IGT for ILs makes sense but since there is no timer in game for completing all 10 levels it should be timed RTA. This is the easiest way to time, if a runner prefers not to use livesplit a mod would have to go through each level complete screen and add up the IGT for each level instead of just taking the start and end time of the video to verify the time.
Requiring runners to use livesplit is not very based and honestly kind of cringe, not what this community is about.
Not to mention, I shouldn't be able to finish level 4 get up from my computer, drive to the grocery store, shop for an hour, come home, make dinner, watch a little tv and start level 5 4 hours later and not have that time added to run.
Also whether or not level 11 is part of any% also needs to be addressed.
epilogue should be included imo, it's how you get the "game over" screen, yes it's annoying to have to reset the game after a run but it's included in the game for a reason and should be included in the speedrun.
Well it's too late to go and put the cat back in the bag, and capping FPS going forward to make everyone run the game at equal speeds might seem like the "fair" thing to do when you take into consideration speedrunning as a competition between runners, but it's not, it's a competition between the world and the game and whoever beats the game the fastest is our champion, limiting the FPS so everyone is equally slow is not only unfair, it is entirely against the spirit of speedrunning. The best solution and the only reasonable and logical solution is to separate the leaderboard into FPS brackets so DarkViper would have the T% WR in the 75-100 FPS bracket but Toriks would have the 100-125 FPS WR (these specific numbers are just to illustrate the point, the actual FPS brackets should be determined after rigorous testing at multiple FPS breakpoints) and of course it goes without saying the leaderboard would not be separated like this by default and to see the FPS brackets you would activate a filter like when looking at PS3 or XBOX only runs. Any other solution is tantamount to treason in the name of beating the game as fast as possible for the glory and honor of speedrunning.
I've read over all of the posts and understand everyone's point of view so it seems the main objection to the category being hosted on the Category Extensions, or CE, or GTAMEMES is that the leaderboard is hard to find and is a lazy joke of a board and any run with even a modicum of seriousness would not be fit to be there.
So here's the solution, pin a thread in the SA forums linking to the category extensions to increase visibility and make the CE board at least look somewhat respectable instead of a half-assed slapped together mess that came together on a whim.
This should make everyone happy, maybe not at first, maybe not ever, but eventually I think we will all come to agree this was the best solution and tolly is a genius. Anyone who thinks they have a better idea I'd love to hear it, and please try to do so without flaming anymore people. Thank you and god bless.
After reading over the posts and the arguments in this tread, I have decided to exercise my civic duty and cast my vote for A) Ban G-Input as it is a modification and should not be used.
