to 1-4, go to filters and specify each patch after EA (8/16/22) [The last patch containing old weapon wheel] and you'll get runs without old patch weapon wheel.

As mentioned there is no console version.

To confirm Dryzalar's speculation, the steam deck is just a computer running linux so yes you can downpatch the game on it just the same.

Even if a console spesific version comes out in the future, this game would so obviously be dominated by PC KBM players that it would be unfair anyways. What to do about that can be determined when or even if a console version of the game comes out.

Down patching to play on a spesific version is a very common thing across speedruning. it does make it harder for new people to get into as they have to figure out how to downpatch; However, in Ultrakills case, there are plans to clean the slate once 1.0 comes out for several reasons which have already been mentioned and I could go further on for ages but don't feel like it.
